Fantastic hotel with great facilities

Because we were a party of 8 we had to pre order our food in the restaurants which was not ideal. The quality of the food was excellent but speed of delivery to the table was an issue which detracted from the experience. The management handled our complaint very well which was appreciated.

Absolutely charming staff couldn’t do enough for us . We were offered an upgrade to a junior suite for a reasonable sum . It was very spacious . Of course brits are finding everything expensive outside the UK but the buffet breakfast would get you through to dinner .

Top quality, large bedroom and lovely public spaces. Staff were very attentive and helpful. The location is superb - except when races are happening at nearby Estoril track.

A lovely, luxurious hotel with really wonderful attentive staff. They are a complete joy. It is set amongst woodland and hills and has delightful walks. Food at the Hotel is excellent though both food and drink are expensive.

This was our favorite course and hotel. We will definitely return and stay longer next time. Everything about it being 5 star. The staff were amazing - nothing was to much trouble. I cant rate it highly enough

A large, busy hotel but offering excellent service. Staff in the restaurants and at the main desk were charming and friendly. Our room in Golf wing faced south which was a benefit as there was a very strong northerly wind at times. The room was good, plenty of storage and a bathroom with a simple to operate shower. Several dining options from Italian, tapas, burgers up to Michelin starred restaurants.

Fabulous hotel just 30 mins from Lisbon airport. 5 star attention from staff in a very friendly way. Room was spacious with a lovely bathroom. Great facilities too with several restaurants and bars. Food and drinks were expensive but that was expected given the 5 star rating. I'd definitely stay here again.

Lovely course in good condition with the exception of the tees which were in a very poor state and not up to the standard of the rest of the course.

Again a lovely course.The round was very very slow, so much that our playing partners left after 5 holes. I can’t believe that the two groups in front of us had ever played outside a driving range. ( that’s being kind)

No ranger on the first day. Ranger called on 2nd day and play speeded up

The course was not in as good a condition as I would have expected. Tees were in poor condition, not flat and grass needing cut. Course not as manicured as I remember it from previous visit.

played here 7 years ago and would say ,compared to then,the course is looking tired. greens superb,but the rest quite scruffy. course was not busy and i would think they need to wonder why??

A superb course that we would highly recommend to any visitor. Great quality with the right amount of challenge as well as delightful views. Staff were outstanding and added to the enjoyment of the day.

Good condition and pace Facilities very good

A very good golf course but made extremely difficult with the high winds experienced. However, very enjoyable !

It was absolutely boiling when we played this course which is fantastic. Very scenic with some very long holes which is, of course, in the name. Clubhouse is absolutely stunning and staff very helpful. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent, staff very efficient, polite, facilities great.

Excellent as always, however this year was circa 5 hours plus as too many players / groups on the course.

Great - a good way to prepare yourself for the rounds to come

Loved this one from the moment we arrived. Our group of 12 would happily play this one 2 or 3 times on a trip. Lots of decisions to make off the tee. Clubbing was difficult due to topography, but this adds to the enjoyment. Excellent

The reception at PL wasn’t great - the lady on the desk spent a leisurely 10 minutes discussing/ arranging golf for a member / client knowing we were waiting while 2 other employees were onlooking and could have helped but didn’t, leaving limited time for sorting / preparing to play. PL uses many robot mowers and they were leaving trails of grass clippings on the fairways. Wide of the rough was thick scrub resulting in either lost balls or time spent looking. Also, little care / attention was spent manicuring edges of bunkers which looked untidy and almost caused us to lose balls. Pizza ‘flutes’ lunch were 7/10, albeit good service from the staff in the restaurant.

Spectacular and beautiful course. Fairways a little long. Off course facilities very good.

The championship course was great, fairways and greens in good condition. Definitely recommend this course. Only downside was a pint was €8.50 and a mars bar cost €4, so food and drinks are expensive if you’re planning on eating after your round.

