Boavista Golf & Spa Resort

quiet area, good security feeling safe, two clean toilets well stocked with towels etc. good clean kitchen facilities. the staff could not be more friendly and helpful, shuttle bus was great. living areas were spacious and clean. please take note we will be booking again for next year.

Accommodation very good abeit a little remote

The accommodation itself was everything you’d need and more than you’d expect. The on site restaurant however was nothing to get your hopes up about. That being said the location was 5 minutes from old town where you’re spoilt for choice.

We booked 3 nights 2 rounds of golf but ended up playing 4 rounds. The place is fantastic and the staff can’t do enough to help and make your stay perfect, the course itself is brilliant and is in immaculate condition. All I would say is the complex is massive and involves a bit of walking.

The Apartment was very Spacious had everything we needed. Cleaned every day. Staff Wonderful.

The site is so vast, you really need a car to get around. The staff say they will collect you whenever you need but rarely turn up on time (if at all). I’d imagine if you were staying for longer and/or had a car, it wouldn’t be an issue. The accommodation itself was nice and fitted our requirements well

Accomodation in Bela Colina part of boavista was spacious and had fully kitted kitchen, one living area and bedroom with en-suite on first floor and bedroom, bathroom and kitchen on ground floor with balcony and patio - fabulous gardens super pool very close along with a bistro that served food all day with a super breakfast buffet. Bar restaurant at the clubhouse was great with friendly staff and with both Lagos and Praia da Luz only a 10 minute taxi with lots of great bars and restaurants we were spoiled for choice in the evenings

Excellent accommodation

I cannot imagine anything better than the immaculate, modern, spacious and superbly equipped townhouses for up to four people. All air conditioned to your chosen temp.

Apartments are nice and cleaned daily. The food in the restaurant was reasonably good. Nice sized swimming pool with plenty of room. The town of Lagos is really nice with lots of bars and restaurants. Only 5 minutes away in an Uber

We booked unlimited golf but boavista said that was not the case and wouldn't book an extra round despite me sending them your booking email

We stayed in a two bedroom 2 storey house with great views from the balconies it was extremely well equipped everything you need for self catering experience. Added bonus is the house was serviced each day of our stay. The outdoor pool looked fantastic if it was a bit later in the season. There was a bistro down the road but would suggest going into Lagos or Praia da Luz for restaurants etc

Really good resort, the staff from the reception to bar to starters are so helpful and friendly.

We stayed in one of the townhouses in the bella colina village and they are well appointed and excellent size. The pool area all looks lovely. The resort is slightly stuck out on its own and is not a viable walk into Lagos. The bars and restaurants are pretty dead and soul less. The golf course is in pretty poor condition unfortunately. Overplayed and greens very bad condition - possibly due to the dry summer but not helped by lack of pitch mark repairs!!

The accommodation was very good - 2-bed villa with separate rooms & baths. Well appointed kitchen as well, but there was little time or inclination to cook. One thing you should tell everyone who books is to come prepared with 1 Euro coins -- every locker, towel hire etc requires these.

Great location, very clean.

There had been alot of work done recently, but overall the course at Boavista was in good condition. I really enjoyed the two holes where you need to cross the valley...very dramatic! I would definitely recommend booking a buggy.

It was obviously a very difficult time for all golf courses due to the typhoon that hit pre Christmas and the amount of rain that has hit but we found the course to be in excellent condition in spite of the above issues:

We’d played here before so knew that it was a good choice. Well positioned, with some interesting holes, good facilities and friendly staff. In good condition and would recommend - we walked, which was fine, but there are a few tees that are a bit of a stroll from the previous green. Good value for money.

Massive storm at arrival at resort but course was dry to play next day. They have a wild boar problem but did not spoil our enjoyment. Helpful and friendly staff on/off course, the buggies are fantastic with great practice areas.

Played before, it is a good (but not exceptional) course with some memorable holes. We all enjoyed it, the only downside was an over zealous somewhat aggressive marshall. One of our groups felt ‘persecuted’.

Some staff were a bit officious abrupt and rude

It surprised me as I haven't been back in about 8 years but the course conditions has improved and everyone in the group would diffently go back there

Good course for mid handicappers- 5 hour round with buggies so pretty slow

Course poor condition lots of damage due to wild boars. 51/2 hour round on one occasion which is not acceptable. Will not be returning

First time playing and would go back. Group of 8 with handicaps 5-20, a fair challenge for all. Course was in general good condition, a few bare patches but noting to worry about. Some challenging par 3s at 200 yards. Well worth playing.

