Underwhelming experience. The group was disappointed with the food. The bed was not comfortable.

Excellent location and venue for a few days and lovely course

All the staff were helpful and cheerful. As a group we enjoyed the food and variety of choices. There was a lack of choice of beer in the main bar but was not a major issue. The room was excellent. Very spacious and great view from the Balcony.

The small golf society I run thoroughly enjoyed their 2 day stay at Dale Hill. The facilities were excellent. The food and service were also excellent. Golf was also very good with courses both in good condition and we fortunately were lucky with the weather, with the forecast of stormy weather, keeping well away. Will come again!

Group of 8 ladies,the hotel stay was excellent Rooms were very good, considering it was hottest weekend of the year the fan was a great addition,the only thing missing which would have been nice to have was a fridge, food choice was good and good portion size also very nicely presented both in the Orangery and Restaurant.All the staff were very helpful nothing was too much trouble.They also had a room to store clubs.Cant fault it would visit again.

Dale Hill was a lovely hotel and country club. One of my favourites that i’ve been to overall as not only were the golf courses good to play but the food was exceptional for the overall price we paid for the package. We stayed two nights and played three rounds. To top it off the weather was perfect, glorious in fact even though it was only April. Would happily go back to Dale Hill in particular for the food. The dinner was excellent on both nights, which incidentally had different menus, both with very good choices.

great value, lovely stay

This is the fourth year in succession our Group has stayed at Dale Hill. A huge improvement on 2023 especially on the efficiency and friendliness of Reception and Food and Beverage staff. The Pro-Shop was as we found in 2023 excellent. They managed to mitigate the effects of the appalling weather we had on the Sunday which saw the closure of our booked “Old Course” and we were transferred to the Woosnam.

The staff were very helpful and we enjoyed our stay. The room was very comfortable and convenient being in the main part of the hotel. the orangery could be a bit noisy with male golfing groups but the service was good and the restaurant excellent.

Would recommend. everything is there what you need For a golf break, breakfast and evening meal package was good value

Rooms were very comfortable and clean

I was upgraded to a lovely suite, much appreciated. Very comfortable. The staff were all friendly, courteous and willing to help. Some people in the group had issues with cold rooms and cold water in the showers but were generally very happy with the accommodation. There was plenty of space for our group to spread out in the bar and making a bit of noise was not an issue. Pre ordering meals and creating a seating plan was efficient and mixed up the group from who they normally sit with - generally taken very positively. Exceptions to the menu, particularly for a couple of fussy eaters was accommodated without a problem. Once at the hotel, communicating with reception, bar and restaurant staff over logistics worked very well. A couple of the places in the hotel could have been a bit cleaner and potentially need refreshing in a year or so. A great few days that worked seamlessly. Many thanks

Hotel is in a lovely part of the country with stunning elevated views of the courses and the surrounding area. It has everything one needs for a comfortable stay. We were made to feel very welcome and well looked after.

Excellent service throughout from happy staff

Staff were very helpful and polite. Room was tired, not as clean as it could be. Needed decorating. Shower leaked on floor. Highlight was the food which was very good.

As a large package group (32) the overall comments about the hotel and its facilities were very complimentary. Our set menu evening meal exceeded expectations and breakfast was more than adequate. The staff were very polite and helpful and made our stay a pleasure. Many said that they would return in the future.

Check in and out process was easy. The rooms were clean spacious and comfortable. The food quality was outstanding, good restaurant quality. The bar was nice particularly the balcony overlooking the 18th green.

Excellent reception on arrival, very good quality room with all the amenities you would expect from this highly rated hotel. The restaurant provided first class food and service, the staff very friendly and competent. Would be very happy to return.

Staff were excellent, very helpful. The room was a bit tired, one of the light switches did not work, and two main light bulbs needed replacing. A couple of times only one of the two main bars were open, but assume that was due to lack of guests rather than staff shortages.

