Set on the Luttrellstown Castle estate, this is a genuine slice of Irish heritage just outside Dublin, with the castle adding real wow-factor from the moment you arrive. The estate dates back centuries and the castle setting gives the day a special 'we're not at home' feel, even though you're only 20 minutes from the city.

It's also a top-rated parkland option. Irish Golfer Magazine ranked it 9th for parkland layouts and 35th in Ireland's Top 100, which is why it's regularly tipped as a must-play course around the Dublin area. Since the championship course redesign in 2006, it's picked up serious recognition from golfers who want quality without the trek to the west coast.

The location is a big win for groups. Just 20 minutes from both Dublin City centre and Dublin Airport, Luttrellstown keeps the trip simple, especially if you're squeezing in a quick one or two-night break. That short transfer means you can be teeing off mid-morning after landing, or heading straight into the city for dinner and pints after your round. For societies and corporate groups, it's one less logistical headache to manage.

The championship course itself plays through mature woodland and rolling terrain. You'll catch the castle in the background on plenty of holes, which makes for a memorable setting. The redesign brought modern challenge to the historic grounds, with strategic bunkering, water hazards and elevation changes that test course management as much as ball-striking. You can open your shoulders from the tee in places, but the real scoring comes down to smart iron play and tidy work around the greens. Fairways are generous enough to reward good drives, though accuracy becomes more critical as you move deeper into the round.

Who is this for?
Golf groups who want a quality parkland day without the long coach ride, plus easy access to Dublin for dinner, pints and a bit of craic after the round.

Who is it best for?
Players who enjoy strategic, tree-lined golf and a 'big estate' feel. Great for societies and corporate days, especially if you want a strong course close to Dublin Airport.

Luttrellstown Castle Golf Club

Set on over 560 acres of woodland estate, this course embraces the ancient landscape to present exciting challenges for golfers of all abilities. From the back tees, the course plays at just over 7,300 yards which will test even the big hitters on some of the longer holes, but length isn’t all that will test golfers round this parkland course.

In areas of the course, golfers will be met with some typical links tests; since the redesign in 2006 more deep bunkers and undulating greens feature which adds a new dynamic to the experience, while water comes in to play on no less than 11 holes. The course offers fantastic views over the Liffey Valley, Strawberry Beds as well as the Doric Temple, creating an idyllic setting in which to enjoy a round of golf at one of Ireland’s premium championship courses.

The Clubhouse at Luttrellstown Castle & Country Club maintains the authenticity and history that echoes around the resort. The structure itself is the largest log construction building in the UK, made from quality pine. Within the impressive clubhouse, golfers and guests will be well catered for across the Member’s Lounge, Spike Bar, La More Restaurant and the Millennium Suite.

For golfers looking to practice before or after their round, there is a driving range, chipping and putting greens as well as a 3 hole short course to do so, while also a pro shop fully equipped with the leading brands for all the golfing essentials.
