Southerness is one of Scotland's true gems, yet remains undiscovered by many, nestled within the Scottish Lowlands. It may not be in the golfing hotspots of Fife or Ayrshire, but it is one the best around.

Southerness Golf Club

Designed by Mackenzie Ross, who also rescued the golf courses at Turnberry, Southerness is perched beautifully on the edge of the Solway Firth, and boasts perfect links turf. Visitors will often feel isolated in this idyllic golfing destination, with only the views across the Firth to the Cumbrian Lake District in sight.

The superb design, in conjunction with the famously slick greens, has resulted in Southerness being a regular in Golf Monthly's top 100 courses in the UK and Ireland since 1990. The signature hole is the dog-leg par-4 12th, where golfers must approach a green located just a few yards from the beach.

The standard of the golf course is emphasised by its award of many top amateur tournaments and should be high on the list of any keen golfer.
