Very enjoyable , lovely Spa , rooms spacious and clean. Food was excellent.

Some of the bedrooms have recently been refurbished to a good standard. Bar / restaurant with good evening atmosphere.

Good check in experience, friendly staff. No problem changing times for dinner and adding a non resident for the meal on Sunday evening. Liked the refurb of reception, bar and restaurant.

Nice hotel. Staff at reception weren’t very welcoming and quite rude.

Very comfortable stay overall, with the minor exception of the rather soft beds. However, the rooms have everything needed including air-conditioning. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was buffet style but there was also a chef to prepare fresh items, not set out in the buffet, such as fresh poached and fried eggs. Overall, a very pleasant couple of days stay.

Front desk staff should not be in customer service. The S.A lady was unaccommodating and lets say direct. Bar was short staffed and many guests complained that they felt like "second class citizens" due to the priority a wedding party was given. They were observed to get extended check out times and early check in. Our 3 rooms were not given that accommodation, in fact, we were warned late fees would be applied if after 11am. No WiFi reception in our rooms, the Vented AC rattles when on, and the shower backs up. Decor is frankly dated! There is a turnstile feeling to staying there, like you're on a conveyor belt - NEXT. The saving part was the golf and the lovely Spa staff. Its a lovely location and course, the hotel has work to do.

Main bar was shut for refurbishment. Other outside bar and seating area was shut off for a private wedding. Pop up bar for residents was awful. Restaurant and food was of a very high standard. Room was very spacious and comfortable

Spacious and comfortable room all you need for a golfing weekend. Bar prices a bit on the steep side. Staff well trained and very pleasant especially Lizzie can't do enough for you. Donnington Valley well worth a visit.

The staff were great. Very apologetic about hotel refurb, (hence 4stars) even gave us 2 tokens for drinks as compensation. Rooms were immaculate and food especially breakfast was excellent.

Rooms, meals, staff, bar all good. Sauna and hot tub not working in the spa.

My only complaint is that once again my request to you and the hotel seemed to be ignored I specifically asked for my group to be separated from the other diners as we are a large group and can be loud not offensive, so when i arrived they put us in the main restaurant area! I asked the duty manager if he could move us but he wasn't aware of my request!! so we agreed to dine in the restaurant but he allowed us to use the upstairs area for our auction, so my point is why they hadn't set up that area in the first place, it wasn't being refurbished as i was originally informed and also we weren't put in the cromwell suite as i was told some weeks ago!! So you can imagine I wasn't best pleased with what can only be a lack of communication between YGT and the hotel! I would like a full explanation why this situation was allowed to develope.

Great location, wonderful, friendly, helpful and polite staff. Excellent room and impressive spa complex. Food was delicious and superbly served.

Very clean and tidy

Organised a ‘lads and dads’ golf and horse racing trip. Ideal for the golf course and Newbury racing. Easy check in and comfortable room. Good food and pleasant bar area. The real bonus was no TV in the bar so we didn’t have to watch England.

Comfortable rooms. Decent food as part of a golf package. Extensive wine list. We used the pool and spa which were in good condition. Nothing spectacular but suited our group very well.

We paid for an executive room. No idea what made it executive apart from maybe larger bed? Mini bar not stocked aside from two measly bottles of mineral water - despite us having left a credit card for extras. Only 1 set of towels out. Toilet disgusting - I took a photo. No room service due to wedding

Fabulous hotel/spa. Disappointing that we have to drive to the golf course and that there is no facility for breakfast at the club house. If we had been 10mins later we would have missed breakfast which would have been disastrous after a 90min drive.

Loved staying here and will return. We turned up and there had been a mix up with the booking, walked into our room to find a big double bed which had me and my mate looking at each other and laughing, went straight to reception and they sorted us a twin room within minutes so the stay are excellent. Rooms are perfect, big and spacious with everything you’d need/expect. Spa is excellent… steam, sauna, pool, jacuzzi, gym. You are given towels on arrival and a key card to use the lockers. Restaurant is good. Breakfast was quality. Evening meal was the only negative of the trip to be honest, the food is absolutely lovely but the staff were a bit confused… one night we were allowed to sit outside but the next we weren’t. One night we were asked how we’d like our steak cooked the next we were told you have to have it how it comes when ordering from the set golf package menu. One night we’d have complimentary water for the table the next night they’d charge us for it. The service charge would change from night to night. The hotel and the start of the golf course are a couple minutes drive from one another. None of this put a dampener on the stay tho and we would 100% return.

Staff were very helpful and attentive, layout of hotel was lovely, room failed to wow us, a bit dated and sloped ceiling required window blinds to be drawn in daytime as spa and neighbouring rooms could look straight into our room, including bathroom providing little to no privacy.

Very clean rooms and friendly staff. Fire alarm went off in the early hours and a friend of ours says it happened to them on their visit some time ago at a similar time.

Hotel rooms clean and comfortable. Sizes vary,it seems to be pot luck if you get a bigger room.

