Set above Fistral Beach, The Esplanade Hotel has one of the best coastal spots in Cornwall. You're right on the edge of Newquay's surf scene with the Atlantic in front of you and the town's bars, restaurants and shops close enough for an easy wander.
For golfers, it's a smart base if you want to mix coastal golf with a lively seaside atmosphere. Newquay Golf Club is nearby for a handy warm-up round, while the North Cornwall favourites like Trevose, St Enodoc and Perranporth are all realistic day trips. That means you can chase links golf by day then be back in time for a relaxed dinner and a drink without spending half the trip in the car.
The hotel itself is contemporary and comfortable, built for switching off after a wind-battered round. There's a laid-back restaurant and bar on site and, when the weather does what it often does on this stretch of coastline, the indoor pool is a welcome bonus. If your ideal golf break includes sea air, beach walks and a good buzz in the evenings, The Esplanade ticks a lot of boxes.

Rooms at The Esplanade are modern and straightforward, ideal for golfers who want a comfortable base rather than a full golf resort. The big win is the setting. Being perched above Fistral means you can start the day with a look at the surf and finish it with the sunset over the Atlantic, all without leaving the hotel.
Food and drink are geared towards easy, no-fuss downtime. The restaurant focuses on local produce with seafood featuring heavily, which suits a post-round refuel nicely. The bar keeps the mood relaxed, whether you're debriefing the day's scorecards or sorting the next morning's tee time. In good weather, the terrace is a great spot for a quiet pint before heading into town.
Facilities are a bonus on a coastal break, particularly when the wind picks up. The indoor pool gives you an option on non-golf afternoons or recovery days, while Newquay's beaches are on your doorstep if you fancy a walk, a swim or simply watching the action at Fistral.
It's also a practical choice for groups. You've got the town close by for evenings out and a location that works well for building an itinerary across the North Cornwall coast. The team can help with local recommendations and timings if you're heading out for an early tee time. If you're after an on-site course and a full golf complex, this isn't that. If you want a comfortable, well-located hotel that puts you close to great links golf and right in the middle of Newquay's energy, it fits the brief.

Food was excellent, staff on the whole friendly, but somewhat grasping at COVID, the rooms were dated and overheated, with no control system. The location was good for both Newquay & Perranporth Golf Clubs.
