1 Night, 1 Round
- 1 Night Dinner, Bed and Breakfast at Meon Valley Hotel & Country Club
- 1 Round at Meon Course
1 Night, 1 Round
Set in 225 acres between Southampton and the South Downs, Meon Valley is one of those easy-to-book, easy-to-enjoy spots for a short golf break in the South of England. You've got two 18-hole courses on site, a proper leisure club feel and a 4-star hotel, so once you arrive you can pretty much park up and focus on the important stuff: golf, food and a bit of downtime. The resort sits in easy reach of anywhere in the region, making it a straightforward choice for golfers who want quality golf, a comfortable base and everything on site without the hassle of moving around.
The headline course is the Meon, which has a bit of pedigree having hosted senior tour-level golf in the past, so expect a sterner test than your average resort round. The Valley Course provides a more forgiving but still engaging alternative, and both are laid out in a way that suits a couple of rounds over a weekend. Off the course, the resort delivers what you'd expect from a 4-star setup: a health suite with treatment rooms, a fitness centre with pool and steam room, and two dining options that cover everything from post-round pints to sit-down evening meals.
The location works well for groups and couples alike. You're close enough to the coast and the South Downs for off-course exploring, but far enough into the countryside to feel like you've left the everyday behind. The hotel itself is built for both leisure and business travellers, so expect modern rooms, reliable service and a layout that makes sense whether you're here for golf, a spa break or both.
Who is this for?
Golfers or groups looking for a hassle-free UK golf break with quality courses, comfortable accommodation and leisure facilities all in one place, within easy reach of London and the South coast.
Who is it best for?
Mid-to-low handicappers who want a proper championship test on the Meon Course, plus couples or mixed-ability groups who'll appreciate the variety, the spa facilities and the option to play a gentler round on the Valley.

The Meon Course is a regular feature on the European Seniors Tour, and is widely regarded as one of the best in the Southern counties. The 6,520 yard layout is Hampshire’s only European PGA Tour destination and is most memorable for the threatening water hazards, providing a good test for golfers of all abilities. The picturesque 12th may be the most impressive hole, a demanding downhill par-3 where the target is surrounded by water.

The Valley Course may only be a 9-hole setup, but the two loops together comprise a challenging par-70 that measures close to 6,000 yards. The picturesque course is built around a ruined Roman settlement and is maintained to the same standard as the neighbouring Meon, making it an enjoyable round for every golfer.
Meon Valley's practice centre has benefited from the recent addition of an excellent driving range, where the team of PGA professionals utilise the latest video technology for their tuition.

Meon Valley's 113 guest rooms are spread across a modern 4-star hotel that sits comfortably in the Hampshire countryside, about an hour from London and close enough to Southampton for easy access. Each room is spacious and comes with the essentials you'd expect: high-speed internet, satellite television, en-suite bathroom and enough space to unpack properly. The décor is contemporary without being flashy, and the beds are comfortable after a day walking 36 holes.
The real appeal for golfers is how much is available without leaving the grounds. The Health and Beauty Suite employs a qualified team offering everything from sports massages and body wraps to facials, manicures and pedicures, ideal if you're travelling as a couple or want to ease tired legs after a round. The fitness centre includes a swimming pool, steam room and a well-equipped gym with cardiovascular machines and free weights, while an outdoor tennis court adds another option if you fancy a break from golf.
Dining is split between two venues. The Broadstreet Restaurant is the smarter of the two and works well for a relaxed evening meal after golf, with a menu that covers modern British and European dishes. It's the go-to for evening meals, especially if you're celebrating a win or just want a proper sit-down dinner. The Clubhouse, meanwhile, is the natural post-round spot: relaxed, golfer-friendly and serving everything from sandwiches and burgers to steaks and salads, plus a decent drinks list. It's the kind of place where you can settle in after your round, compare scorecards and plan the next day's tee times without feeling rushed.
Room types range from standard doubles to executive rooms and suites, all designed with comfort in mind. The executive rooms offer a bit more square footage and upgraded furnishings, while suites add separate living areas, making them a good choice for longer stays or if you're treating the trip as something special. Whichever room you choose, you're looking at a quiet night's sleep in a countryside setting, with everything you need for a golf break within a short walk.
Everything is close together, so you can finish your round, grab a drink in the Clubhouse and be back in your room or the pool in minutes. For groups, that simple on-site setup is half the appeal.

Bars were good but evening meal was a buffet style and only average. It felt like a canteen rather than an evening meal experience. They provided two bottles of wine as a gesture. Overall worst aspect of our stay was the evening meal.

The rooms are as expected clean, roomy and comfortable. We arrived early 9.30am and there’s no facilities to get a coffee and bacon roll the bar opens at 11am we was told to wait outside bar til it opens.. dinner was buffet style wasn’t offered any service told we had to go round the corner to the bar to get drinks and bring them back. Lack of food and not replenished and barely warm. We had to order pizzas to be delivered. We will not be returning

I found the hotel to be very tired. Bedroom was very dusty and grubby. Breakfast was good but dinner was a buffet and poor. Starters were 2 options as was the dessert. Most disappointing was no drinks were offered.

Great venue, food service very poor. Had to wait till 11am to order hot rolls on arrival, no labels on evening meals, no sauces or gravy, very limited choice all round. No one to serve drinks from restaurant, have to fetch your own. Told by reception that breakfast was from 8.00 tiill 10.00, arrived at 9.05 to find doors closed, was advised to bang on door for entry. Food stopped cooking at 9.00, had to have whatever was remaining, as we're others. Staff and catering management in urgent need of serious overall and organisation, completely put a dampener on the stay. Was doing a recce for a golf society break, will not be recommending this venue.

We had a very good stay. The only thing that surprised us was breakfast finished at 9, I know what on the leaflet but I think it would have been worth being told at checking in as this is very early and caught 7 of us out (3 different groups)

First time staying at Meon Valley and all was really very good. The overall rating just slipped to 5 stars as it just felt that the hotel needed a bit of 'freshening up', though this may have been because it was near the end of the summer.

Using a lot of very average winter mats. Shame buggies not in use. In good condition given the winter rain. Played harder second day in winds. A good course and looked after well by pro shop re our competitions .

Unfortunately our 1st round was following a group of 20 ladies and it took just over 5 hours. Our second round was following the seniors but still did it in 4 1/4 hours. Scenery is stunning with so many beautiful old trees.

First time playing this course and I would have given it 5 stars for every aspect but the long hot summer and drought conditions meant that the fairways were very dry but the overall condition of the course outside of this was excellent.