Played here after a visit last year and enjoyed a good round, the course gets better and better into the back 9. Driving range was closed so marked down on that basis

The Bonavista resort was our least favorite. The driving range was horrible. The facilities were so so and the golf course was average. I would not include this on my itinerary at all. I wish I would’ve been given more of a choice to choose, which causes the fight since there are so many courses in the area. The greens on this course were very tough part. I don’t know why, but I would not return here.

Good course with a few challenging holes. Fairways good and soft allowing good pick ups with iron play. Greens soft and receptive and allowed a good roll with true reads to the holes.

Very long holes, so for someone that doesn’t hit very far it’s a hard course to play.

Very poor bunkers they are in a shocking condition. The course is looking very tired and is not in its normal condition.

The course offers a wide variety of holes suited for a lower handicapped player. The ratings reflect my performance here :’( Enjoyable but challenging. Steep undulated greens that ran very quickly.

My Dad and I really enjoyed our day at Boavista. The course was good and not too difficult. It was well set up for holiday golf with drinks available on the way round. Buggy’s very good and had GPS. The bunkers weren’t great and the tees were very sandy but other than that no complaints.

The first time you play the course can be a challenge because there is a lot of blind shots, on one hole I pulled my driver and thought my ball was dead but ended up been in the perfect spot. The course is very interesting and in perfect condition, there’s not one flat green and they are very fast so very challenging.

Course was good except for the bunkers. They were very poor. But in general, a very nice and tough course

Fantastic course, absolutely fantastic. Great condition, a bit forgiving but still needed to be played. Lots of variety of holes made it ultra interesting. Golf shop and staff around the course were really helpful. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Needs a bit of manicuring!

Boa Vista is a lovely course. Clearly still feeling the effects of a recent storm, the course was not in the best condition but its very playable and enjoyable.

The course is a good walk. So would walk one day and take a buggy the Next day. The 6th is a Great hole. Unfortunately On this visit, there was a fair bit of rain around however still enjoyed the course once again again.

Great course but the heavy rain and strong winds made our game difficult. I'd love to play it in better weather.

The bunkers were terrible. Absolutely no sand, like playing off concrete. Quite an interesting course otherwise.

The course stretches out into to the distance through avenues of villas. The holes are varied and interesting and the two involving carries over severe ravines were particularly challenging for the two ladies in our party. The course was in pretty good condition but there was some course grass growth on some of the greens.

Boavista is a fun course - shortish of yellows but challenging off whites. Overall condition very good (a few areas not generally in the playing area were brown but fairways and greens in super condition. Property around the course far enough away to not interfere (other than right of the first which did come into play for the slicers....) Really fun golf!

Enjoyed it, I have played before and it did not disappoint me

Not allowing any kind of wood (7w) on the range irked one of our group. Course is great and plays a LOT longer than the indicated yardages, often a club or two more. Lovely course - particularly the back 9 holes that just seemed to get better and better

Thoroughly enjoyed this course. We played with 2 local members, which was beneficial due to a few blind holes. Staff and everyone around were top notch.

A nice playable course you can score well on. Some really fabulous holes. Rock hard bunkers were the only area of complaint.

Great course, some fantastic holes, the setting and layout was excellent, buggies are needed - trying to take just trolleys/carry could be tough due to layout and long walks between tee boxes.

Great round will go again

First time playing this course and loved it. Testing but not soul destroying. We had plenty of balls with us. The clubhouse was lovely and the food we had for a late lunch was great and the staff excellent. If time had allowed we would have played there again - next time!

Well set up course, greens were in excellent condition. Good mixture of holes, probably the easier of the three courses we played and a great course to start the trip off with. Staff and set us were excellent. Some issues with buggies coming up the back 9 only thing I would note as an issue.

This course is a long trek without a buggie. Hills, dales and a few ravines thrown in but memorable holes to satisfy anyone. Plenty of space for the less accurate golfer too.

Unfortunately we had some showers it rained heavily after about 15 holes so we came in. However this is not the fault of the course and we enjoyed the holes which we played. Spectacular views.

Beautiful setting and less busy as the Pestana courses.

Far too busy and too slow, made worse by the par3 6th hole. Fun to play, yes, but causes big back ups which don’t seem to recover. Our late tee time meant we were chasing the clock to get back before it was dark (7pm).

being a 26 handicap it was challenging for me but i did enjoy it.

Very nice course without any hold ups

Have to admit, overall we were a little disappointed. The greens were average/poor and the bunkers were like gravel traps, you’ll risk ruining your clubs hitting out of there! The facilities were good, most of the staff were friendly and helpful.