Hotel was great. food was amazing. There was a wedding on at the time so quite busy. I think some of the staff aren't too keen on the golf crowds coming down!

On arrival at the golf club I was informed by a member of staff that our menu choices had not been received I showed him the email with our menu choices sent to YGT on the 24th April? Also for our evening sitting I did request on several occasions that we require the area upstairs despite this I was informed that we were seated in the main restaurant which is unfair on other guests surrounded by 34 men fortunately I was able to convince them to put us upstairs but I shouldn't have been put in that position

The rooms, bar and restaurant area of this hotel were all lovely. We especially enjoyed our evening meal in the restaurant and feel that the pre-paid nature of the meal was dealt with very well by staff. I opted to have a pedicure treatment in the spa which was fantastic and the staff were very friendly. My only complaint about the hotel is the spa area which in my opinion should not be sold to customers as a suitable spa for adults. The entire pool and spa area was open to children meaning it was not a relaxing experience and the lower than expected experience was not reflected in the high price for drinks etc. in the spa area.

Superb venue and very clean, must be careful as we didn’t know until last night they were adding service charges on drinks being purchased at the bar.

Nice experience overall. Carpet in the room had stains and TV was positioned in the wrong place.

Comfortable rooms, old fashioned bathrooms, good food and pleasant staff.

The comfort of the rooms was of a high standard, although the AC in the room seemed intermittent. The layout could place the TV on the opposite side to the beds, as we're unable to both watch TV at night. There was a service charge on all drinks, eventhough we were purchasing them from the bar. Service at the bar was a tad slow when it was busy, due to requests for cocktails tying up staff. Overall the stay was of a high quality and the spa facilities and treatment rooms was excellent.

Great venue and facilities

Hotel was perfect for our golfing break rooms spacious and clean the bar was reasonably price for drinks and when we asked the reception to get us taxis into Newbury they were there within 10 mins and would definitely stay there again

The staff were both friendly and very efficient. We were made to feel very welcome. The rooms were large and comfortable and the food was delicious. An excellent location for our group of 15 to stay and play golf. Unfortunately my room smelt strongly of smoke, hence the 4 stars.

5 Star alround. The staff were friendly and helpful, The rooms clean and more than adequate for our needs. The facilities were used by some of the group who thought they were excellent. The Highlight was the food, both breakfast and evening meal with the service being more than helpful.

Food very good drink not to over priced and service very good

We were absolutely delighted with the whole weekend. Golf course was in great shape. Busy on the Sunday took us over 5 hours but the warm reception and roaring fire at the bar soon calmed us all and a dinner that was faultless. The spa was a lovely bonus.

Paid extra for an upgraded executive room which I thought would have golf course views but ended up looking out of sky light at the car park. Plus they added a service charge to each nights stay for the food and drink. If I want to leave a tip I do it voluntarily not it be added without being asked!!

A generally excellent hotel, room size and quality far better than average.

The hotel is very good. Lovely modrn spacious rooms with a bath and shower in the room. Quit at night as well. It is a Cashless hotel which visitors should know before hand.

Excellent stay Rooms comfortable great having sky sports in the room. Every member of staff was very friendly and professional. Only negative is breakfast was a little chaotic, buffet style everyone turned up at same time,items missing from hot buffet.

We have been on many golf breaks and this one was by far the best. All the staff, from the front desk to the bar staff, waiting staff, pro shop and even the window cleaner were all polite, friendly,professional and all had a smile 😊. The rooms were very comfortable with a fridge, dressing gown, iron, tea/ coffee making facilities and complimentary water. Very comfy beds. The food quality was excellent. I would highly recommend a break here, in fact, we could have stayed for longer, one night was not enough.

Lovely hotel in a very pleasant setting. Comfortable rooms. Excellent showers!! 3 of our party had to pay for executive rooms due to availability when booking. They felt that the extra £40 for those rooms was a little over the top especially as the only noticeable difference to standard rooms was the size of the TV!! All in all however definitely good enough to consider a return

Great Food and pool

Great hotel. Staff were lovely, restaurant was amazing quality of food. Room was good - a very small additional attention to detail world have had it at 5 star, things like making sure coffee and 2 robes were in the room but fairly minor points.

It was a 2 day golf trip for 4 people sharing twin rooms. Although the rooms were a little dated, especially the bathroom, the staff and other facilities were very good. Drinks at the bar a little bit pricey. The package we had included a 3 course evening meal and breakfast - great quantity, choice and quality of food.

Everything about the Hotel was top notch, could not fault it!!!

The food was outstanding in the restaurant. We also had the good fortune to have a room upgrade for my husband's 60th birthday, so had a lovely view of the golf course. The hotel was decorated for Christmas and there was a lovely atmosphere. We didn't use the spa facilities as the golfers were golfing and the non-golfers went Christmas shopping! We last stayed here 10 years ago for my husband's 50th, so it was very nostalgic going back.

