Golf de Raray

Set in the grounds of the 17th-century Golf de Raray, this is one of those venues where the setting does a lot of the talking before you've even pegged it up. You've got proper French estate scenery, a standout clubhouse backdrop and, importantly for a golf break, three very different ways to spend your time.

The headline act is the 18-hole championship course, laid out through mature woodland. If you like tree-lined golf that asks you to pick a shape off the tee and stick to a plan, you'll be very happy here. It's more about placement and patience than trying to overpower the place.

If you're short on time, or you've got a mixed group and want an easier option to pair with a longer round, there's also a nine-hole course on the Plain de Valois. It changes the feel of the day, a bit more open and ideal for a quicker loop.

And for a relaxed finish, a warm-up or anyone in the group who doesn't fancy 18, the pitch and putt is a handy extra. It's great for beginners and families and it gives everyone a way to get involved.

If you're planning a northern France golf break and want variety in one spot, Golf de Raray is an easy one to shortlist.

Who is this for?
Golfers looking for a multi-course venue in northern France, groups wanting variety in one location and anyone drawn to historic settings with strong visual appeal.

Who is it best for?
Mid-handicappers who enjoy tree-lined, strategic golf, couples or families wanting different course options in one place and travellers exploring the Oise region who want quality golf without the resort formality.

Golf Courses at Golf de Raray

La Licorne

This is the club’s pride and joy and is rated as one of the best golf courses in Europe. Measuring 6,720 yards from the tips this challenging par 72 course will test even the best ball strikers while several tee positions make it accessible to higher handicappers as well. Generous fairways have been carved out of a centenary forest so any errant tee shots will find its way into the trees and well positioned bunkers require good course management. This course has a fairytale atmosphere that changes with the seasons.

Le Daguet

This par 35 nine hole beauty opens out onto the Plain of Valois and offers stunning views of the French countryside. Bordered by various fruit trees, this challenging nine hole layout is perfect for those looking for a less taxing round of golf.

Le Faon

Le Faon is a charming little pitch and putt which provides golfers with a great place to sharpen up their shortgame skills before taking on the main attraction and an ideal solution for those who are pressed for time.

The Club House and pro shop are very small and in the 'old' buildings of the Chateau courtyard. The course was in excellent condition. Again long par fours and threes. Mainly tree lined fairways, very few level greens but all were in vg condition. Again a good test for all abilities, very good value for money. We teed off at 11am and there very other players there on a Wednesday.