We attended as a group of 28 golfers with doubles and singles matches on the same day. Was a great day/knight even though the weather was challenging. The staff were very helpful and polite at all times. Food and service was great. All round a really good experience and would recommend to anyone looking to do something similar.

Generally very good: rooms, staff and food were great but the bar arrangements were not ideal, the pool/etc was also disappointing. One of our group had an issue with their Exec room but the hotel dealt with that direct.

Golf course was in great condition for October, and accommodation was very good. The only issue we had was with the tee times and courses. The times and course that we had been given on our confirmation booking, did not match what the golf course had been sent by your golf travel. This left us have to run to the other course right before our tee time re-organising Nearest the Pins, Longest Drives, scorecards all on the fly to make sure we could get out as there wasn't any flex on the tee times.

We loved the whole experience! From start to finish the staff couldn't have been more helpful. The duty manager was professional and courteous at all times. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the food was excellent, the golf shop fully stocked! Pre-booked buggies and trollies! Both golf courses were beautiful and all 20 of us really enjoyed ourselves, thank you to everyone!

room was large the bathroom was nice though the separate shower was on the small side for my 18 stone frame and the step down was potentially dangerous for me or anyone careless.bed was great and tv fine. we did not need the fan provided.We enjoyed the 2 courses each had some challenging holes.

The hotel staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble, the accommodation was spacious and clear, with everything you needed for a stress free stay. We would recommend this to all our friends, and would be happy to comeback again for another stay.

Lovely large room with very comfy beds and all the required amenities. Bathroom excellent size with a very nice walk-in shower and bath. Bar and terrace very nice and service at all times was spot-on.

Nice clean spacious room. Only half full restaurant for evening meal but had to wait nearly an hour for our main meal which was very disappointing! On other golf trips I have been on the evening meal has always been substantial but this one wasn’t much bigger than a starter! Staff were not very helpful either. On Breakfast the following morning there was over a 20 minute for fried eggs and when I asked as to when they would be available the waitress totally ignored me. We also planned on having just a spa day on the Sunday morning prior to checking out but this was closed so we ended up paying for 9 holes of golf ( The golf shop was very accommodating) and also having to pay for an extended check out because the golf would have over run the check out time. No mentions of compensation for this either. Don’t think I’d return.

A great hotel complex, ideal for a two day/one night golf break. Only criticism was that at busy times the service was exceptionally slow. It appeared that the kitchen was unable to cope with the volume of orders at certain times in the day. We were very adequately compensated for this problem once the issue was raised.

Well organised and professional in all respects! Staff very helpful and efficient. Food was excellent and restaurant/tables very well presented.

The room was excellent. Would highly recommend this venue. Nice little pub about 1/4 mile away called the Cherry Tree was also very pleasant.

Excellent rooms large and comfy. Very clean and spacious. Food was a little disappointing as I believe the kitchen was being refurbished and choice was limited. Same limited dinner menu both evenings of our stay. Breakfast was fine. Hotel was very quiet and the main bars and clubhouse bar were closed so had to use the Orangery bar. I would definitely visit again though

The hotel was extremely quiet with very few quests so not much atmosphere. Staff as usual very attentive.Because of few people only one bar open and due to floor being replaced in kitchen certain items not available at breakfast.

The rooms were very nice. Clean, large and well equipped with Tea and coffee. The only negative on the weekend was the food long waiting to be served and not much choice. Not worth the wait. The staff tried very hard and were all very nice.

Rooms are a little tired with frayed carpets and no room care. Food in the restaurant was excellent! A shortage of staff meant queues at the bar; up to fifteen minutes at lunchtime.

The hotel bar area was beginning to look tired with some chairs down to sponge. The food was very good but took about 45 minutes to arrive. Could do with more activities for the evening in the bar .

Very nice hotel and surroundings experienced by all. Not massive like some of the big resorts but enough space around the bar and restaurant for all. Rooms were nice and clean and staff quite helpful.