The hotel was very comfortable, with very accommodating staff, all in all, a very pleasant stay.

A very comfortable hotel and nice room, though we were overlooking the car park! Would be good if we had the wifi code, the number to call reception and other hotel information in the room. Maybe the book was missing. Food and staff in the restaurant and bars all good. Struggled to check out using ApplePay but the manager got there in the end!

A little pricey but overall excellent

Hotel was nice and served its purpose. Reduced offering at Breakfast, would have expected a fuller selection for cooked breakfast. Rooms was good, clean and spacious, strange TV placement?

Absolutely fantastic. Two guys went for a last minute getaway. Could not find any faults at all. Was originally given a double room, upon entering my mate looked at me and said “err, hold on a minute. Is there summit you ain’t telling me?” I assured him there wasn’t. We want straight back to reception, returned the pot of lube and was given a normal geezers room (2x single beds with a geezers size trench dug between them). So no funny business, not in this room please. Absolutely spot on for a couple of rounds and a night away. We traveled from Hertfordshire.

Very Friendly Staff, nothing was not too much trouble.

Clean and comfortable rooms, but no room cleaning or fresh towels or replenishment of tea/ coffee during our stay. Breakfast and evening meals were excellent. Spa facilities very good, although jacuzzi out if order. Also no robes provided in rooms for Spa.

Short on checking in staff, as we arrived at the same time of another society, room was made up as a double, but was rectified while at the bar, dinner was great however breakfast was poor and in the room for some reason, a dry bacon bap and a few continental bits.

Absolutely fantastic trip all round… lovely little hotel with a fantastic pool and spa. The breakfast is disappointing as no buffer but understand due to Covid lack of morning staff. However the dinner was absolutely gorgeous… shout out the chef who is a legend!!!

Accommodation was fair. No room service at all due to their interpretation of the Covid rules. Likewise there was no ‘dining’ for breakfast, merely a brown paper bag with a basic continental. An overall disappointing experience.

All of the staff were so kind, friendly & helpful. Not only the front desk staff but the restaurant staff, bar staff and the housekeeping team. The spa treatment team and the golf team were as equally hospitable. All were very approachable and nothing was too much trouble.

Lovely hotel been here a few times now. Was a little disappointed this time could blame Covid though. Breakfast was included in the package but due to Covid restrictions they were only doing a continental and bacon bap left outside the room even though you could eat dinner in the restaurant. Not what a golfer really wants when they go away. Golf Course was in great condition and looked lovely only moan was the very slow play and no one going round to shake people up.

1. Before we confirmed our booking one of our party informed me that he had been advised, that it was necessary to drive between the hotel and the golf course, which is something we prefer not to do. As a result I did call you at the time and was reassured that this was not the case and that the course and the Hotel was on the same site as such no driving between the 2 points would be needed. It became apparent on arrival that this was unfortunately not the case and other than an excessively long walk of some 15 minutes or more, driving was in fact the only prudent way to get to the Golf shop to obtain cards, buggies and walk on to the tee. In addition the limited car park at the “Golf Club” made it extremely difficult to park, in fact on the last day eventually only made possible by a kind member of staff permitting us to park in a “None Parking” bay. The above made for a very stressful start particularly on the 1st day when we had limited time to get to the Golf Club after travelling. 2. On check in we were informed that there would be no Restaurant service for breakfast and that a pre-ordered continental breakfast would be delivered to the room in a paper bag! We had not been pre warned or advised by either Yourgolftravel or the Hotel in advance that this would be the case. The “excuse” given for this on arrival was “due to Covid”, however after eventually speaking to the Hotel Manager in the evening, she informed me that they had staff shortages due to an inability to recruit staff. Of course breakfast together as a group is an important part of the holiday, allowing an opportunity for social interchange and planning for the day ahead, delivery of a modest breakfast in the room of course denies this opportunity and was extremely disappointing. 3. It was evident that the operational arrangements between course and Hotel are “work in progress” as were a number of the hotel practises and procedures, for example being told that if we wanted to watch live sport on TV after golf there were a couple of local pubs we could drive to as the Hotel only had freeview! 4. Bar prices were felt by the group to be excessive, examples being £2 for a small 25g bag of crisps, £5.30 for a pint of beer and to add insult to injury a policy of “automatically” adding a 10% “Gratuity” charge to the bill even if you collected your drinks directly from the bar making what was already an over the top charge event more expensive!!

Everything was perfect with one slight exception. The Hotel, admittedly due to the Covid and staffing levels, could only supply us with a goody bag containing a pretty awful excuse for a continental breakfast. Hungry grow men require a good cooked breakfast before golf. This was very disappointing. Hence I can only give four stars for overall rating.

Good facilities including pool and gym. Rooms average/good. Food amazing!