We very much enjoyed playing this cluse. The course was rather wet to start with and we were not told that the buggies could not go on the far way. We spent a lot of time reversing the buggies. As the morning progressed we could go on the course and we very much enjoyed this course.,

Most remembered and amazing from fairways to greens, beautiful

The course had good character and each hole felt like a different challenge. Unfortunately when we played the course was considerably wetter than the others we played in the same area. The noise from the F1 racing track near by was tiresome

Greens were unplayable, coarse should have been closed as it was waterlogged. We were not informed of the state of the course before. We could have saved €124 for the buggy and not played

Unfortunately the course had clearly experienced a long period of wet weather and so areas had not been cut. Muddy wet areas were present in the rough but also on the fairways of most holes. It was very disappointing and did not in our view represent good value for money. The weather on our first day was awful and we were surprised the course was open. The course uses robot grass cutters which left lines of cut wet grass on those fairways they had tried to cut. The staff did their best to help us dry our equipment but the facilities they have got for this is limited.

We'd heard the greens on the course had suffered from dollar spot, so we brought this up at check in. We were told there was no longer an issue and we had to raise it with Your Golf Travel to receive a 15% discount. Buggies 62 euros, even though we could only use them on paths so at times we couldn't get near our balls with the buggy. There had been rain overnight. Course was very wet indeed. Fairways were long with lots of wet grass clippings left. Robot mowers cutting fairways. Greens were still poor after disease. Bare patches around tees. Long grass/rough around bunkers. This was meant to be the highlight of our trip so it was a big letdown. One of our party discussed the poor conditions with the pro shop but no sure how much they'll take on board. Definitely not a top course as they would like you to believe. Didn't try the clubhouse as we'd heard drink and food was overpriced.

The course was in very disappointing condition. Green were infected with a fungal disease with meant they looked and putted dreadful. The fairways had recently been cut and were covered in n grass cuttings. This was supposed to be the highlight of our tour and was a big let down. Such a shame as the course deserves go and layout is stunning

Very enjoyable round of golf with some lovely views and some difficult holes. The tees were poor and the greens were very poor as had suffered a fungus outbreak evidently which made them very bumpy.

Tough course greens not in the best condition.

A brilliant layout and spectacular clubhouse but feel needs a bit of money spent on the course. Greens were in good condition but not as good as Royal Obidos and Praia D'el Rey.

Nice day, the course is good with some really interesting holes but could be in better condition. it looks a little scruffy for the price with the bunkers not well tended and growth around the edges, the greens had quite a few patches but some great views.

Very nice course but I have noticed the condition of the course has in general gone downhill. It is in good condition but nowhere near what it was a few years ago.

Beautifully maintained course with some stunning looking holes. Fairways and greens were in excellent condition. Lovely bar area with good food and drink. Would definitely play here again.

It was the best course that we played and all enjoyed it.

Once again Buggies had not been reserved but the staff moved heaven and earth to get some older buggies out for us and got us going. It was very disappointing to be playing a hybrid course of the 9 hole and the front of the championship. Again this was not made clear by Yourgolftravel and should have been. For and drink are expensive.

Fantastic course. Very pretty - the highlight of the weekend. Some tricky green positions made the putting experience very challenging. Would definitely play it again.

Very wet underfoot but greens were amazingly good in comparison compared to tees and fairways etc. an amazing feet.

Very hilly - definately need golf carts to enjoy it, although still a lot of walking if the carts aren't allowed on the fairways. Some of the holes/views are amazing.

the course was in better condition that it was about 4 or 5 years ago when we thought it had deteriorated badly and we therefore took it off our list. we had good reports from other golfing friends in the last 12 months so we decided to give it another try. The staff were very helpful.

Fabulous course- we played the first 9 in rain and fog- which made it challenging - the resturant after the round is super expensive- otherwise all great

The last two years has seen a decline in the state of this course so much so that we were considering leaving it off our itinerary, but clearly hard work and funding has got it on the road back to being one of the best in this area. Great layout and some very difficult holes.

This was a very challenging course as it has lots of hills. Would definitely recommend a golf cart (we had electric trollies) in hot weather . Quite a lot of the greens were elevated which made it play longer . There was a nice restaurant for lunch afterwards and good changing facilities . Thoroughly enjoyed it and would play it again .

Best course of the week quite hilly may need a buggy.

Very pretty course with fantastic views The layout was great, however the condition of the course was in a poor state. Fairways were not kept well, lots of weeds and grass quality was very different each hole and unkempt. Greens diseased and need attention. Club house very nice and friendly/helpful staff.

