The Grove’s golfing complex opened to a fanfare of publicity, having been designed by Kyle Phillips, who shot to fame with his incredible creation at Kingsbarns. His terrific layout at The Grove has lived up to its billing, and successfully hosted the world’s best professionals for the American Express World Golf Championship in 2006 which was won by former world no. 1 Tiger Woods.

The Grove also played host to the 2016 British Masters, which had returned to The European Tour schedule in 2015 after an 8 years absence. The tournament was hosted by also a former world no. 1 Luke Donald.

The Grove

The 7,152 yard course is a resort style stadium track that you may think would be more at home in America, with its massive, undulating greens and expanses of sand. But The Grove has been a welcome addition to the United Kingdom's golfing portfolio, and is ideally equipped to play host to the foremost professional tournaments.

Phillips has blended his golf course into the natural surroundings with great sympathy, and has used the latest technology, including cutting-edge A4 creeping bent grass to ensure firm, fast putting surfaces. Among many fantastic holes is the superb 4th, a daunting par-3 which requires a good long iron to carry the water, characterising the memorable experience of a round on Phillips' truly excellent club.

2016 British Masters

As mentioned, The Grove played host to the 2016 British Masters with a high-profile field including the likes of Lee Westwood, Graeme McDowell, Matthew Fitzpatrick and The 2012 Ryder Cup Captain Jose Maria Olazabal. All the players commented on the fantastic condition the course was in, and in particular the super slick greens which added to the challenge. Alex Noren of Sweden came out on top come Sunday with an impressive score of 18 under par. He birdied two of the last 4 holes on Sunday to win the event by 2 shots ahead of Bernd Wiesberger.

The Grove is ranked as one of the best courses in London and the South East

Accommodation at The Grove

The Grove is home to the 2005 AA Hotel of the Year, an award that is testament to the outstanding quality of the 214 rooms and suites. The luxurious bedrooms are divided between the contemporary West Wing, whose superior and deluxe spaces are fitted with the best fabrics and furnishings, and the palatial Mansion, where open fireplaces and four-poster beds are among the opulent extras.

The beauty of the Grove is that it marries perfectly the elegance of the 18th century country house and the contemporary comfort and convenience of a modern 5* hotel, all of which results in arguably the most impressive resort in England to host your next golf break, society day or corporate outing.

The luxurious Sequoia Spa at the Grove was voted by Conde Nast as the ‘Best UK Spa Retreat’, where the most advanced health and beauty treatments are embellished by the use of the divine Bamford and Natura Bisse product range. The leisure club is a comprehensive facility where guests can use the indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room and spa pool while outside there are superb tennis courts. Amazingly, the Grove also has its very own beach, a 17,000 sq. foot expanse of golden sand complete with an international standard volleyball court.

The Glasshouse is a truly international kitchen, where wood-fired ovens, rotisseries and woks are among the tools the chefs utilise every day. The original outhouse has been converted to create the Stables, a comfortable all-day restaurant set in charming, traditional surroundings.

The Grove is situated adjacent to the M25, making it incredibly easy to access from London and its airports.
