DoubleTree by Hilton Bristol City Centre is a smart, central base for a Bristol golf break, especially if you want your evenings to be as easy as your tee times. You're right in the city, around a five-minute walk from Temple Meads rail station, with straightforward motorway access if you're driving in. That makes it a strong shout for societies and mixed groups travelling from different parts of the UK.
When you're not on the course, you've got plenty within easy reach. Cabot Circus is close for shopping and casual food, while the Bristol Hippodrome and the aquarium are both within a mile, ideal if you're turning it into a weekend away with non-golfers in the group. The big advantage here is flexibility. You can play 18, head back, shower up and be out for dinner and a couple of pints without having to rely on taxis all night.
For golf, you're well positioned for a good spread of Bristol favourites. Knowle Golf Club, Henbury Golf Club and The Kendleshire are all an easy drive, giving you a good mix of layouts within a short radius so you can tailor the golf to your group's handicaps and appetite for a sterner test.

As a 4-star city-centre hotel, DoubleTree delivers exactly what most golfers want from accommodation on a UK break: comfort, reliability and a smooth set-up for groups. Rooms are modern and en-suite, with flat-screen satellite TV, free WiFi throughout, rainfall showers, complimentary toiletries and a hairdryer. It's the kind of place you can check in, drop the bags and be ready for the first tee without any faff.
One of the nicest touches is the hotel restaurant, set within the building's historic glass kiln structure, which gives it a bit more personality than you might expect from a city chain. Breakfast and dinner are covered with modern British cooking, handy if your group wants to keep plans simple, especially on arrival night or after a late finish. If you're planning early tee times, it's worth checking breakfast hours in advance so you're not rushing.
You've also got 24-hour access to the fitness centre, useful for a loosen-up before golf or a quick stretch after walking 18. For society organisers or corporate groups, there are 12 meeting rooms including a conference facility, so it can work for presentation-led trips or mixed business and golf itineraries.
If you're driving, confirm parking options and costs at the point of booking. If you're arriving by train, the Temple Meads walk is a real bonus, particularly if you're travelling with clubs and don't want to start the weekend hunting for taxis. The central location means you're never far from Bristol's food scene, whether that's Cabot Circus for chain restaurants and quick bites or the independent spots around Harbourside and Clifton if you want something a bit more memorable after your round.
The hotel works particularly well for groups who want to keep logistics simple. Everyone can meet in the bar after golf, decide where to eat and be there in 10 minutes on foot. That kind of flexibility matters when you're organising a trip for mixed abilities or mixed interests, and it's one of the main reasons Bristol works so well as a golf break destination when you pair it with the right courses nearby.

Unfortunately when we arrived at the Hilton our four rooms were not on the system. The reception staff were great in dealing with it however this took some time and after a long day of golf and no dinner we never ended up being able to eat until 2230 by the time we had been able to change and then go to a restaurant. My shower was broken which I reported but nothing was done about it. We was not able to use the shower for the stay. The facilities were OK bit not used and the bar was accommodating serving us until gone 3am Friday and Saturday night. Bit pricey but I guess it's a hotel.