This is another fantastically well designed golf course BUT yet again it is suffering from a lack of basic maintenance, such as cutting the grass on the golf course. The fairways resembled the rough. The greens were in poor condition and bobbly and again, the tea boxes were not well maintained. What could be a fantastic golf course it's been let down by the above. That said the clubhouse and facilities were the best on our trip.

They have had an issue with the greens making them patchy & bumpy. A shame because otherwise this is such a beautiful golf course

Great course with some challenging holes. Over a 5 hour round so a bit slow but we spoke to others who played on other days and didn’t see another group. Luck of the draw! Really enjoyed the experience. No halfway house. There was a cart but as always it was hit and miss when you saw it. Suggest take water and snacks with you. We§ didn’t get chance to use the club house so no comment.

Great course with a lot of elevated tee shots in excellent condition. Would not hesitate to go back. Only complaint was they charge 10 euros for a beer.

Best course we played and would always return. Buggies and after golf drinks are noticeably more expensive here so we wouldn’t stay long after playing but still worth a visit.

This is the most beautiful championship golf course. Sadly, however, there had been three weeks of rain and the course was extremely muddy. The staff were very apologetic and cleaned all of our clubs afterwards. The facilities are wonderful but they only seemed to serve a full lunch whereas we would have preferred a bar snack.

6th visit here and in my opinion the fairways are not as good as they used to be (quite a few bare or sanded patches) but it is still a delightful well laid out course. Greens are excellent. To be honest we agreed to play preferred lies which certainly improved the experience on quite a few occasions.

Course was in a very sad state with great swathes of fairways without grass!! Tee boxes were in a similar state. The whole experience was a big disappointment having played the course some years ago. Would not return.

The course and location are excellent - the problem was the number of people playing - 200 on the course and it took 5 1/2 hours to get round - unacceptable and ruined the experience of playing a championship course

Our favourite course which was in lovely condition. Buggies are a must as there are a lot of long and hilly holes. I don’t think there is a straight hole on the course. A Lovely club house with top notch facilities. The staff were excellent as always.

We were a two ball between four balls so bound to be slow . But the course manager did his best to push people along politely . You have to bring your A game to score on this course

This is the second time I have played Penha Longa. Beautiful course with some stunningly visual holes. Very established course.

Each hole on this course is stunning with the varied trees and the rises and falls to the green and fairways. Greens were well maintained, but the bunkers were a disappointment - too much soft sand, almost impossible to get a footing and get your ball out.

OK without being anything special. Buggy is a must unless young and fit.

Beautiful course - very up and down - would have loved a buggy but were all taken 24 hours ahead. Nice if expensive Ritz Carlton facilities. Very helpful starter and team.

An enjoyable day at Penha, all facilities open so refreshments / snacks etc available before and after or round of golf. Tees were a bit shabby and there were a number of bunkers being worked with solid concrete bases and a few of the guys saw balls flying off in various directions !!! No information had been given about these bunkers being GUR and they maybe should have been covered with netting so balls did not disappear into the unknown.

It is a very pretty course with enough challenge to demand everyone’s attention. It is popular, however and therefore quite slow. Buggies are a bonus though £50 each.

Enjoyed the course, some great golf holes

Great golf course, best one of our tour which everyone enjoyed. Great clubhouse, great staff, it is the best of the best in my opinion!

The noise from the near-by Estoril race track can be quite incessant and after 3 days was a bit too much. we were probably unfortunate as it was a long weekend of racing at the track and its not normally that frequent.

Wonderful course. Challenging conditions in the wind. Definitely hire a buggy as hilly and long walks from green to next tee. Definitely one to replay. Michelin starred restaurant so leave time at the end of the round to enjoy.

Unfortunately I have a vertigo issue to overcome and several t s were elevated but despite this a lovely course that I would most definitely like to play again!

We really enjoyed this course. In fabulous condition The staff, bar and restaurant were exceptional

Greens were over-seeded but we were warned before the round and to compensate buggy rates were reduced . We were able to buggy on the fairways which led to a better over-all experience . The course always seems to play long but with memorable holes .

Always a tough course but brilliant to play. Quite hilly in places. Minor criticism would be that the fairways were not up to usual very high standard. This may be due to lack of income during Covid times. Still worth a visit.

In need of T.L.C, frairways a bit scruffy it given the time of year you’ve got to expect that.

