Golf Courses at The Dorset Golf & Country Club Resort
The different combinations offer welcome variety, while the undeniable quality of the golf course has resulted in the Dorset being selected to host countless professional tournaments including the South-West PGA Championship and a MasterCard Tour event. The toughest combination measures over 7,000 yards from the tips and ranks in the top 150 courses in the UK, but there are tees to suit golfers of all standards.
The Lakeland & Parkland Courses
These loops are considered to be the Dorset's championship layout, and are characterised by beautifully shaped greens that will demand maximum attention. The fairways and putting surfaces are protected by strategically positioned bunkers, while golfers must negotiate the network of lakes and streams that traverse the landscape.

The Woodlands
The Woodlands loop may be slightly shorter than Dorset's two premier courses, but the tight, tree-lined fairways are carved from a dramatic forest of stunning rhododendrons, and demand accuracy above all else.
With 27 excellent holes, a 22-bay driving range and a short game area, the Dorset Golf & Country Club is undoubtedly one of the most comprehensive golfing destinations in the region.

We stayed in one of the lodges which was quite frankly superb, great accommodation, very spacious and modern with 4 bathrooms and a sauna, 3 bedrooms were ensuite, dining table seated 8, a huge lounge with 4 settee's and a large tv and a stereo system. Tea,coffee, milk etc were all provided, whole group were impressed and we will be returning.

Stayed in the lodges which are superb, food was amazing and the staff looked after us really well all friendly and polite - would totally recommend to any group of golfers

friendly staff with excellent dining experience

Rooms were fine for a weekend golf getaway, and we got checked into our rooms prior to teeing off, which was great. Staff were really nice and obliging, from reception to Pro shop, Marshall’s, restaurant, bars etc. One of the friendliest venues for us. Breakfast and dinner were very good, with a good dinner menu. We would have no hesitation in returning there in future years.

Very good

A venue perfect for golf groups. Food high quality, drink prices reasonable and courses interesting and in good condition. Organisation is very impressive, everything runs to plan.

The lodges are great for large groups, clean and comfortable with fantastic communal areas. Food in the hotel was good. The hotel lacks some facilities, such as a swimming pool & spa, but is largely a Golf Club first and a resort second. The bar lacks atmosphere, but again is a Golf Club first, so the bar is more like a large clubhouse. Overall, I would recommend for groups of golfers (of a certain age), but don't expect the bar to be a party bar!!

Hotel rooms are very basic, 19’s in style, so dated! Bathroom was dated, with an electric shower that sounded like a jet engine. Bathroom was also grubby. Pillows and duvet smelt well used. Ground staff started at 07:30 with range ball collector outside our bedroom window, left engine running, so an early morning call !
Golf was good but you’re not able to take buggy to car park, so can be a long walk depending on where parked. £5 deposit required for buggy, even though paid upfront. They will only give coins back! Where are all the £5 notes in Dorset. Unable to refund to card either. Strange.
Food and service excellent.
I wouldn’t stay in the hotel again.

10th time here and the standard still the same high quality. The good and choices to be had was excellent along with the courteous and friendly staff

The log cabins have everything you need and are clean and tidy. Staff in the bar and restaurant are always helpful, no table service for drinks whilst eating was a surprise this year.

Again we stayed in three lodges and found them to be clean very well appointed for our needs. The food at dinner and breakfast and choices our group of 16 found very good on each day. Since this was our third time at Dorset every thing about the resort runs very smoothly, golf, bar and food, plus the 3 golf courses are in good condition.

Great stay. Staff were polite, pleasant, efficient. Good system for meals(pre booking dinner) and food plentiful and tasty. Good breakfast. Felt safe with procedures in place in these strange times. Would recommend for a break. Gym facilities small but sufficient. Big bowling event so didn’t get to sample that. Would go again

Our lodge was well appointed comfortable. The bars and restaurants were well run with pleasant and helpful staff. Food quality excellent overall
10 / 10
Superb accommodation. We stayed in one of the lodges for one night and it had everything we needed for the 8 of us. 2nd time visiting and I would expect a 3rd is not too far away!
10 / 10
The Woodland Cottage was perfect for our party. The other lodges were good but this was a step up. Food was reasonable and office on arrival really helpful. Shame about availability of buggy when one of our party got injured but there we go.
8 / 10
All the staff were really friendly and helpful and the catering was good too. The only thing I would say is that the lounge chairs would be more comfortable if they were normal indoor furniture and not conservatory furniture with saggy cushions.
10 / 10
The lodges are excellent and very spacious for three couples sharing. Tea, coffee and milk is provided which is a nice touch. We were a group of 12 couples who enjoy an annual golf break together and our experience at the Dorset Resort proved to be the best so far. The staff never missed a step, providing excellent service and always helpful. Both breakfast and dinner very good. We played all three nine holes courses over two days which were in good condition and very interesting. Our group will return!

The hotel is opposite the golf complex - the food & bar facilities located in the club house were very good. it was excellent value for money as it was a Sunday Driver. the facilities are excellent for groups/societies etc.

Overall a great weekend staff were great friendly and very helpful, lovely food , the course was immaculate and the 3 accommodation plots were stunning myself and the 15 other people that went would all recommend and go back to the Dorset again 5star service

Nice well laid out rooms, could have done with being slightly larger as we had lots to dry as it rained. Having said that they were clean, comfortable and well finished.
10 / 10
Possibly the best facility I have been to in 10 years of YGT trips. Lodges were excellent, food was good, staff were friendly and helpful
10 / 10
The best of everything in one place !! Even with the restrictions of COVID-19
8 / 10
The food was brilliant, good selection. We stayed in a lodge, which was very nice to have your own space. Only down side is that golf buggies can not be taken to lodges. Meaning you have to either walk your clubs to clubhouse or use car each day to transport clubs. Some sort of club store would be good.
10 / 10
We stayed in the bungalow lodge away from the hotel which was amazing - lots of room and everything you could need.
6 / 10
The staff at the hotel very over officious. I found them to be at times rude, but this was only the staff in the clubhouse, the guys in the pro shop and the starter extremely helpful. The room was extremely hot and stuffy although they did provide a fan it was insufficient. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere so venturing out for evening drinks or entertainment was off the cards due to the cost and duration of travel.
10 / 10
Warm welcome, clean, tidy, efficient.
10 / 10
The self catering wood lodges were ideal for a large group as they had plenty of communal space for everyone to get together after the days golf. They were well equipped, in really good condition and the beds were comfortable. The meals served in the restaurant were excellent, not fine dining but good quality and substantial, just what's needed after a day out on the course, we certainly didn't go hungry!
8 / 10
The lodges are great, they cater for all, very roomy, great value, if i was being honest, there looking a bit dated furniture wise
10 / 10
8 ladies stayed in 2 lodges.Fabulous ,clean and roomy.
Slight issue with pathway going out of bungalow lodge.Due to slabs being the same colour 1 lady didn`t see the step and fell down injuring shoulder and missing out on 2nd days golf.Incident reported.

The accommodation was very good although, we both thought the mattresses were far too soft(worn). The shower was good but very noisy.(water pump).
