Ranked just outside the Top 50 Golf Courses in Scotland, Nairn Dunbar, is a widely-admired links course, and well worth including on any itinerary for a Scottish Highlands Golf Tour.

The course's location makes it an ideal inclusion on just such a trip too, with the likes of Nairn Golf Club and Castle Stuart just a short drive away, as well as the mighty Royal Dornoch, which is a little over an hour to the north also within relatively easy driving distance.

Countless lesser-known courses which are definitely worth considering should you be working to a budget include the likes of Boat of Garten, Fortrose & Rosemarkie, and Golspie Golf Club, all of which are within a manageable drive of Nairn Dunbar.

Nairn Dunbar Golf Club

The par-72 championship course at Nairn Dunabr is an established tournament venue, having hosted the Northern Open Professional Championship, the Scottish Ladies Amateur Strokeplay and the Scottish Boys Strokeplay in years gone past.

The course may have been founded in 1899, but the facilities are entirely modern, with former Royal & Ancient chief Sir Michael Bonallack OBE having officially opened the new clubhouse in May 1998.

In recent years, the club has also made massive efforts to improve the course and heighten the "links experience" so many golfers head to Scotland to enjoy. A large number of trees and significant areas of gorse have been removed to allow natural grasses to flourish, and a concerted effort has also been made to ensure the playing surfaces are fast and firm, allowing golfers to be creative and play all the shots required to master links golf.
