The West Course at La Manga Club offers a unique and challenging experience for golfers. With its narrow fairways and strategically placed gullies, precision is key. This course is designed to test the skills of even the most tactical golfers, with blind spots and frequent changes in elevation. The front 9 holes demand accurate drives, while the back 9 opens up with more hills.
What makes the West Course compelling rather than merely punishing is the variety of the challenge. Holes shift in character constantly, from shorter par 4s where position off the tee matters more than distance, to long par 5s where the terrain demands patience and a clear head. The four par 3s are well spread and each asks something different. The 16th, playing to 189 metres from the whites, is the longest of them and sits on the more exposed upper reaches of the course where the breeze off the surrounding hills can make club selection tricky.

The West course is unquestionably the pride of Real Golf La Manga Club, with an amazing variety of holes. A beautiful course with spectacular scenery everywhere you turn, it provides a demanding test of golf requiring a first-rate game management. Frequent changes in elevation and fast greens, can cause bad shots to be punished severely.
The West Course is also a genuine championship layout, underlining the fact that Real Golf La Manga Club has no weak links. Measuring in at 6,529 yards, the West winds its way gently through the idyllic pine trees, and has more severe slopes than its neighbours. The West is in fact the favourite of many repeat visitors, particularly because of its unique setting and outstanding views. The fairways are tight, so it is often prudent to play conservatively from the tee, while the West also boasts a collection of fabulous par-3s.
The pearl of the front nine is the 9th which has an uphill tee shot, before the hole bends backwards at right angles into a ravine to the front and a lake at the back. The back nine boasts a lovely streak of four closing consecutive holes, including a par three 16th with little margin for error, before ending with a magnificent 18th.
Did you know? The former Formula 1 World Champion, Nigel Mansell, labelled the 18th on the West Course as ‘a great finale’ stating that ‘the magnificent view from the tee is always something to look forward to’.
Signature Hole – No. 18: Par 4, 409 yards (White Tees)
Although the 18th tee is a bit of a walk up a hill, it gives plenty of anticipation for what is a fantastic closing hole. Once at the top you are greeted with a tee shot at the top of a small mountain overlooking a wide fairway-a 200 yard carry and the wind looking to play its part. An intimidating shot. However, what makes this hole truly special is the view for miles distant, the landscape spreading beyond the Real Golf La Manga Club complex, over the countryside and into the sea. This course was the best course on our trip. Greens were rolling really well - good mix of holes and fairways in great condition. Really rated this course.

Not for the faint hearted this one. You need to plot your way around it. Two balls lost which talking to other people was very good. A great test of golf and a must to play. High handicap would struggle around there.They told us the greens had struggled with the weather and in very poor condition but we still all enjoyed it.

Hardest of the 3 courses. Nothing there for before or after round- need to get back to clubhouse on the resort. Course generally in good nick but some tee boxes quite poor. Think it needs a little bit of TLC to get it back up to where it will be really excellent in all aspects.

Very difficult course and it's not as well kept as the North or south, but had some very interesting holes and still a good course to play - the view from the 18th Tee is worth waiting for.

Tough but really fun course up in the trees and hills. Much shorter and lots of ravines and blind shots. The lack of information without a course planner makes it very tricky. Greens were lovely. Tee boxes were awful. Shuttle up to the course worked well. No restaurant/bar wasnt open but that was no problem for us staying at the resort. Very varied amounts of sand in bunkers and facilities/conditioning away from greens and fairways wasn’t great. Lack of toilets (wouldn’t want to be a female golfer here). Difficult course but really fun. Our high handicappers didnt love it.

Again course very bare in places especially the tees and fairways. Buggy paths were just loose stones in places and not proper made up buggy path,difficult to negoatiate in places. Very dissappointed with the quality of this course.

Amazing experience, course was beyond us tbh but absolutely fantastic experience. Course was quiet so we able to take our time and fully immerse ourselves, glad we took the buggy!!