We enjoyed a glorious 3 days playing golf and staying at the hotel. The staff were very attentive and the hotel was bright airy and clean. The rooms were a good size and we were call next to each other on the ground floor. Unfortunately we couldn’t take breakfast in the restaurant due to the hotels Covid restrictions but the breakfast was delivered to our room and was very tasty. The restaurant had a lovely covered outdoors area and it was perfect on a hot summer evening. The menu was excellent as was the food and service. The staff were super and even reserved us a lovely outdoors table for coffee after dinner.

Charming helpful staff. Food on first night was excellent but the second night from same menu was poorly cooked in comparison to first night. Long wait between courses.

Enjoyed the stay

The hotel can be amazing. It has great facilities that look well maintained. Unfortunately the staff / level of service was pretty poor when compared to other recent experiences.

Food excellent except breakfast delivered to room in a bag. They said they did not have enough staff to prepare a cooked breakfast.

We stayed on a Sunday night with dinner B&B. The staff could not be more helpful. I had contacted them prior to arrival to arrange dinner seating and they promptly replied and obliged. When we arrived everything was explained to us regarding our stay. The rooms were very comfortable with good facilities. Dinner was excellent, they even had place names with our pre ordered food choices! All round we were very well treated and we will return.

We felt completely ‘Covid’ safe. Everyone adhering to face masks. Breakfast delivered to the bedroom on time, hot & delicious. The room was more than adequate with a very comfortable bed.

The only comment I would like to make is that they didn’t have enough bar staff. We were waiting a long time to be served and some ladies didn’t get their drinks before we had to go into the restaurant. We were supposed to eat at 8 o’clock but eventually got our food at 8.40 and because the bar closed at 10 we couldn’t have a nightcap.

Hotel was really welcoming and friendly, unfortunately due to Covid the breakfast is room service only and continental which was disappointing. The pool and spa was also fully booked as there’s limited space.

Fantastic hotel, one of the best we have stayed in. Rooms were comfortable and clean. All in all the hotel was very good. Staff were generally polite and helpful, however the restaurant staff were less so. Although we pre ordered our food several days in advance, the staff had difficulty deciphering who had ordered what. I believe the whole process, from the request to order before the stay, to the waiting on table could do with a looking at. I must say though, in their defence, not all the problems were of the staffs making. Some of our group did not help the situation by not remembering what they had ordered. A simple place setting with the choices on would have helped.

We had a comfortable time at the hotel

Excellent rooms, good size bathroom and fantastic strength shower. Coffee facilities with fridge and fresh milk and cold water!! free Wi-fi throughout the hotel and very easy to connect. Staff helpful and knowledgable. Restaurant goods with a decent choice of menu.

Great value for money.

I found the hotel to be in good order through out, with staff all ways able to help if needed. Bar was fine all though found price of the the beer a little on the high side. Food in the restaurant was ok if you had a problem the staff would do the best to try and sort it out. Breakfast was buffet and we found their was plenty of choices to choose from. So in all very good and worth the money.

All members of staff were very friendly, cooperative and efficient. The food was good and the roms and facilities were excellent.

Quality hotel

Harry we thoroughly enjoyed our stay it was hard to believe we only spent one night there we felt really refreshed Whilst the golf course is not the greatest ever played it was very well maintained and a good test of golf The hotel was extremely comfortable the dining room was a big surprise we ate very well and their chef is a real talent The wine list is extraordinary Would definitely go back!!!

The hotel staff were extremely professional, helpful and friendly. The food was good and the facilities just right. There is a short distance between the hotel and the golf club that requires the use of a car.

As on previous trips excellent facilities and staff, only downside on arrival I was told each of my party was being charged an outstanding balance on there stay, luckily I had the confirmation payment email from you so resolved but shouldn't have occurred in the first place.

From the moment we arrived the service received by the hotel staff was brilliant. Food was great, spa was relaxing and the overall welcome was superb. The only negative was the cost of the drinks.

Left this hotel after a surprise birthday trip for my husband feeling rather disappointed to be honest. Overall the hotel seemed rather run down and customer care wasn’t a priority. After arriving we for a drink in the bar and it took them over 30 mintutes to finall get my drink after we had finished our lunch and my husband had also finished his drink, they then realised they didn’t have the ingredients to make the cocktail I had ordered so was brought out something different. We then went to the spa but was never told by anyone we would need our robes and slippers from our room so had to go back and get them. Once signed in we went into the changing rooms where we then realised we were never given a locker key, so went back out and asked and was given attitude by the receptionist that we needed a locker key and we should have known this apparently. The pool was over crowded and didn’t get a sun lounger as people had left their towels on them. Children were also allowed to use the pool so didn’t make this very relaxing. Facilities were average. Booked in for a Discovery facial for both of us, being a salon owner myself I know what to expect had had many spa treatemnts before. The facial was very rushed and not much care taken at all. Certainly not worth the money. Had a three course dinner in the restaurant that evening, was very nice but not a huge variety to choose from. Bedroom was fine and bed was comfortable but was worked up at 8am with a leaf blower outside our room. Breakfast was a buffet, was nice and plenty to choose from. Overall I wouldn’t recommend or stay at this hotel again.

