    • 1 Round at Chateaux Course
    • 1 Round at Vignes Course

Cabot Bordeaux Resort is one of the standout golf bases in France, set right in the heart of the Médoc and surrounded by the vineyards that make Bordeaux's wine country so famous. You're only about 30 minutes from the centre of Bordeaux, with the Atlantic coast close enough for an easy day trip, so it works brilliantly for long weekends and golf groups who want proper golf plus a bit of life off the course.

On-site you've got two championship layouts, Châteaux and Vignes, alongside the 4-star MGallery by Sofitel hotel. If you're choosing just one round, most golfers will tell you Châteaux is the headline act. It has hosted the French Open and is widely regarded as one of the best tests in the country, asking for smart positioning rather than just bashing driver all day. Vignes is a brilliant companion course, different in rhythm but equally enjoyable, and together they make Cabot Bordeaux one of the best golf resorts in France.

Since Cabot took over, the resort has also joined a global stable of high-end golf destinations, which should be good news if you like your golf trips slick, well looked after and built around quality courses. If you're planning a golf break that mixes tee times with tastings, Cabot Bordeaux is a very easy yes.

Who is this for?
Golfers seeking a premium resort experience that pairs championship golf with wine-country culture, spa facilities and refined dining. Ideal for couples, groups and societies who want variety in their golf and easy access to Bordeaux's vineyards and coastline.

Who is it best for?
Mid-to-low handicappers who relish a proper championship test on the Châteaux, and anyone looking to combine serious golf with relaxation, wine tours and high-quality accommodation in one of France's most scenic regions.

Golf Courses at Cabot Bordeaux

Chateaux Course

The Chateaux Course is a demanding par-71 stretch, which, when played from the championship markers, reaches 6,907 yards. American designer Bill Coore took much of his influence from the UK and Ireland's links courses, and as such the fairways at the Chateaux are lined with gorse, heather and broom. The stunning course is often affected by the stern Atlantic breezes, making it a formidable proposition, but one that will certainly be enjoyable.

The Chateaux was voted Best Course in France in 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018 by the World Golf Awards. In addition the site has been ranked 8th Best Golf Resort in Europe.

The Chateaux Course at Medoc is ranked as one of the best courses in France

Vignes Course

The 6,802 yard Vignes is Cabot Bordeaux's second course, but it is certainly not inferior. Designed by Canadian Rod Whitman, the Vignes is distinctly different in character than the Chateaux, as it carves through the towering pines, with more of a parkland accent. The par-5s are particularly challenging, and Whitman's most notable legacy is his strategic placement of telling bunkers, which will only be safely negotiated by the most prudent player.

If you're game's not up to scratch, the golf complex has a range with 16 covered bays and up to 40 uncovered grass bays that are the perfect place to pound some balls.

Accommodation at Cabot Bordeaux

The on-site 4-star MGallery by Sofitel hotel, which opened in 2007, makes Cabot Bordeaux an easy, self-contained golf base. The style is modern and understated, with natural tones rather than anything too fussy, and there are 79 spacious rooms in total. In-room you can expect the essentials golfers actually care about after 18 holes, including Wi-Fi, a safe and a comfortable set-up for switching off before the next day's tee time.

If you're travelling as a couple or a small group, the big win here is the downtime. There's an indoor pool, but the spa is the real draw, with sauna and steam rooms, plus treatments including massage and reflexology. It's exactly what you want if you've walked 36 in two days and still want to be functional for dinner.

Food and drink are straightforward to plan. Le Table du Médoc is the main restaurant and leans into the region's strengths with a wine list that showcases local Médoc bottles. The dining room has views over both courses, and the menu is elegant and seasonal without being overly formal. For something more relaxed, the Clubhouse is ideal for an easy lunch or a post-round drink looking out over the course. Back at the hotel, the Salon Bar Bibliothèque is a comfortable meeting spot for groups who want a quiet nightcap or to sort the next day's plan.

The rooms are generously sized and designed for comfort, with clean lines, warm wood tones, quality linens and plenty of natural light. Every room comes with satellite television, an en-suite bathroom and the sort of modern amenities you'd expect from a 4-star property. The hotel sits within easy reach of the estate grounds and both golf courses, so you're never far from the action.

And, of course, you're in the right part of the world for adding a little extra to the itinerary. Bordeaux and the surrounding châteaux are close enough for tastings and tours, and the coast is an easy add-on if you fancy seafood and sea air between rounds. Whether you're here purely for the golf or mixing rounds with wine and culture, the accommodation and location make it easy to build the trip you want.

Well designed Hotel Beautifully presented Excellent staff.Very helpful.Food and choice of food good,BUT dogs allowed in the restaurant both for dinner and breakfast. Not Acceptable. One diner left her dog at the table whist she wandered off to select her choice from the excellent buffet breakfast. Needless to say the dog started sniffing around our table for food The course was in great shape. The greens quite tricky. Wide fairways, quite forgiving. Buggies a bit expensive at 40 Euros

Great hotel. Excellent facilities. Varied buffet breafast and tasty lunch and dinner. Very helpful staff. Somewhat isolated and taxis required to go anywhere, but not unexpected when between two golf courses and the overall experience more than outweighed any inconvenience.

The Chateau course is a great test of golf and also in very good condition.

Easier than the Chateaux course but still challenging enough. Some quite short par 3 holes but still difficult as the greens are undulating.
