Using all the local features, Thomas, to his enormous credit, has managed to build the course to feel mature beyond its few years. Despite its position close to some pretty hilly terrain, the course itself is relatively flat, offering an enjoyable challenge to all those fortunate enough to visit Cardrona for a golfing break.
The testing par-72 championship course is now a regular stop on the PGA Europro Tour, owing not just to the golf course, but also the fantastic practice facilities on-site.
Signature Hole: Hole 7, Par 4, 402 yards
From the 7th tee a straight drive is necessary in order to avoid trees and bunkers flanking the fairway on the left and right respectively. However, the approach shot is the real challenge and the golfer must find a raised, well-protected green making for a tough par.

There was only one minor issue I found however it was on the welcome letter we got from reception.that if you require your room cleaned you had to hang out the please clean card. Found this strange.

A great stay at the Macdonald Cardrona Easy book in with a great size twin room. All staff were very helpful and pleasant Both dinner and breakfast were excellent with a great choice to suit anyone’s taste. The golf course itself was a great test of golf and in immaculate condition for this time of year. A long track, so if not up for the walk I would advise hiring a buggy. All in all a great experience and will definitely be returning 👍🏻

Fantastic stay at this hotel and the facilities and staff were excellent. Came with a party of twelve and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I personally had an issue as my car was bumped in the car park area and the hotel had no CCTV covering that area so that could maybe be looked at for the future. Staff were all very friendly especially Salim and Val. We would definitely return.

We found the staff to be friendly and welcoming. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Our evening meal was extremely well cooked and the portions just right. One minor quibble would be that our drinks weren't included with the meal even though we were well within the allotted budget. Overall, we had a nice comfortable stay.

Long course, especially in the wind but overall a great test and very enjoyable. Fairways and greens were generous but clever run off areas to keep you thinking and sometimes frustrated 😂 Greens fast even for this early in the season and we’re running true

The course was fantastic and it has to be said that the two stars I’ve given (purely our experience) were down to arriving with an older party to be told on the day that the buggies were off with no notification beforehand. This led to half of our party not making it around the course as it’s a long track. The club pro told us that YGT should’ve emailed that week and I wasn’t notified. This was extremely disappointing and led to half the party playing half round on day one with 4 giving it a miss completely on day two. A poor show by whoever was in charge of communications her and could’ve saved some of these gents the trip. Had the buggies been on it would’ve been a brilliant trip as the course was fantastic, but very long but again, very disappointing to be told of this an hour from tee off.

We played in the morning and there was a hard frost which made the first few holes a lottery but when the sun thawed the course it became really enjoyable. It is a well laid out course and is in good condition. It is a long walk (there is considerable distances between some greens and the following tees) so people with mobility issues may struggle. Overall a great experience and one which we would repeat.
