Beyond the championship golf, guests can indulge in first-class leisure facilities, including The Spa, a tranquil space offering a complete range of professional treatments, and The Edge, a fully equipped fitness centre featuring a state-of-the-art gym, a heated indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room, and courts for squash and tennis. Barnham Broom is home to two superb 18-hole courses and in summer guests can take on the 36-hole golf experience, which ranks top among Norfolk's best golfing destinations.
The resort boasts the contrasting Pennink Course, a picturesque and strategic par-72 layout that meanders along the River Yare, featuring water hazards and tree-lined fairways, challenging your precision. The Steel Course is slightly more open, a par-71 parkland course that provides elevated greens, panoramic views, and a different kind of challenge, often considered slightly more forgiving than the Valley Course.
There is also a dedicated short game area, a grass driving range and a five-acre open air grass range. In Summer, the courses are marshalled, and there is even a refreshment buggy on hand with drinks and snacks to make your round even more enjoyable.
The Pennink is Barnham Broom’s flagship championship course recognised as the premium Norfolk golf experience, with a notable hole being the demanding 416-yard par-4 3rd, where the River Yare cuts diagonally across the fairway, forcing a critical tee shot and approach.
Opened in 1977 and masterfully designed by renowned architect Frank Pennink, the Par-72 layout measures approximately 6,483 yards from the back tees. The layout is set along the flowing waters of the River Yare, the course is defined by its picturesque, strategic challenge. The design makes ample use of natural contours, tree-lined fairways, undulating greens, and numerous water features, demanding precision and strategic thinking over raw power.

The Steel Course is characterised by its wide, more open fairways and elevated positions, which provide sweeping views over the Norfolk countryside, the 18 hole course is also playable throughout the winter months. Its elevated nature and rolling terrain make for a true parkland or heathland experience, appealing to a wide range of players.
While often considered slightly more forgiving than its sister course, it is by no means easy, with its links-style influences, including windy conditions and strategically placed bunkers. A notable hole is the Par-5 5th, which starts from an elevated tee, providing an excellent scoring opportunity if players successfully navigate the strategic challenges placed mid-fairway.
Originally designed by Frank Pennink and later revised by renowned golf architect Donald Steel, this Par-71 course measures approximately 6,495 yards from the back tees.

The rooms were comfortable and close to the centre of the golfing complex. The only thing my room didn't have was a complimentary bottle of water. Something that's needed when it's cold outside and the windows are closed and the heating on - especially overnight.

The hotel is in the beautiful Norfolk countryside and has clean and comfortable rooms, an excellent sports club and bar (4 squash courts, tennis courts, gym, leisure pool, sauna, steam room) a sports bar overlooking the Valley course, as well as a nice a la carte Brasserie restaurant and conference rooms for eg a works do or society/charity days, but with its Espa Wellness Centre also caters for treatments and massages after a hard day in the gym or on the golf course for those on a weekend break. The staff are all very friendly and are a nice mix of youngsters learning their trade and the more mature experienced staff who, one felt, had been with the hotel a while.

A better day two even though the wind turned into a gale. This course is ar the top of a valley andin most places fairly flat. Laid out well with many interesting holes. Some bunkers needed repairing. No halfway facilities on either courses. Needed on the hill as it's a fare distance from the clubhouse.

Didn't play well on our first day. The course was fair. Nothing tricky but the wind was blowing.g so this does the course some teeth.

Some of our party didn’t enjoy this course especially the condition of the fairways and slow greens. The fairways didn’t bother me (it’s been so dry recently) and I found the challenge of negotiating the heavily bunkered entrances to greens more than enough for me!