Lovely greens and clubhouse and service was great but the fairways were too long they were like being in the rough on a normal course.

Course maintenance is desperately poor. Very wet and soggy fairways, had probably not been mowed for 10 days. Tees in terrible conditions. Greens had fungi attack, and about not playable. Course should be avoided

Once again a return visit to Penha Longa,and another very good day's golf. Excellent layout and in good condition in spite of the work ongoing on the greens.

Very disappointed that we thought buggies had been booked, but none were available, and we had to use electric trolleys, which was far from ideal for two of our party of 8.

Bare lies and scabby greens let down this excellent course and setting

Long course, beautifully located and very hilly. Some fantastic aspects towards coast and hills with views towards the large bridge and statues of Lisbon. Very natural looking course, not as manicured as some of the publicity material but did not affect the play at all and is in keeping with its setting. Extremely smart bar, small pro shop.

Best course of the three we played, saving the best until last. Tough course with some challenging long holes. Greens suffered from a lot of pitch marks and it is a shame they have not been repaired by previous players. Clubhouse is one of the best I have experienced - feels like a club / up market restaurant and bar!

The Championship golf course is enjoyable if you can avoid busy times. The starter was very helpful in getting us away before the large groups. Greens were slow and the bunkers not well presented.Buggies at 55Euros are expensive when compared with local rates.

Good overall

The best course in the Lisbon area. Great setting, in good condition & a fair test for all abilities. A little pricey for trollies/buggies but enjoyed the experience & will revisit one day.

round spoilt by two groups of 4 in front of us who frankly hadn't a clue about playing through etc ( they were French) It took the Marshall to come out around the 13th hole to push them along and they finally let us through on the 15th !!! Only to then get behind the first 4 ball on the 17th. Great course and views from various holes where spectacular.

Great course. Some tees and fairways needed tidying up. Greens were lovely, spectacular views. When the wind blows it gets much harder. Facilities are very good.

meant to be easy to walk but for me it was too much. I had to come off. I would recommend a buggy

Nice track. Massive elevation changes which gave you stunning views over the undulating course. Greens were lovely and smooth but not that fast. Quite challenging in parts where the wind affects it. For me its worth the 55 euros for the buggy although it was cart path only but the longest round was 4hrs fastest just over 3hrs.

This the course was a gem. It was very attractive and good for visitors as plenty of space. Visually great and we took lots of photos- but as a test of golf not so great - the greens were lightening fast and undulating. The clubhouse was very swanky - the service by caddies - cleaning our clubs after the game, setting us up in the buggy very good and appreciated. Practice area was good.

The best of the 5 courses we played. Views and surroundings were amazing. Definitely recommend.

The golf course is brilliant, loved it, every hole had a different challenge, would play it again definitely. The negatives- the electric trolley was dangerous, something a 10 year old would rustle up in a metal work class and very expensive. I played with a couple from Denmark and they stated it would NOT be legal there.The price of water is SOOO expensive 2.50E for a small bottle [infact even a kitkat was 2.50E], I know its a fancy course/ complex but I don't appreciate getting ripped off.

As with Estoril another of our favourites which suffers slow rounds as it is so popular. Another course hewn out of the natural terrain and a good test of ability. We would always choose to play Estoril and Penha Longa despite the slowness as they are such great courses to play.

Only one person on desk to receive parties of people and different nationalities all paying individually. Large queue of parties waiting to pay their golf and get their buggies, practice balls and other accessories, lacking staff on paying desk, all other facilities very good.

Wonderful but challenging course. Very busy day we played so 5 hour round which is too long!

A super course with glamour and top facilities. This was our favourite of three excellent golf courses. A tough up and down course so buggies essential in our view.

Course was in excellent condition and the greens were very good and very receptive. There are some spectacular holes providing challenging second shots to the green. I played off the yellow tees and it's not overly long - par 5s just about reachable in two really good shots. The finish is excellent - 26 being the stand out hole and 17 and 18 played back towards great views of the hotel and tree covered landscape. Really enjoyed it.

We played this 9 hole course on Sunday afternoon and it was quiet (albeit foot golf was scheduled being us which led to a little confusion about which flags were ours). Course in decent condition, less challenging than the Atlantic course but good for a quick 9 holes.

Great experience - staff, facilities and course, we would come back and play this course again.