Hotel was the best we have stayed at. It had everything you need and was spotless. Food was realy good with good choices. Staff very friendly. We had one issue which after seeing the manager next morning was rectified. Golf course brilliant and we will be back again next year.

Course was in excellent condition for time of year. Greens were fantastic. Played off white tees which were a good challenge! Thanks to the pro shop for allowing us to tee off early.

Course presented well and greener in very condition, particularly given the volume of traffic. Fairways had recovered from the dry summer too.

Play was slow on Sunday but much quicker on Monday. Tee times worked well on both days. Course in very good condition. Staff in pro shop very friendly as were staff in the club house. Practice facilities ok.

Decent enough but would have expected more for the money paid. Incredibly slow rounds both days played!

Course was good. A little held up at times but overall ok. Tough greens and some illegal pin locations that made some holes tricky but overall very enjoyable weekend. Would highly recommend and will definitely be going back.

Course was in good nick condsidering the hot summer but some rain has greened up the course well.. greens were big and quick. Very nice course

A daunting looking course which wasn't long but was never flat. Tree lined but no rough as such, so if you rolled into the trees, the ball was always findable, if not always playable! Superb greens but super fast with huge borrows, which weren't always obvious. We experienced more than one 4 putt and even putts which ran clean off the green! There are some lovely holes on the back nine. All players are asked to visit the clubhouse after nine which worked well in keeping the games flowing. Great value food and drink available and buggy hire was very reasonable too. Very helpful and friendly staff in the Clubhouse and especially the Professional shop. Having left the course a little beaten up, it didn't take long to realise it's a great little course and great overall fun.

The course was slow and a few of the holes felt very fiddly and squeezed in… the greens were in great condition and running really well.

So dry it made things very tricky, good shots would end up on a neighbouring fairway due to the slope. Worst part was pace of play, last five holes were unbearable, looking at five hours for a three ball.

Tough ending to the round but that leaves you with good memories - the front 9 is definitely easier and flatter. Everywhere very well maintained - just a shame other visitors ignore the bunker rakes! Only disappointment was the food provided. We arrived early to have lunch before we played but the only choice was ore-packed sandwiches or microwaved hot rolls. Would definitely recommend as a great place for a tour.

From the pro shop pro to the green side bar all the staff where fantastic, friendly, happy to help and able to give advise. The course was great with responsive greens and well laid out course, we really enjoyed our rounds and wouldn’t hesitate in coming again 👍

Lovely course and we played twice. On the first afternoon we did, unfortunately, experience 10-15 minute waits due to slow players ahead.

Fairways were rock hard and run off from fairways was ridiculous as every one sloped ridiculously so you could hit a well placed drive and end up on the fairway 2 holes over. One of the worst courses I have ever played on and will not be going back or recommending to anyone

A very testing course needs some planning especially the back nine. Greens are fantastic and very tricky, the fairways were scorched because of lack of rain but still a very nice course.

Sadly Wet. However, course was beautifully maintained. More direction to tees on the course would be helpful but otherwise thoroughly enjoyed the challenge.

Course, speed of play, pro in the golf shop etc all great. Putting green a bit small and a driving range wd really help.

Nice course in good condition, greens where in good condition and very undulating making putting very difficult, we wanted to book a couple of buggies for some of our group of 10 but left it too late phoning a week in advance which was disappointing, pro shop is decent, but was disappointed with the club house and bar and the food available.

Excellent condition for time of year

The course was in good condition considering the weather we’ve had over the last couple of months, with the greens being prepared for spring.

This golf course suits all types of golfer. In very good condition for this time of year. Although busy, the speed of round was about right

Pretty wet ground but not much they could do about that. The greens were still in good condition. The pace of play was reasonable for weekend. The front 9 is a little samey but the back 9 more interesting. We would go back. Very friendly staff.

Great place and deal but slow round

The greens were tricky, there were some challenging holes and some straightforward ones, so plenty of variety. The course was in excellent condition too. The pro in golf shop was a really friendly and welcoming chap (South African accent). The bar-staff in the club house were nice too!

We only played 9 holes because it was so slow. There were 5 groups waiting on the 10th tee and my partner was getting so cold he didn’t want to play on. In any case we would have been so late finishing that our dinner reservation would have been at risk. Course overloaded. Spacing too short and no one marshalling speed of play. Lovely course but wouldn’t go back at weekend. Bar service slow for same reason. The hotel should not be charging a premium for weekend stays when the service is actually far worse than in the week. Would not go back.

Lovely course to play for all standard of golfers, some real tough holes but great fun, slow play, due to being held up but grest over all. Greens were so Times hard to read but great condition I believe it would be the tee box's that let this course down, they need flattening and redoing but a good couple of rounds.

