3 Nights, 2 Rounds
Less than 20 minutes from Faro International Airport, Domes Lake Algarve is a sleek five-star resort in Vilamoura, tucked between the marina and a wide sweep of golden sand. You're close enough to stroll to waterfront bars and restaurants after your round, but still far enough from the bustle to properly switch off.
For golfers, it's the location that does the heavy lifting. You're around five minutes by car from Vilamoura's headline courses, so you can play championship golf in the morning, be back for a late lunch by the lake, then wander down to the marina for sunset drinks.
On site, the resort is built around a private lake and a standout natural sand-bottom pool, with four restaurants and two bars to keep the group well fed without needing taxis every night. The SOMA Spa adds proper recovery value between rounds with hydrotherapy, a full treatment list and an indoor pool, plus a fitness centre and hair studio.
It also works for mixed groups. Families have the KiEPOS Kids and Baby Club, indoor and outdoor activities and babysitting, while non-golfers get beach time, spa days and easy access to Vilamoura's shopping and nightlife. If you're the organiser, this is the kind of base that keeps everyone happy while you focus on the golf.

The resort offers 192 hotel rooms and suites, plus 45 apartments, all with private balconies overlooking the resort grounds and gardens. Upgrades are available for lake and marina views. The design philosophy is simplicity with luxury, rooms are spacious and comfortable, finished with high-quality bedding, linen and well-appointed bathrooms that feel genuinely premium rather than just polished.
Standard rooms include air conditioning, flat-screen TV, minibar, safe, tea and coffee facilities and generous bathrooms with walk-in showers or bathtubs. Suites add separate living areas, larger balconies and enhanced views. Family rooms and connecting options are available for groups travelling with children. Apartments come with kitchenettes and additional living space, ideal for longer stays or those who prefer self-catering flexibility.
Rooms are a strong fit for golf groups who want comfort without feeling hemmed in, with generous balconies and space to unpack for a long weekend or a full week. There's proper storage for clubs and kit, and the layout means you're not tripping over bags every time you move around the room.
Apartments are a smart option for groups who want extra living space between rounds, or families who prefer the flexibility of a kitchenette for snacks and simpler meals. The separate living areas give you somewhere to spread out in the evening without everyone piling onto beds, which makes a difference on longer trips.
If you're playing early, the breakfast offering at Gustatio is a real advantage, and you're close enough to the courses that you won't feel rushed in the morning. The spread is strong, with hot options, pastries, fresh fruit and decent coffee, so you can fuel up properly before heading out.
On-site dining is varied and high quality. Àcosta serves Portuguese cuisine right on the beach, perfect for post-round seafood and sunset views. Gustatio offers Mediterranean-inspired comfort dishes and a strong breakfast spread, while Antoninos serves up nostalgic Italian comfort food. Blend Nikkei, positioned on the lake, specialises in premium meat cuts and delivers a more refined evening experience.
The Estrella Bar Restaurant provides a relaxed poolside setting for lunch and drinks, while The Migratory Bar is the evening destination for cocktails, wine and creative serves in a more elegant setting.
Beyond the resort, Vilamoura's marina is packed with options. O Cesteiro is the go-to for traditional Algarvian seafood, while Akvavit offers Scandinavian-influenced international cuisine with a prime terrace overlooking the boats.
Leisure facilities include four outdoor pools, one adults-only with a natural sand base, a multi-sports area, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, gym, sauna and relaxation areas. The SOMA Spa draws on global wellness traditions and offers hydrotherapy, high-tech treatments using ELEMIS and Codage Paris products, and tailored massages and rituals. The SOMA Spa is genuinely worth scheduling in, especially if you're playing back-to-back days, and the indoor treatment pool and range of therapies make it a genuine draw for non-golfers or those looking to recover between rounds.
The KiEPOS Kids and Baby Club keeps younger guests entertained with structured indoor and outdoor activities, and babysitting services are available for parents who want an evening out at the marina or a quiet dinner at one of the resort's restaurants. The combination of family-friendly facilities, proximity to Vilamoura's attractions and direct access to championship golf makes Domes Lake Algarve a strong all-round option for groups with mixed priorities.

Room was nice, dimly lit and relaxing. Bed and bit too soft for us but that's a personal preference. Could have done with a choice of bright light. Front of house staff were 1st class. Buffet restaurant good, Al a carte restaurant a bit dissapointing.

Nice hotel, good food and facilities. Shame it’s so close to the marina which is very tiered and run down and really not worth a visit.
