Brokenhurst Manor Golf Club sits on the edge of the New Forest, just outside the village of Brockenhurst in Hampshire. It's an easy run from Southampton or Bournemouth, which makes it a handy course to slot into a south coast golf break, either as a warm-up round on arrival or a final-day send-off.
The tree-lined fairways and heathland feel give it a properly classic look, but don't be fooled by the scenery. This is a course that tends to reward accuracy and sensible positioning rather than simply trying to overpower it, so it suits golfers who enjoy plotting their way round and taking their chances when they appear.
There's a bit of pedigree here too. Justin Rose set the course record at Brokenhurst Manor back in 1996, and the club has stayed firmly on the radar since. In 2020 it also hosted an event on the Rose Ladies Series, a tournament initiative backed by Rose to support women's professional golf.
Off the course, the clubhouse is properly traditional, the sort of place that feels welcoming the moment you walk in. Ideal for a post-round pint and a quick debrief before you look at where you're playing next. If you're planning a New Forest stay with a solid, strategic round in the mix, Brokenhurst Manor is well worth considering. It's a great 'arrive-and-play' option on a south coast itinerary, especially if you're pairing golf with a New Forest stay and want a course that rewards placement over power.

Set in the heart of the New Forest in Hampshire, Brokenhurst Manor is just a short drive from the main stretch of road into Bournemouth – perfect for golfers who want to enjoy a round on their way to one of the South’s top tourist destinations.
The course was originally designed by the legendary Harry Colt and it is a testament to his design back in 1915 that it remains a stern test for the modern game. Aesthetically stunning with fairways threading through the forest, the key to a good round is avoiding the strategically positioned bunkers and reading the tricky undulating greens.
Known for its superb condition and measuring 6222 yards in length, the undulating layout is set in beautiful forest surroundings that are perfect for a competitive match or a relaxing sociable game.
The railway company changed the village name by adding a 'c' but the golf club has kept the original spelling of Brokenhurst which is closer to the pre-Norman Conquest version of Brocenhyrst, meaning 'broken wooded hill', as in a hill intersected by streams featuring many clearings.
A large practice area is available a short walk from the clubhouse adjacent to the 18th tee and a recently added short game area means golfers can work on shots to target greens strategically positioned at 50, 75 and 100 Yards.
A large putting green is located directly outside the Pro Shop as well as an all weather putting green for practice all year round. The golf club is currently building an Indoor facility located close to the clubhouse which will house 3 practice nets, these will complement the current nets located near the putting green.
Brokenhurst Manor Golf Club is located in the village of Brockenhurst on the southern edge of the New Forest, just 2 miles from Brockenhurst train station and 17 miles from Bournemouth.

This course was a real bonus and though we also played the highly rated Ferndown, our group of 12 generally rated this up with Ferndown. It's very playable and inviting. It's one of those courses that does not wear you down (We are seniors).

Recommend this course and we would play again. As with the booking for Broadstone it was changed by Your Golf Travel to a different day and tee time. Fortunatley it was a quick round and we just managed to make our dinner reservation.

Disappointed with condition of the course some fairways were lacking in grass. Part of the course being renovated with the addition of what looked like two ponds. Wouldn’t rush back.

Lovely course really stunning, the only issue was the greens they had been spiked and were very sandy but apart form that it was great. I would play at Brokenhurst again and if I lived locally its the sort of club I would join.

A parkland course with some nice holes. Pro and clubhouse was well run and welcoming. I wold expect the green are more challenging in summer when they can shave them down a little.
