Real Guadalhorce Club de Golf is just 15 minutes from Malaga Airport, so it's a smart choice for an arrival-day warm-up or a final round before you fly home. Expect classic Spanish parkland golf, a mature layout that rewards sensible course management but still gives mid-to-high handicappers room to play and enjoy themselves.
The two nines have very different personalities. The front nine winds through established Andalucian countryside, with tree-lined holes and generally forgiving sightlines off the tee. If you're swinging it well there are birdie chances, but it's also a comfortable nine for anyone who simply wants to keep the ball in play and build a score. The back nine asks a bit more of you. Water comes into play on several holes, so it's about picking the right club, favouring the safe side and committing to your approach shots. It's not overly penal, but you do need to think your way round rather than just grip it and rip it.
Whatever your handicap, you can score here. Better players will find enough risk and reward to chase a low number, while higher handicappers can reach most par 4s and par 5s in regulation with a straight tee shot. It's also well placed for a multi-course Costa del Sol itinerary, with Alhaurin, La Cala and Torrequebrada Golf all within easy reach.
Who is this for?
Anyone building a Costa del Sol itinerary who wants a quality course close to Malaga Airport, perfect for day one or day last.
Who is it best for?
Mixed-ability groups and societies. It's friendly from the tee on the front nine, then asks for smarter decisions on the back nine where water tightens the test.

Designed by Jimenez himself. Beautiful surroundings and again made very welcome. More open course than the Calanova but again did not disappoint. Some spectacular holes and my wife and I both loved our day at the Guadalhorce. It is a very busy course and from out experience the put groups out on back nine as well as front nine. This made the back nine really slow BUT it did not ruin the day. Another gem of a course.