Queueing at times on front nine. It was wet and pretty dangerous in places where it was steep and slippery

Really good course this that suits the shorter hitters who aren’t bombing it miles off the tee. Very varied selection of holes, all the holes you feel like you have a decent chance of scoring well on because of the length of them. Stand out holes are ‘the big dipper’ a 500 yard par 5 on the back 9 and the little par 3 9th which is only 100 yards but played in front of the seating area of the club house… make sure to hit your ball below the hole, go over and it’s like putting in a bath tub. Staff are great and friendly. Halfway house is excellent, first place I’ve played where there is a proper bar after 9 holes. Only marked down slightly on facilities because they don’t have a proper driving range, but there is a net to use on the first tee. Make sure you get a buggy tho as it’s very up and down, especially the back 9.

Some of the holes are very easy but equally some are very tough as they are very tight and golf balls fly all over from other fairways.

An amazing course we played 6 rounds and will definitely play again in the future.

The greens are very difficult to read, there were 21 of us, and everyone had the same problem, even though there were very good golfers in our group.

Loved the course but we did have buggies. As we are of a certain age ladies we would not have liked to walk it. Quite hilly in places.

Good golf course, need to play it a couple of times to get used to the sloping fairways and very tricky undulating greens. Overall very good.

Course was interesting with some very testing greens. An opening par 5 followed by a run of eight par 4s and then a tiny par 3 makes the front 9 seem very unbalanced. The front 9 was slow (almost 2.5 hours) but it was really annoying that we got to the 10th to find another group on the tee starting their round. Finished in just under 5 hours. Way too slow - won’t be going back.

Interesting course in very good condition.

On Sunday rounds were taking 51/2 hrs. We stopped after the 13th after 4 hrs 10 on the course. There were 21 4 balls out that morning and even though we teed off at 1.30 the course was still at a standstill at 5.30pm. We hear there were 16 players waiting on the 16th (par 3) hole. Complaints to the pro shop resulted in us be8ng told it’s always like that at weekends. Clearly 8 min tee times don’t work

EXTREMELY slow. Worst pace of play i have ever experienced. at one point we had 4 groups queuing up for a tee. 4 groups!! we didn't even finish our round on Sunday because of this. walked off on the 11th. Our Saturday round took 5 and a half hours which we soldiered through. This is one of those clubs who just cram in as many people on the course as possible with no regard to quality/pace of play. always an issue the 8min staggered tee times. Shame because the course itself is nice and challenging, although short. Sort it out! will be asking for a partial refund on this.

What a lovely course, great mix of holes. Challenging becouse of the greens, barely a flat spot on any of them. But very enjoyable test of your putting skills. only minor complaint were the bukers lots of stones. All of our group loved the course, staff were very good, every thing went like clock work. even the nearest the pin markers had our Wenvoe Castle logo on them. Well done Donnington valley G.C

Club house very limited. Great outdoor area. Front 9 average, back 9 is where the course comes alive.

Good course, good test, hilly , greens very fast.very enjoyable.we had 3 rounds as a 2 ball. One at 2.50pm on Friday which took 3hrs 20 mins, one on Saturday at 11am which took 4hrs 40 mins and we had to wait on every tee and fairway, then the same on Sunday at 10.50am when waiting was the same when took 2hrs 30 mins to play front 9. then 2 x 4 balls in front of us let us through and took 1hr 45mins to complete.But still very enjoyable just slow, there appeared to be lots of beginners. high handicappers around.

Course is very nice, but due to weather we were only able to have buggies on the front nine which was unfortunate. Would definitely play there again when buggies are allowed for full course.

Due to weather conditions only the front 9 of the course was open for the 2 days we were there. In our opinion the condition of the course on our second day looked good enough to at least open some of the other holes so we were a bit disappointed by our experience.

Round was slow due to the condition after rain, no buggies. Lack of electric trollies meant some of our party struggled. Very slippy on the back 9. The course had held up well though and we will return in the summer as great challenging course. Pro shop staff were very helpful and a pleasure to deal with.

The course was great if a little difficult and tight in places. The closing 4 holes are stunning.

Sunday afternoon was slow, especially on the back 9 which is really difficult. We had nasty weather which added to our problems.

Course in very nice condition. Fairly short in length but greens were excellent. Definitely return to play again. Pro shop staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Clubhouse kitchen closed, could not get breakfast on arrival. Course difficult, fairways and greens ok ,bunkers terrible, like playing out of mud, full of stones. Course was very busy, 5 hour round on Sunday, quicker on Monday.

The course, clubhouse and staff were all very good. Staff were friendly and helpful. The greens had been pencil tined when we arrived so were a bit questionable on the first day. They improved each day, and I can imagine that they are very good when rested. The Saturday round was a bit slow at 5 hours. The course was a good test for all handicaps.

