The North Course at La Manga Club takes a different approach to its South and West siblings. It's a touch shorter off the tips, but that doesn't make it the soft option. What you lose in length, you gain in the need for smart course management and a reliable short game.
The routing weaves through mature palms, skirts natural barrancas (dry gullies that punish anything slightly offline) and brings a handful of lakes into play at just the wrong moment. This isn't one for simply gripping it and ripping it. The fairways reward position over power and the USGA-specification greens have enough subtle movement to make pace control count. Leave yourself above the hole and you'll soon find out.
If you enjoy plotting your way round a course rather than overpowering it, the North will suit you down to the ground. I've always felt it's at its best when you commit to leaving the driver in the bag once or twice. It's also a great middle round if you're playing all three at La Manga, with a different feel to the South's more expansive, American-style routing and the West's tighter, tree-lined corridors.

Real Golf La Manga Club's North Course presents a different test, with tighter fairways and larger greens, all bordered by the resort's famous palm trees. While this course may be for the higher handicapper, it makes up for its lack of challenge, which can be found in La Manga’s other two courses, by priding itself on its beauty, boasting some very attractive holes. It is much hillier than the south and many of the fairways are lined with palm trees, while imaginative greenside bunkering is sustained throughout.
The back nine certainly presents a better set of holes than the front, with the par four 13th leaving you with a tee shot that requires a confident club choice and a 18th hole which is satisfying to say the least. The putting surfaces have recently been reconstructed in accordance with USGA design principles, and many have severe slopes and plateaus, that are tricky to say the least. Accuracy and sound course management are the most valuable traits around the 6,291 yard North, which is a gem that will be particularly enjoyed by the creative shot-makers out there.
Signature Hole – No. 18: Par 5, 340 yards (White Tees)
The 18th is a lovely finishing hole, with the hotel pool in the background reminding you that your post round refreshments are not far away. In fact, only a short walk back to the clubhouse bar.

We ended up playing this coarse 4 times. We didn’t get to play the other two ( on advice from the people booking us in.

Friendly course - play a tad slow but fine - glad to be in a four ball mind you. They are struggling with the greens but thats in hand.

I’m not sure this course should be open. There were a number of temporary green and the greens that were in play were in terrible condition both in terms of roll but also they were like a patchwork quilt with the amount of repair on them. Again there was little notice or care given about this. I would also say as a general comment there was a lack of cart service on the two first days of golf and the cost of the buggies was exorbitant.
