Roganstown Golf & Country Club
Denise McLoughlin built Swords Open Golf Course 25 years ago as a pay and play facility on part of the family farm at Roganstown. In 2006, Swords Golf Club was founded and operated out of the Coillte Log Cabin Clubhouse on Balheary Avenue until 2016. It was then re-routed and now operates out of Roganstown.
In 2004 the family engaged Christy O’Connor Jnr. to design the Roganstown Course on the rest of the farm and the Georgian Country House homestead was converted to a 52-bedroom hotel, with function rooms, restaurant, bars, and a state-of-the-art leisure centre. There is also a large car park, perfect for coach parking.
The members bar for Roganstown Golf Club is housed within the hotel complex, offering members food and beverage service from 7 am till late 7 days per week.
The Broadmeadow river flows through the land and water is a feature on many holes. There are rich gravel deposits underground at Roganstown, which means that drainage is spectacular and both courses are playable 365 days of the year. Graham MacDowell has said that the greens were among the best he had played.
Located in Swords, Co. Dublin and just four miles from Dublin airport the courses have hosted the Irish PGA Southern Championship in 2007, 2008 and 2009 and the Irish PGA Championship in 2013 and the Roganstown Course was the first venue in Ireland to host a EuroPro Tour Event in 2006.
