Bom Sucesso is a modern 5-star golf resort on Portugal's Lisbon Coast, set between the Atlantic and the Óbidos lagoon. It's a smart option for groups who want a quality course on site, plenty to do away from the fairways and easy access to one of the most characterful corners of the Silver Coast.
The resort has a contemporary, design-led feel throughout, with bold architecture across the villa and apartment neighbourhoods and open views out towards the lagoon and coastline. You're well placed for days off too, with Óbidos just a short drive away for cobbled streets, castle views and relaxed Portuguese dining. If you want to stretch the trip, you've also got plenty of other Lisbon Coast golf within reach.
On property, the facilities make it easy to keep everyone happy. There are swimming pools, tennis and padel courts, a football pitch and walking trails around the estate. It's the kind of place that works brilliantly for a society tour where not everyone is golfing every day, or a couple or family break where golf is the main event but not the only plan.
Who is this for?
Golfers who want a modern 5-star base on the Lisbon Coast with self-catering apartments and villas, plenty of non-golf facilities and a course that plays best when you think your way round.
Who is it best for?
Societies, groups and mixed trips where some are golfing hard and others want pools, beach days and easy evenings in Óbidos.

With a testing par of 72, Bom Sucesso's golf course was devised by Donald Steel, one of the preeminent modern golf architects and the man responsible for some of Europe's best new layouts.
The resort course is laid out across a huge area of more than 6,000 square metres, and the state-of-the-art construction principles mean that it has matured well in its short existence, presenting a truly enjoying golfing experience - an essential for any golf holiday visitor to the northern Lisbon coast.
Accommodation at Bom Sucesso is centred around self-catering apartments and villas spread across the resort. The look is unapologetically modern, with clean lines, lots of glass and bright, open interiors. It's ideal for golf groups who want space to spread out, store clubs easily and settle into a relaxed routine between rounds.
There are 601 units in total, designed by a collection of contemporary architects, so you get real variety in style and layout across the resort. Inside, expect high-spec finishes, comfortable living space and fully equipped kitchens, making it easy to keep costs predictable for groups. Many units also come with private terraces or balconies, with views across the course, lagoon or out towards the Atlantic on the right plots.
Sizes range from smaller apartments that suit couples through to larger villas for bigger groups. That flexibility is a big plus for societies and mixed trips, as you can mix and match unit types without splitting the group across different hotels. It also works well for longer stays, especially if you like the freedom of self-catering after an afternoon round.
Away from the accommodation, the resort facilities help fill the non-golf hours. You've got swimming pools for downtime, tennis and padel courts, a football pitch and walking trails around the estate. For beach time, you're close to the Atlantic coastline, with easy access to the surrounding beaches.
If you fancy eating out, Óbidos is a short drive away and is well worth a visit for traditional Portuguese restaurants, wine bars and cafes. It's a great option for an easy group dinner night, especially if you want something beyond the usual clubhouse meal. The town itself is one of Portugal's most picturesque medieval villages, so it doubles as a proper day out for anyone in the group who fancies a break from golf.

This course has a great design and wonderful holes. I know the resort has struggled with bankruptcy in the past and money is short but they have tried to keep the course in the best shape they can. The design is fabulous. Might not be up to standards of others in area but still a challenging lovely course to play

Course not well maintained. Fairways not cut. Looked a bit like a ghost town. Some really nice holes but maintenance let it down

From the practice area, to the tees, fairways and greens, the whole setup is really shabby. The villas and accommodation around the course all look really run down. The course itself had some very good golf holes, but the condition was very poor. We were due to play for a second time on our last day and the forcast was for heavy rain. On the morning, the forcast was wrong and was a nice day but we all decided to relax at the hotel and then go out for lunch instead !

Slightly apprehensive when arrived not helped by the weather but wow what an excellent course. Ok to walk carrying it with a trolley Didn’t stay here for food but what we saw brought out for other customers looked very

The course just needs tiding up, with some scruffy areas, and tee boxes. Greens were good, and again there are some fantastically designed holes. Rounds here will be slow because there are some natural bottlenecks, particularly on 17, with a mostly blind tee shot, followed by a blind second shot, and the first time of playing it golfers have no idea where the slopes have taken the ball. 18 is a really good closing hole, but the general view was that it was a d course that could be taken to another level with a bit more care of presentation.
