The Heritage Golf Club is ranked as one of the best courses in Mauritius, set where the island's rolling interior meets the turquoise Indian Ocean lagoon. You've effectively got two very different rounds in one place, Le Chateau for classic resort golf and La Reserve for a proper links-style test, which means you can mix up your week without bouncing between venues.
Le Chateau is the more traditional resort course, with generous fairways, pristine greens and holes that flow through gentle foothills towards the ocean. It's a round you can enjoy even if you're not striping it, but there's still plenty to think about from the tee. The routing takes full advantage of the natural contours, offering strategic interest without overwhelming mid to high handicappers, while the conditioning and presentation remain consistently excellent year-round.
La Reserve is the headline act for many golfers, widely regarded as the only links-style layout in the Indian Ocean. Every hole frames panoramic ocean views, with firm, fast-running fairways, strategic bunkering and wind that demands proper course management. It feels refreshingly close to the real thing, with rumpled ground, natural grasses and the kind of turf that asks you to plan, flight the ball and use the ground, especially when the breeze gets up. If you like shaping shots and playing creative golf, it's a brilliant change of pace from a classic resort round. For golfers who've played Scotland or Ireland, it's a familiar challenge in an unfamiliar setting. For those new to links golf, it's an education in how the game rewards smart course management and a bit of creativity.
Staying on the same estate for two contrasting tests is what makes Heritage such a strong pick for a longer Mauritius break. You can play back-to-back rounds that ask different questions of your game without the hassle of extra travel or logistics.
Who is this for?
Golfers building a Mauritius week around great courses, strong conditioning and standout scenery, especially if you want two proper rounds on one resort base.
Who is it best for?
Groups and confident golfers who want to add a links-style round in the tropics, plus anyone planning three to five rounds and wanting variety without extra travel.

Le Chateau course is located within the lush, landscaped grounds of an elegant 19th century chateau, and naturally blessed with lakes, streams and grand centenary trees.
The generous fairways sweep down from the foothills to the ocean and are exquisitely conditioned year round. Having already hosted the Mauritius Open & the DP World Tour you can be assured that you will be following in the footsteps of the Pro's when playing Le Chateau.

La Reserve Golf Links serves up panoramic ocean views from every hole, the co-designers of Open Champion Louis Oosthuizen & Peter Matkovich have created a layout that has already been listed to host the DP World Tour Mauritius Open.
Oosthuizen has been quoted as saying "What strikes you when you arrive at La Reserve Golf Links is the site itself, it’s truly spectacular. It’s dramatic, it’s different, and quite unique."
La Reserve Golf Links plays hand-in-hand with nature, the fields that were once used for sugar cane production have been sensitively planted with native grasses to create rich rolling grasslands, encouraging ecological diversity.

A great golf course with different tees to suit all standards. Generous fairways and bail out areas around greens. Nevertheless, the elevation changes and countoring means that even the better player has to play well to score well. A good test for players of all abilities.

The course is long and a challenge for all levels whether you play off the tips, black tees or the whites & yellows. Well maintained fairways and greens. Staff are exceptional.

Fantastic course and clubhouse, however, very difficult and I play off 5 hcp. I wouldn't recommend unless single figure hcp golfer, and do not play off the white tees, it's just too long and difficult IMO. However, it is a fantastic golf course .

The rough is too thick, it needs thinning. You could literally stand and drop a ball in it and not find it. The layout is very appealing to the eye. I wouldn’t call it a true links like we have in the UK. Nice course to play a couple of times, bug the Chateaux course plays better.

Best golf course I have ever played! A "bucket list" course like St Andrews or Pebble Beach. Links style but down a hill overlooking the Indian Ocean!! Buggies are mandatory and necessary as you drive to the top of the course for approx 20 mins to get to the first tee. Take plenty of balls because you will lose some. Expensive but worth playing once in your life. Wow

Good quality holiday golf course. Need buggies in 30 degrees however. No electric trolleys for hire only push. The cynic in me suggests that this is because they want you to pay for a buggy every day.....
