Rather than imposing his ideas on the site, Clarke allowed the character of the local terrain to dictatespawning holes of amazing beauty and great challenge. County Sligo is blessed with many great championship links courses, but Clarke has sought to redress the high quality parkland layouts with Castle Dargan.
Built in accordance with USGA construction principles, the course is maintained in first class condition by an army of ground staff, and is playable for golfers of all standards. From the championship markers, Castle Dargan is around 6,800 yards, which is quite short for a modern build, but there it has enough teeth to challenge even the best.

Really good hotel, friendly staff. Bar and restaurant staff a little inexperienced and could do with some leadership and training. Service was slow with staff needing reminders as they got distracted quite easily but this wouldn't stop me staying again.

Course was waterlogged in a few areas ... dont think carts should have been permitted on the course as it was cutting up quite badly. Rounds were slow due to balls being continually plugged.

The course is brilliant. Great layout, testing par 4's and reachable par 5's. Beautiful scenery and the golf team are very friendly and helpful.

Good course, nice variety of holes. Greens were still recovering from pole fork and sanding but you could tell that if playing in the height of summer with the greens at their best it could be a really good experience and challenging course.
