THE PLAYERS Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass is a proper golfing landmark one that golfers happily play with a camera in hand as well as a scorecard. As the long-time home of THE PLAYERS Championship, it's set up to make you think on every shot, with water, bunkering and sightlines that can feel a bit intimidating from the tee.
Of course, it's the par-3 17th with its island green being arguably the most recognisable hole in golf that grabs the headlines. It's short on the card but huge on nerves, especially if the wind gets up. But don't treat the rest as a warm-up, there are plenty of risk-reward moments where a sensible line beats a heroic one. You'll see Pete Dye's fingerprints everywhere, angles off the tee, greens that reward the right side of the fairway and hazards that look closer than they are.
TPC Sawgrass sits in Ponte Vedra Beach on Florida's north-east coast, roughly a two-hour drive from Orlando airport, so it's an easy add-on if you're building a wider Florida trip. It also works brilliantly as a dedicated stay, thanks to the on-site Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa and the option to play Dye's Valley as well as the Stadium Course for a bit of variety.
If you want the "where the pros play" experience without the faff, Sawgrass does it in style.

Pete Dye's THE PLAYERS Stadium Course is among the most famous in the world, and is the annual host to the so-called ‘fifth major', the Players Championship. The highlight, which goes without saying, is the incredible 17th hole with its island green, which has to be one of the most exhilarating golf experiences anywhere. Look past the most discussed hole and the TPC Stadium Course presents an exacting 6,954 yard layout, whose fairways and greens are pristine. No less than $30 million has been invested in the course, and the work completed in 2006 has affirmed the amazing Players' Course at the forefront of golf in Florida and beyond.
The trophy and awards cabinet of the THE PLAYERS Stadium Course is already overflowing, but it has recently been ranked 5th in Golf Magazine's list of the ‘Top 100 Courses You Can Play'.
THE PLAYERS Stadium Course is ranked as one of the best courses in America
Signature Hole: Hole 17, Par 3, 137 yards, SI 14
The concept for the signature hole for Sawgrass was supposedly drawn up on the back of a cocktail napkin by Alice Dye. It has now become one of the most famous holes in golf and one which Luke Donald branded as "Do or Die. The island green is a favourite amongst many PGA Tour players and coming in at 17 has been known to make or break a round. A must play hole for any golfer.

This addition to TPC Sawgrass is Pete Dye's Valley Course, which is already regarded as being worthy of standing side-by-side with the TPC Stadium Course, and has also hosted the PGA Tour's finest.
The ambitious project reflects Dye's extravagant design ethos, and the result is a magnificent 6,838 yard championship layout overflowing with water and sand. Perfectly manicured fairways and slick, sweeping greens are among the characteristics that make the Valley so popular.

Just a magical experience. The practice facilities are amazing. The course was a wee bit rough around the edges, I guess that's because of the amount of golf played. Other than that every hole is a really good hole and the greens were awesome. A slight negative is the buggies. You are forced to keep the buggies to the cart path which; slows down the round and takes away from the overall experience. If you can play when it's not so hot and walk the course the extra for a caddy would be well worth it. Bucket list course ticked off. PS. Hit the green at 17 which was about the only good shit I played all day 😂

True bucket list golf. The course was immaculate, fairways, bunkers and even the first cut. Caddies were included in the fee, although we were told there was a mandatory tip of $45 dollars a player when we arrived at the first tee. A bit cheeky as we’d just paid the better part of $800 dollars.

This was the course we were all looking forward to playing and it didn’t let us down it was in excellent condition the greens were quick and a lot smaller than they look on television. The caddies we got were really nice guys and we were treated really well in the clubhouse and golf shop definitely heading back here again

Impressive clubhouse. Great breakfast. Course was great but challenging with a two club breeze. Greens are well guarded and fast when you do get on them. 17th did not disappoint. Nice touch with the bag tag at the end of your round. Left it feeling like I did after St Andrews. You've got to play it for the history and everything that goes with it, but it ain't cheap and there are better golf courses.

A better round than the first with regards to pace of play and playing partners which helped us immensely. Still tough, Greens very fast, Rough Penak, but still a fantastic Golf Course.

A lovely Golf Course slightly easier than the stadium course, but still a challenge and thoroughly recommended if you get the chance.

The Players had just finished, so the Greens were like glass and the rough was penal, so it was very tough, but still enjoyable albeit it being a very slow round. We played with two guys who were not the best golfers and they really struggled, they were nice, but it was hard to get a rhythm going. But still my No 1 Golf Course ❤️