The fairways and greens were in great condition and the greens were very tricky and fast which was part of the fun and made scoring interesting the only downside is a good few of the tee boxes you would be standing on a slope and there were quite a few stones in the bunkers if you was unlucky to land in them but the outlay of the course was 2nd to none and our society enjoy playing there

The golf staff were friendly and efficient. We enjoyed the course though the greens were tough. Our first round was very slow due to not being able to see where the greens were from several of the t boxes. Our second round was much speedier. A nice location for a golf break.

Excellent but tiring !. The Pro shop staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The Facilities were more than adequate for our needs. The last round on Sunday was slow due to circumstances beyond our control but the previous 2 rounds were spot on. Highly recommended.

As a group we have always enjoyed the challenge of the course, some of the greens were not at their best but you do get a lot of traffic over the year, staff were excellent and extremely helpful

Course was in good shape with some tricky holes. We'll definitely be going back. The pro shop staff were brilliant, so helpful nothing was to much trouble.

No hold ups golf flowed very good

Sunday was slow but possibly there were so many autumn leaves balls were difficult to find.

Very slow on Sunday as very busy but quicker on Monday morning. Greens were excellent after what has been a difficult and very dry year.

First day round was 5 hrs 20 mins & we walked off on the 15 th hole . Second day we finished 18 & it took 5 1/2 hrs . This says everything! No complaints about course but this spoilt the weekend.

Very dangerous in places as quite a few holes either criss crossed or were very narrow to each other. Nobody appeared to shout four and nearly got hit by golf balls several times!!

The greens were particularly good, especially given the amount of rain in recent days. They were fast and true and generally in brilliant condition. We particularly enjoyed some of the very challenging short par fours. The bunkers were largely unplayable due to heavy rain.

Its not an easy course with tight fairways off the tee. Probably a bit too difficult for anyone who has a handicap of over 22 I think. Overall the condition was OK but playing it 3 days running was not as interesting as playing a different course. Are there other courses nearby?

Course was in good condition. Unfortunately was a few groups of people that weren't golfers, playing in groups of 6 no calls of fore when hitting way off line.

The only reason I didn’t give this course 5 stars was because due to the lack of rain recently ( which is not their fault), the fairways were not in the best condition. It’s a very interesting course and one I would like to play again.

We played in 38% and had the course entirely to ourselves! the only criticism would be that we felt that the cost of the drinks and food in the spike bar was overly expensive for a very average choice of drinks and average food.

A very decent track with its occasional challenging tight tree lined fairways. A fair test of golfing abilities with our average stableford points from 15 of us over the 2days of 28 and a top score of 36pts. Admittedly we were helped by the glorious weather….dry,very sunny and hot.

Course in good condition with no delays

Fabulous course. Really loved the back 9 as more variety. But all the holes were interesting and some degree of challenge. The 9th, 16 and 17 over water were really fun. The pro shop was excellent with a great difference in golf consistency after just 30 mins lesson. Lots of advice on clubs and good prices too.

An excellent and fair course. Under the early year weather conditions the course was in good order. This is a very fair test for the mid teen handicapper and above. The course was not busy which allowed us to play very relaxed golf

All members of our society couldn't stop singing the praises of this course. Very well maintained, some lovely holes all laid out well. Made for a fair but fun challenge for all abilities. To then have a patio overseeing both the 9th green and 18th made for a great finish.

The trip was in mid Feb just after some heavy rain - we played 3 rounds over 2 days. The course was fully open with no temp greens or teeing mats which was great. The greens were in excellent condition. Some fairways were understandably boggy but this was fine. Great staff in the Pro Shop.

The condition of the course was astonishing, all other courses played recently have suffered due to the winter weather, but not this course. Chap in the Pro-shop was super friendly, buggies were reasonable and course played great.

Course was in excellent condition. We were lucky with the November weather. Finding balls in autumn leaves did slow the round but not unduly. Good pace and tricky greens with amazing 'borrows' around the holes, elevated par 3 greens all proved challenging but enjoyable Pro Shop & Spike bar staff very friendly We would like to return to try and master this course

As a group of 4 we all found Donnington Valley to be a fantastic course! We had a mixed ability group with low to high handicaps and each player thoroughly enjoyed the course. The front 9 is a delightful open area, whereas the final 4 holes are a real challenge. The staff at the Pro shop were incredibly helpful and accommodating. We will definitely be back.

The greens were being hollow tined very late in the season, and along with the debris, and worm casts all over the greens made them virtually unputtable. Also, the buggies have been governed at a snails pace, which became extremely frustrating, I would imagine the course would play well in the summer, but give winter golf a miss on this one.

The slowest golf round ever on the Sunday - 5 hours, constantly waiting on the people in front.Monday was better as we played earlier and did the back 9 first! Course is OK - a few fun and interesting holes but too many were quite narrow and just up and down. Course was in pretty good condition. It was fun for two days but wouldn't have it on a list to go back to.

Sunday was very slow as the course had booked too many four balls at only 8 minute intervals. Over 5 hours so we changed our tee time on Monday to avoid the same again and it took 4 hours which is acceptable. Get the GC to change their timings!

