The Shoreline Hotel sits right on the beach in Donabate, County Dublin, with clear views across Dublin Bay to Lambay Island. It's a smart base for a Dublin links break, giving you quick access to Royal Dublin, Corballis and Portmarnock without the long cross-city transfers that can eat into tee time days. You're around half an hour from Dublin city centre in normal traffic, so you can play top links by day and still dip into town if you fancy it. The location is the draw here. You get a quiet shoreline setting when you're done and plenty of options close by if the group wants to keep the evening going.

The hotel itself is compact and well-kept, with 35 en-suite rooms and a relaxed coastal feel that suits golfers looking to unwind after a day on the links. Dining takes place in the spacious Brasserie, where floor-to-ceiling windows frame the same bay views you'll wake up to. The kitchen runs daily specials Sunday through Friday, a seaside afternoon tea service from midday to 4pm, and weekend brunch on Saturdays and Sundays between noon and 4:30pm. It's exactly what you want after 18 at Portmarnock, a quick rinse, a good feed and an early night without needing another taxi run into town.

Who is this for?
Golfers building a Dublin links itinerary who want sea views, straightforward comfort and easy access to the big-name courses without staying in the city centre.

Who is it best for?
Small groups and couples playing Royal Dublin, Portmarnock and Corballis over a long weekend, especially if you want a quieter base with dinner on site and the beach on the doorstep.

Accommodation at Shoreline Hotel

The Shoreline Hotel has 35 en-suite rooms, making it a manageable, easy-to-navigate base for a golf break. More than half look out over Dublin Bay towards Lambay Island, which is well worth requesting if you're travelling as a couple or you simply want that sea-view wake-up call before an early tee time.

Room categories are straightforward. The refurbished Superior Rooms offer a choice of double or twin-style setups, a good option for pairs who want a little extra comfort after long days on the links. These rooms suit couples or solo travellers looking for a bit more space and a refined coastal aesthetic. Standard Rooms are more flexible for friends travelling together and work well for small groups looking for value without compromising on a good night's sleep. They provide generous floor space, with enough room to spread out after a long day on the course.

For ground-floor access, the Garden Rooms open out onto terrace areas where the sound of the waves provides a natural soundtrack. You may trade the full sea panorama, but you gain an easy in and out, which plenty of golfers appreciate when you're juggling shoes, waterproofs and the day's kit. While these rooms don't offer direct sea views, they remain popular with golfers who value outdoor access and a quieter aspect away from the main building.

All rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, modern amenities and comfortable bedding. The focus here is on delivering a clean, well-appointed base rather than chasing five-star luxury. For golfers, that means practical storage for clubs and kit, reliable hot water after early starts, and a setting that encourages rest between rounds. It's a no-fuss, sleep-well base between rounds that gets the fundamentals right.

The Brasserie serves as the hotel's main dining space, with panoramic windows that frame the same bay views found in the best rooms upstairs. The kitchen runs a straightforward menu built around daily specials, available Sunday through Friday, with an emphasis on fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Weekend brunch service runs from noon to 4:30pm on Saturdays and Sundays, offering a relaxed post-round option for golfers returning from morning tee times at nearby courses. The hotel also offers a seaside afternoon tea, served daily between midday and 4pm, a civilised way to break up the day if you're not playing 36 holes.

The Brasserie's layout suits both intimate dinners and larger group bookings, with tables positioned to take advantage of the natural light and coastal outlook. Service is attentive without being formal, and the atmosphere leans towards relaxed coastal dining rather than fine-dining formality. For golfers, it's a convenient, quality option that removes the need to drive into Dublin for dinner, particularly after a long day tackling Portmarnock or Royal Dublin.

Beyond the dining room, the hotel keeps things simple. There's no spa or leisure centre, but the beachfront location provides its own form of recovery, with coastal walks available right from the property. The focus remains firmly on delivering a comfortable, well-located base for golfers who want to maximise time on Ireland's best courses without sacrificing comfort or coastal character.

Fantastic hotel for a golfing break near Dublin. Good food, friendly service, pleasant room, right on the beach. Be sure to check out Corballis Links nearby as an 'add-on' course, not to be missed for the green fee! Would 100% go back.
