The Island Golf Club boasts one of the most spectacular golf courses in Ireland and the Dublin area. The links course hugs the estuary and winds its way through land strewn with the most towering collection of sand dunes in the area.

The course has enjoyed a rich tournament pedigree having hosted the very best in both amateur and professional golf. In more recent times, The Island Golf Club hosted The 2019 Amateur Championship and also regional qualifying for The Open Championship between 2013 - 2017.

As one of The Top 100 Golf Courses in The UK and Ireland, The Island Golf Club has a rich history that dates back to 1890 since being originally established by a group of 10 known as The Syndicate. Having run the club successfully until 1950, The Island has grown to become one of the most desired golf courses in Dublin and provides a superb links challenge for all who play it. With easy access to the city centre of Dublin as well as other top-rated golf courses Royal Dublin and Portmarnock Golf Club, a golf tour here is amongst one of the finest anywhere in the world.

The Island Golf Club

The land has dictated the layout of the course, with the rugged sandhills forming the backdrop for most of the holes. As you may imagine, length is not the most important factor at the Island, as golfers must negotiate skillfully through the great humps and hollows.

It is possible to be aggressive, as Darren Clarke showed on his way to a course record round of 63 in the 1999 Smurfit Irish PGA Championship, but if you stray off line, the deep rough that covers the dunes is extremely punishing.

With views back across the estuary to the quaint village of Malahide, this rugged links is truly beautiful, and is marked indelibly as a favourite by all those who visit, especially connoisseurs of links golf.

The Island Golf Club is ranked as one of the best courses in Ireland
