3 Nights, 2 Rounds
The Lisbon Sports Club is a traditional parkland test designed by Hawtree & Sons in 1964, set in a quiet, green pocket of greater Lisbon. You're around 20 minutes from central Lisbon and handily placed for a day combining golf with Sintra or Cascais, which makes it a smart add-on to a city break.
On the course you'll find a mature, tree-lined 18-hole layout that leans on positioning and course management rather than raw length. Fairways are generally playable, but the best scores come from keeping the ball on the right side of the hole, as bunkering and well-protected greens can turn a slightly off-line approach into a tricky up-and-down. There's enough movement in the terrain to keep it interesting, with gentle elevation changes and a classic members' club feel throughout the round. It's not built to modern championship length standards, but it still asks proper questions, especially when you miss the fairway line and leave yourself a guarded angle in. If it's your first time here, a quick word in the pro shop on green speeds and safe miss areas will genuinely help.
Off the course, the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, with practical facilities and a sociable clubhouse that's ideal for a post-round drink before heading back into Lisbon. If you want authentic club golf close to the city, rather than a polished resort experience, this is a dependable option we'd happily recommend for a Lisbon-based golf day. Fancy building it into a Lisbon long weekend? We can pair Lisbon Sports Club with a second nearby round and the right hotel base so you can spend less time planning and more time playing.

To this day, LSC maintains its links with the British Community that founded the club in 1922. The spirit of a club atmosphere is something we pride ourselves on and strive to maintain and we are very proud of the fact that our doors are always open to those who wish to play golf on one of the oldest courses in Portugal. The club and course is unrivalled in the fact that there has been no real estate development on the course which gives the golfer the unique opportunity of being able to play golf in a natural habitat and in unspoiled, picturesque surroundings.

Loved the old school charm of Lisbon golf club. There was obviously some work going on as the pro shop was a make shift portacabin. The bar was well stocked and staff friendly. The course was a tad confusing to negotiate between tees and buggies were essential and at €40 each very reasonable. Course was in pretty good shape and the greens very undulating which added to the fun.

What a lovely gem of a course. Starts with a very tricky par 3 and then gets really hard. The staff were amazing and because it is established (1861) it feels like a proper golf club. A real challenge for anyone!

A delightful historic club. Clubhouse full of interesting memorabilia. Another beautiful course. Cross-over holes were a problem making for some safety issues. Not really enough room for some holes, which ideally would be shorter. The blind approach to the par 5 16th green is ridiculous and spoils the legitimacy of a round.

Tree lined course with fast greens, good condition and a good test of golf. Second time of playing this course and would play it again.

Beautiful course, fairways have taken a lot of rain but holding up well, greens 1st class.

Very slow round on an old and established course. Everything felt very tired and the fairways had no real consistency to them ranging from mown clover to lush grass. The course is very pretty with some very tight holes. The green were in very good condition. Some of the cart paths were in very poor condition and the practice facilities very basic in a tight bit of land.

Great course but a slower round than expected due to a very slow group in front of us. Not long but a course you had to think your way around. A good course to walk as only a couple of climbs. Clubhouse and staff couldn’t have been more helpful and an excellent meal afterwards.

The buggy paths were a disgrace. One player injured his back hitting a concealed pothole. This was compounded by there being very limited access to drive on the fairways.
