Cardiff Golf Club

Cardiff Golf Club sits just 15 minutes from Cardiff city centre, a mature parkland golf course that has quietly earned its reputation as one of South Wales' finest tests. First opened in 1921, this par-70 has evolved alongside the city itself, now regularly featured in Top 100 rankings and widely regarded as Cardiff's best-kept secret.

The course is framed by residential streets, yet once you step onto the first tee the urban backdrop fades entirely. You're into tree-lined holes, smart bunkering and consistently strong greens that demand careful reading. It's not overly long on the card, but placement beats power here. You'll shape a few tee shots, think your way around doglegs and lean on your short game, especially if the pins are tucked. The greens will keep you honest, and if you're out of position the trees rarely give you a free pass back to the fairway.

Cardiff Golf Club has hosted Welsh PGA events, a good sign of the condition and challenge you can expect. The club itself is welcoming and unpretentious, with a strong local membership and genuine appreciation for visiting golfers. The clubhouse offers solid post-round facilities, and the location makes it easy to combine a round with a night in the city, whether that's catching a rugby match at the Principality Stadium or exploring Cardiff's growing food and drink scene.