First round was slow at 5 hours+ and meant played last 3 holes in bad light!! Staff were helpful. General condition of the course was good despite heavy rainfall the previous day. Second round was in standard time 4 hours, limited lunch/food options available after our round but in general all the group enjoyed the stay and would probably return.

This course was opened in the 90’s. walking round it is very difficult to comprehend this. The course is very picturesque with lots of mature trees. Looks like Capability Brown gardens. Cleverly designed. Pros. Beautiful setting. Lots of different holes. Good condition considering lots of rain previously. Great Pro shop and Pro(S.African guy). Good greens. I’m sure there’s more as we found it brilliant. Cons. Quite a few Tee areas not flat/level. Some bunkers flooded (we had lots of rain previously though) Can be very very slow. Need a ranger checking on people to keep pace. We heard complaints from people who had horrendous stories. Hard work if walking with trolley or carrying as very undulating landscape. Buggy would be good idea. This may be a reflection of my fitness levels. Overall we found this an AMAZING night away. Great value for money, fantastic food and golf.

Quite hilly, greens need a lot of respect some tricky breaks, some quite interesting holes where position counts rather than distance. Enjoyable and interesting challenge!

very good for a hotel course the hotel didn't tell us that we had to drive to club house we walked across 2 fairways to get to pro shop not a good start the pro said they do it all the time !!!

An ideal course for a society break. Some very tight holes on the back nine which can result in a few lost balls and slow play. Overall no issues and pretty good condition.

The course was in excellent condition and although there are some difficult holes overall it was a good challenging course. It was extremely hot and so the round was slow and we did unfortunately receive some abuse from an incredibly rude man on the course! This was however dealt with perfectly well by the golf director and it didn’t spoil our stay.

The first 9 holes were a little boring.The back 9 much more interesting. The pro shop very helpful. The clubhouse steward truly awful. Not welcoming in the slightest . Dirty tables and petrol buggies not cleaned with rubbish from previous players .

Very good course quick tricky back nine, was very impressed and would definitely recommend it!!!!

Considering how many players are going through the course, it's in fantastic conditions. Fairways and greens were in good condition but tee boxes were a bit worse for wear. Played two rounds, walked off after 12 holes on the first day (two large societies) but second day the pace of play was spot on. Short course but tight fairways and tricky greens are this course's defense.

The pro and the pro shop were great, very helpful as was the guy in the bar.(He arranged pre paid rolls for us the next day so that we could eat half way round, a great idea). The course was in very good condition and the greens were true. The course is compact but there are some lovely holes like the index 1 par 5, have a look before you go as there are some bind shots. The only criticism is that is was so slow. This was due to a mixed group of about 12 who took forever we were nearly 5 1/2 hours. I had to ring the hotel to put dinner back an hour which they did. But for the price a great deal.

Some narrow fairways and therefore quite a few stray balls! A bit muddy in places and of course there is noise from the road. Still a good challenge with sloping greens & lies.

As it was the weekend, the course was very busy, and very slow. Which spoilt it for us

A 5 hour round in both days due to hold ups. I think the back nine is very dangerous with flying balls coming on our fairway. Don’t think we will want to play it again which is a pity because the hotel is lovely.

Course was in great condition although not long the greens certainly made it a real challenge!!! Fast and if miss read could easily be a 3 putt wow!!! But all our group would definitely go again.

Not especially long holes but the clever positioning of bunkers & water hazards made you think on what shots would be best suited to keep the ball in play. Greens were very fast (compared to our own course) and pin positions on some holes made putting a "challenge". All in all, a very enjoyable course to play.

My wife has a high handicap so I was pleased that she could enjoy the course as much as I did. Very beautiful landscape with many different aspects to the holes. The greens were in good condition and were fair to putt on. Would definitely re-visit this complex

Good test for the mid handicapper.

Found the course to be very tree lined, so you need to be straight with all clubs!!. If not this course is not for you.The greens were in very good order on all 18 holes and were very quick,fareways could do with a little more time spent on them. The club house needs a little up dating but is functional. The pro shop is very well equipped. And found all staff very helpful.

For we, mostly retired gents, the back 9 was a tough walk, particularly hole 15; much easier with buggies on day 2. Greens were in good condition but we found them difficult to read. Our only real gripe was unpredictable bounces on most fairways - no doubt a leftover from last year's drought.

Quality golf course

A challenging course with some tight fairways and interesting greens. The scenery is attractive and everyone encountered were pleasant and helpful.

No complaints on the course as in previous years a good challenge for all levels

Fantastic course, well maintained and the greens were spot on. We played Texas scramble on day one to familiarise ourselves with the course before playing individual stableford on the second day. We played yellow ball on the final day and also threw in some white tees, including the 16th.

A realy nice course . A bit narrow for higher handicappers with lots of trees. But could usally find your ball. Greens big and in perfect condition. Loved it and will be back
