Less than an hour from Almeria Airport and a short walk from Almerimar Marina, Hotel Golf Almerimar is a smart 5-star base for a Costa Almeria golf break. Opened in 2012, it pairs modern, spacious rooms with strong leisure facilities and puts you right next to Almerimar Golf Course, a well-regarded layout that's been a local favourite since 1967 thanks to its sound design and typically reliable conditioning.

Off the course, you've got options. The marina is close enough for an easy post-round wander, with plenty of waterfront bars and restaurants and a lively feel without the full-on buzz of the Costa del Sol. If you're building a longer trip, the beach is also nearby, giving the group a simple split-day routine: morning tee time, afternoon sun and a relaxed dinner by the boats.

For couples and small groups who want genuine comfort, a proper spa and a quieter Andalusian setting, this resort ticks a lot of boxes. It's particularly good for organisers who want everything in one place: golf close by, food on-site, pools for downtime and enough around the marina to keep evenings easy. You've got 5-star comfort, solid dining and a spa that's ideal after 18. The course is close enough that golf stays the focus, not the logistics.

Who is this for?
Golfers or golf groups wanting a high-quality resort base on the Costa Almeria, with easy access from Almeria Airport, modern 5-star facilities and a relaxed marina setting that combines golf with beach, spa and waterfront dining.

Who is it best for?
Couples and small groups seeking a quieter alternative to the Costa del Sol, with the convenience of on-site golf, comprehensive wellness facilities and the option to explore nearby courses whilst enjoying genuine luxury accommodation and a more laid-back coastal atmosphere.

Almerimar Golf Club

The layout was conceived by the legendary South African, Gary Player, in conjunction with Ron Kirby, and is an outstanding resort course. The wide fairways are bordered by amazing palm trees, and the layout is punctuated by a number of dangerous but beautiful water hazards. As is the case with every good modern resort course, Almerimar has a good variety of tees, to ensure that there is a suitable challenge for every visitor.

Make sure to be ready from the outset, as the opening hole is a stunning short hole, which demands a carry of some 100 metres over water. The natural beauty that surrounds the course makes it really special, while the golf course is sure to leave a lasting impression on every visitor during their golfing holiday.

Accommodation at Hotel Golf Almerimar 5*

Hotel Golf Almerimar offers 112 spacious rooms across a range of categories, from double deluxe through to executive suites, all finished in a contemporary style with clean lines and quality fixtures throughout. Every room comes equipped with complimentary Wi-Fi, flat-screen satellite television, en-suite bathroom and generous living space, whilst private terraces or balconies provide views across the golf course and manicured gardens below. The layout and finish make these rooms particularly well suited to golfers, with ample space for luggage and equipment, plus the convenience of being able to step out onto your balcony and survey the course before your round.

Dining at the hotel is built around the main buffet restaurant, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout the day, alongside a more refined à la carte option that focuses on traditional Mediterranean cuisine supported by a good wine list. For lighter bites and refreshments, the poolside bar and lobby bar both serve snacks, drinks and cocktails from morning through to evening, whilst the clubhouse restaurant at the golf course is handy immediately before or after your round. Beyond the hotel grounds, the Almerimar Marina is within easy walking distance and offers a further selection of waterfront bars and restaurants, complete with views of the luxury yachts moored along the quayside.

The spa and wellness centre is a genuine highlight, featuring a fully equipped fitness suite, large indoor pool, jacuzzis, sauna and Turkish bath, with a treatment menu that includes massages that are spot on after 18. Two outdoor pools, one for adults and another for families, are complemented by a third pool at the solarium, giving guests plenty of choice depending on the time of day and preferred atmosphere. The nearby beach, a wide stretch of golden sand, is within easy reach and provides another easy way to switch off between rounds or enjoy a change of scenery during a longer stay.

Wasn't a brilliant hotel very basic.

Our small group has stayed here for many Years (except when awaiting refurbishment). The hotel is impeccably clean and the vast majority are very welcoming. The difficulty seems to be the dichotomy of Management between the Hotel and the Golf Club, where service can be perfunctory. Accommodation sparkling but why, after so many years of asking, can you not make a cup of tea/coffee in your room. We've been back on some 20 visits so it must be doing something right.

After the disastrous greens report from a couple of years ago, this year they were brilliant, in lovely condition and the fairways were trimmed without hayfields being left behind. Congratulations guys. Staff in the Proshop were invariable helpful. The major problem is that the new layout mixture between the three 9's still leads to considerable bunching. We're not sure the changes work. Overall, a good golfing experience.
