Perched high in the Les Gavarres mountain range, Golf Club D'Aro Mas Nou serves up one of the most memorable backdrops on the Costa Brava. Its elevated setting means big, sweeping views across the Girona countryside, with fairways threading through Mediterranean woodland and opening out towards the coastline on clear days.
On the card, it's not a brute by length, but it is a proper test. The terrain does a lot of the talking here, with constant elevation changes and natural contours that put a premium on position. Keep it in play off the tee and you'll give yourself chances. Miss the fairway on the tighter, tree-lined holes and you'll be scrambling. The greens add another layer, too, with plenty of movement that rewards a confident putter and a decent read.
It also works brilliantly as part of a Girona and Costa Brava golf tour. You're within easy reach of PGA Catalunya, a European Tour-tested venue and one of Spain's standout modern layouts, plus the classic links-style feel of Golf Platja de Pals. That mix gives your group variety without the crowds you often find in the Algarve or Costa del Sol.
If you want a scenic, strategic round with plenty to talk about over a post-round drink, D'Aro is a cracking shout and a smart fit for a multi-course itinerary, especially when you want the tee times and logistics handled for you.

Club Golf d'Aro is one of the older courses on the Costa Brava, and one of the best, featuring a par-72, 18-hole championship course of around 6,800 yards and a 9-hole (pitch and putt) course, both of them in the heart of the resort and enjoying spectacular views of the Costa Brava, Les Gavarres, Montseny and the Valle de La Selva. For many years this has been a golf holiday favourite with the course enjoyed for both it's design and also playability regardless of handicap.
More than a thousand olive trees, pines, cork oaks and two artificial lakes were employed in the design of the course, penned by architect Ramón Espinosa. This undulating course's strategically placed bunkers make it a challenging but interesting layout, as do the ravines falling down both sides of some fairways - where a steady nerve and very straight hitting will help preserve your score! All in all, it's a course you will never forget, for all the right reasons.
With many different courses to explore in the region and Girona airport around 30 minutes away, Golf Club D'Aro is the perfect place to enjoy a weekend golfing getaway or enjoy a week long golf holiday exploring the other fine courses in the region that offer not only great value but also excellent layouts that stand out amongst many of the best in European golf.
With the weather in the winter months (November - March) slightly cooler in Girona, those travelling outside of this period are likely to enjoy sunshine on their golf holiday with peak averages between June - September between 20 - 23 degrees centigrade, so make sure you pack golf shorts and polo shirts during this period to ensure you get the perfect golfers tan!

Lovely setting. Tight course which could do with a little TLC. Buggies have no GPS. Greens very good.

Good course for those of average ability, although a bit tight in places. Surface of the greens was not great overall.

Brilliant golf course, very unique, but also quite tough as it is quite tight. Greens in great condition. Group all enjoyed playing here.

Enjoyed the course. Very tough off the tee, but easy from the fairway, so opposite challenge to most resort courses. Lots of interesting holes. Definitely good value for money, whilst a little scruffy, felt like a proper golf course.

This course is in a terrible condition. We were informed prior to going away that three of the greens were on provisional and that we would be compensated for this by having free buggies. The other 15 greens were unplayable. The grass was so long or there were massive holes where the grass was completely missing. The condition was either misinterpreted or deliberately not conveyed to us. I booked this back in April and was informed of the course condition a day or two before travelling. It would have been better to offer an alternative course.
