The 18-hole course sits across 230 acres of rolling woodland that falls towards the shores of Lough Muckno, so you get that rare mix of parkland definition with big-water drama.
On a clear day the views do plenty of the talking. You'll look out across the Monaghan Drumlins, with the Cooley and Mourne Mountains to the east and the Slieve Gullion and Mullyash ranges to the north. With the lake and its small islands so close, the course feels tucked away without being difficult to reach, which makes it ideal for groups who want great golf without the crowds of the headline resorts.
Designed by Christy O'Connor Senior and Junior, Concra Wood is very much a thinking golfer's course. Fairways tilt, doglegs reward a well-placed tee shot and several approaches ask for a committed strike, often playing uphill or bringing water into play. It rewards shaping shots and picking your moments, rather than reaching for driver on every tee. It's playable for mid-handicaps, but there's enough strategy and bite to keep low handicappers honest too.
Off the course, Lough Muckno is well known locally for walking and outdoor time, so it's a strong shout if your group likes to mix golf with a bit of fresh-air exploring.

Immaculate, tree-lined fairways twist and turn over and around subtle humps and hollows meaning club selection can be tricky. However while good course management is key to a good score the biggest challenge comes from the trees and water that border many of the fairways.
The shape and flow of the golf course are perfectly complemented by the natural drumlins that roll across the countryside. This easy rhythm adds to the beauty of the course and its challenges, suitable for novices and high handicappers alike. Woods and trees stretch their way elegantly around the course and between holes to give Concra Wood a truly natural touch. The View restaurant located at the highest point on the course offers local food with panoramic views of Monaghan scenery and beyond.
Multiple sets of tees make the course playable for a great variety of golfers and from the back tees the course stretches to a healthy 6,635 yards. Combine this with a par of 72 and the battle against Old Man Par with certainly test every facet of your game.

There was an open on so it was slow. Course is very beautiful, challenging and a very tough walk in the heat. The greens were immaculate.

a superb golf course with beautiful views and great setting,maybe a bit hard for average golfer.Must be on bucket list for all golfers ,highly recommend.