Played 2 rounds. Speed of the first round was about right but the second was very slow. Challenging course off the whites. Course was in good condition and greens were fine. Not the most amazing course but definitely not the worst. Would happily play there again. Driving range is not the greatest and only a tiny putting green near the first hole. Clubhouse was good

Boavista was a very nice, challenging course. Some lovely signature holes, paired with very nice greens. The welcome at the club house was typical of the area, with a nice relaxed informal atmosphere. Good food and reasonably priced beers.

In good condition and good facilities. Course was a bit busier than the other 2 we played but didn't really get held up.

We didn't play here the last two visits as the course was terrible, very poor greens totally the opposite this time fabulous greens and fairways very enjoyable so much so almost eagles index 1 and parred index 2 so overall very nice.

Typical Algarve set up play a bad shot and get punished, overall very good.

We were a mixed party of 4 two young low single figure handicappers and their parents . The course was a fair challenge for all of us. There is significant elevation involved and would recommend electric trolleys. There are some spectacular carries on a couple of the holes over the ravine. Overall a very enjoyable holiday course.

This was our second year coming back so know the course better, it is always well presented and a bit wider than others making it very playable but not easy by any means

This was the most disappointing course we have played in a while. The layout was decent but the condition of the course and in particular the greens was very poor indeed. Also speed of play was appalling. We had a rubbish 4 ball in front who were having a lesson - never let us through and to cap it all the muppet of a pro was playing shots too so effectively a 5 ball! It is a pretty short course and one to avoid until they sort out greens and increase gaps between tee times.

Enjoyed the course but advised to take trolleys when due to terrain we should have been advised to take carts! Fortunately all 4 players were fit and healthy and so no real problem but we were misled by golf staff!

Boa vista was the only course I liked. It was in good condition, well kept and well watered. The grass was green and everything was acceptable and worth the cost.

Tees and greens in good condition. Fairways reasonable considering the long very hot weather. Club house facilities very good. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

A good test if not straight shame about the houses lining some fairways Hard walking

A modern design course with large greens and wide fairways with a couple of feature holes. It is undulating so a lot of uneven lies. Greens were quick but quite grainy so the ball didn't always stay on line. We were a group of 6 with 2 tee times of 3, but they joined a 2 ball up with us so played as a 4 & 2 which we didn't want, so disappointing.

Lovely course, lovely views very nice setting and I had a hole in one on the 11th which obviously is a very difficult par 3.😁

Not the courses fault, but greens were slow and needed a cut due to a recent caterpillar infestation. Apart from that course was very good.

Course was closed for 2 hrs due to low cloud so when open it was a very slow start and slow play for 9 holes but what a great course need to return

The worst bunkers we've seen in seven years of playing Portuguese courses. Very hard - like playing off a gravel path! Uniquely in our experience, we had to sign a damage responsibility form for the buggies with financial penalties threatened. It was like hiring a a car from 'Gold'. After our round the terrace was full of members enjoying an after-tournament drink etc. Plenty of spare tables - but all the chairs were moved to one end. Staff refused to let us move the indoor chairs outside so we had to sit inside... Hmm. We offered feedback on the bunkers to be told "no-one's complained before". The complacent trader's stock response. Unwelcoming and ropey. NOT recommended.

A good course which provides a fair test for all abilities. Greens need to be improved but played ok.

I would expect the greens and general condition of the course to be less than 100% given that it was the low season but it was poorer than I expected with a lot of burned areas on the course and the greens showed signs of heavy wear and tear over the winter and spring

Good course for all handicaps.

Ridiculous slow 5 hours for a round out behind a residents competition will not be back here. Our tee time had been changed only by 10 minutes later, we walk all courses with pull trolley these were the dearest.

Good challenging course. Got behind club comp on Saturday morning so a slow round. Otherwise OK. Had to rent buggies each round. Greens very hard & fast; sand in traps also hard & compact.

Unbelievably had the place to ourselves. Great golf course with great service.

Fun course, lots of blind drives so good to play it a few times, better off the white tees, some long carries for the shorter hitters! I would certainly play it again.

Good course with friendly staff

We had previously played this course on four occasions. It is a pleasant course in good condition. We thoroughly enjoyed playing it again 6 times on this visit. Rounds took on average 4.5 hours. The buggies have been renewed with top of the range buggies with sat nav in them. The clubhouse and pro shop are really good and the pavilion is a lovely sunny spot to sit and eat/ drink. We stayed in an apRtment on the complex which we really enjoyed due to the facilities and also location.

Nice course, greens was not as good as the previous courses played.

A lovely course and great facilities with plenty of challenging holes. It was much more of what you would expect for a golfing trip abroad. Plenty of great views and lots to talk about post round.

Very well kept and enjoyable course. Some memorable holes ,particularly par 3's . Buggy recommended due to some stiff climbs. Lives up to its name with beautiful views all round. Best buggies with GPS . Recommended.
