Carpe Diem Roma

The apartments adjoin the golf course but the only access is via a small gate that has to be unlocked by reception. The walk from reception to the clubhouse is some 800 yards down a set of rickety steps and through rough ground. You couldn’t arrange to have the clubs taken there as they seemed to be very different organisations without any ‘joined up’ thinking . Staff in both were courteous and helpful but a walk home with your clubs in the pouring rain didn’t help! The apartments had a decent enough restaurant but no separate bar so you had to trek the 800 yards back to the course until it closed at 7.30pm!

Terrible accommodation. There are no facilities on the premises. No swimming pool, no bar, no spa nothing! They don’t clean the rooms. They only empty the trash, make the bed and clean the bathrooms. No linen change. Linen is changed every 7 days and if you want it changed more frequently it costs 30 euros. Towels are only changed on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The restaurant only opens at 7pm The nearest station to Rome is 8km away and needs a taxi at a cost of about 20-30 euros to get there. We upgraded to golf course view and couldn’t enjoy our balcony as it hadn’t been cleaned. Furniture is outdated. There is no shuttle from the hotel to the golf course yet they are a golf resort. No facilities for golf bag storage. They may as well be a motel.

Apartments are a short walk down to Marco Simeone - so great for golf and clubhouse drinks. The restaurant at Carpe Diem is great for a continental breakfast - lots of choice and high quality. Dinner offering more limited - on some days just a set menu. Bar open until 10:00 p.m; Reception staff very helpful with good recommendation for restaurants and organising transport.

The hotel of needs some tender loving care as it’s a bit dated. Also the restaurant only had 12 choices of main meals available for dinner, as well as 1 starter and dessert which was disappointing. So we travelled out for dinner after this first day.
