Tasmania is home to a selection of incredible golf courses, making the trip becoming increasingly enticing, primarily thanks to the remarkable seaside course at Barnbougle Dunes. The coastline to the north of Launceston is a wild and unkempt landscape, whose towering dunes are setting the stage for Barnbougle's astonishing links.

Tom Doak, the man presented with the remarkable landscapes at Kauri Cliffs and Kidnappers Cave, teamed up with Michael Clayton to formulate a layout that would be worthy of the amazing dunes.

Some of the sandhills can reach a staggering 100 feet tall, offering up a superb canvas for a seaside course. Little has been changed at Barnbougle, as the landscape is bursting with character as it is, but there is no doubt that the links land is home to a golf course of astounding quality.

This is a must play course. Enviable location. We hired basic clubs( Wilson) and upgraded my wife’s trolley to one of the few available electric ones. This was greatly appreciated as it is an undulating links course. Wallaby’s on the 1st hole feeding at 9.30 am! Tees are appropriate to your handicap. We were lucky as there was little wind and the main challenge was the difficult greens which were in perfect condition. Playing as a couple at a steady pace it took 4 hours to get round. Wished we could have played Lost Farm!
