- 1 Round at Castle Stuart Links
- 1 Round at Nairn Golf Club
1 Night, 2 Rounds
The Golf View Hotel & Spa sits right on the edge of the Moray Firth, with steps down to the shore and cracking views across the water to the Black Isle. It's only about 15 minutes from Inverness, which makes logistics easy, but it still feels properly coastal once you're on site.
The hotel has had a significant refurbishment in recent years and it shows in the feel of the place, from the bedrooms through to the public areas. For golfers, the big win is the location. You're within easy reach of Nairn and Nairn Dunbar, two of the standout links courses in the Highlands, so you can get a proper championship fix without spending your trip in the car. Both are genuine tests, Nairn in particular has a big reputation and has hosted major amateur and professional events over the years, and you can play either in the morning and be back at the hotel for lunch with time to spare.
Off the course, you've got plenty to mix in between rounds, whether that's a run out to Loch Ness, a visit to Culloden or just taking a coastal walk before dinner. And if you're travelling with non-golfers, the leisure facilities and sea-view setting do a lot of the heavy lifting. Finish the day in the AA Rosette Hickory Restaurant, which majors on local produce and seafood, then round it off with a drink while the light drops over the Firth. Include Golf View Hotel & Spa on your next break in the Inverness area.
Who is this for?
Golfers who want an easy base for Nairn and Nairn Dunbar, couples splitting time between links golf and Highland sightseeing, and groups that want decent leisure facilities for proper post-round recovery.
Who is it best for?
Mid and low handicappers chasing a sterner links test nearby, anyone who wants sea views, good food and quick access to Inverness without staying in the city, and mixed groups where not everyone is playing every day.

The hotel has 42 bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms and a clean, contemporary finish. If you can, request a sea-facing room, the views across the Moray Firth are the sort you don't get bored of, especially first thing in the morning or at sunset after a round. Rooms are spacious, well lit and finished to a high standard, with comfortable beds and plenty of space to store golf kit without the room feeling cluttered. It's the kind of detail that sounds small until you're drying waterproofs and trying not to trip over a travel cover.
The leisure facilities are a genuine selling point after 18 holes in Highland weather. There's an indoor pool with sea views, which is a nice touch, plus a gym and jacuzzi so you can loosen up properly before dinner. Outside you'll also find refurbished tennis courts and an outdoor hot tub, ideal for a post-round soak when the evening is clear. It's the kind of setup that works well for groups with mixed interests, golfers and non-golfers alike.
Food-wise, the AA Rosette Hickory Restaurant is the headline act. Expect a strong focus on local seafood landed along the Moray coast and other Highland produce, served in a modern space with big windows looking out over the water. The restaurant was modernised as part of the recent investment and it feels like a destination rather than a hotel dining room you tolerate because it's convenient. The menu changes with the seasons but leans heavily on fresh fish, Scottish beef and game, with a wine list that's well put together. Service is attentive and the atmosphere is relaxed without being too casual, ideal after a long day on the links. If you want something more low-key, there's also a lounge bar for drinks and lighter options.

Too inexperienced staff in the restaurant for dinners. Wine bottles should be opened at tables. Size of bed too small for two persons of 60+

The location is wonderful. The reception staff are friendly and helpful but the restaurant staff are not very attentive and that is such a shame! :-(

On the plus side, fantastic location both in terms of access to golf courses and Inverness airport as well as beautiful views from the garden and restaurant. Great food in the restaurant for all meals. Building is very warm at all times, especially the bedrooms, even without the heating turned on. Twin beds are small and decor is a bit dated. However, great bathroom and shower strength. Had an issue with my bill and 1.5 days after checkout am still waiting for it to be resolved.