Excellent from start to finish

Loved all of it. It was brilliant to have the putting practice area right outside our room too. Great also to watch the Masters in the bar when we finished our rounds. Jono made the recommendation, sorted perfect tee times and was charming, lovely and professional.

Went on a 1 night, DB&B 2 round deal. Rooms were excellent, food was excellent, staff were excellent! Courses were a bit muddy, but that probably down to the time of year. Would definitely recommend

The hotel was comfortable and the staff were agreeable. The food was very good especially dinner on the two nights we stayed.

Lovely stay, great location and building. however, the facilities are bit dated and could do with some upgrade. We haven't used the swimming pool but the changing rooms are very small and the overall ambience need to be refreshed. Lovely breakfast to start the day.

Possibly this is post-Covid but the service was really poor. The food was good but the delays in ordering and receiving both food and drink were lengthy. The room was not properly cleaned and we were not impressed with the pool/sauna area.

A poor limited selection of draught beers which were poorly kept and served up in 1970s style pint glasses Only ever 1 person behind the bar so always a queue Also most clubhouse bars have a few TVs on with sport being shown here there is a tv occasionally on downstairs but the bar is upstairs Food was bang average as well The Cherry Tree Inn just down the road would be the place to go for beer and food if we went again

Not as clean and could be, bathroom door didn't shut, old towels...holes in them, hair dryer didn't work but they replaced it quickly. Leisure facilities poor. Staff v friendly.

Second year visiting from the London area. Another very enjoyable trip. Really handy location, well equipped and relaxed environment. Looking forward to next year!

In general the stay was very good, value for money for the whole package was very good. A call out for one of the staff in particular, Lauren, in the restaurant, she was very good, attentive, understanding and very competent. Some suggestions for Dale Hill to consider. Could an account be opened for groups prior to room allocation, it would make cost management a lot easier. A holding account that could be changed to and then transferred to a room later? Our group stayed for 3 nights and eat in the Restaurant, whilst the food was very good, considering the package cost, the 'Soup of the Day' and 'Catch of the Day' was the same on all 3 days!! There were no changes on the menu's at all. Whilst there was a reasonable choice, it was a little constraining for slightly longer stays.

The standard of both the food and bar were unfortunately a let down. This was a shame as both the staff and accommodation were very good and the course was excellent.

Lovely venue and good courses. Staff were very slow to take orders and serve food but very polite. They need a few more staff tbh. The pro shop guy was very rude/abrupt when they messed up tee times and it over run and a queue built up at the first.

The room was big and the bed was comfortable, staff were all very friendly and helpful.

Good all round accommodation and facilities. Of course the Covid restrictions meant that some facilities were not available or restricted but that said wee still had a great time. Lack of a usable fridge/minibar in the room was surprising. Our last day was a wash out but the club offered vouchers so we could come back for that last round.

The staff at this hotel were fantastic could not do enough for us. Even kept the restaurant open for us because of a late arrival. I did spill a cup of tea on the sheet of my bed unfortunately they did not change the bedding . We were disappointed with the menu because we had the same menu for 4 nights. And the breakfast food was not very well presented and only Luke warm at best .

Great location and fantastic golf. I would revisit for this alone. The bar area and quality of food in the bar including cleanliness is very poor indeed and I hope this is improved.

The rooms were excellent, really comfortable beds and modern facilities. The Hotel itself was good but décor was a bit dated and could probably do with modernising. It looks like it hasn’t been touched since the 80’s. We all thought the food was excellent. The menu was superb, dinner and breakfast were fantastic – I’d visit again just for the food. Also, the head guy running the restaurant deserves particular praise, he was old school and absolutely superb. Overall it was a good experience and we would definitely go back.

Very good hotel, "Your Golf Travel" did not pass on the problems on the Woosnam course they are having--but the Hotel when they heard really looked after us good food, good service good value. Would go again.

Very fresh and modern room. Lovely bathroom and shower. Balcony overlooking the course, really nice. Hotel restaurant food was good quality, but a tad fussy for hungry golfers to be honest. However, there was an option to mix and match with the bar menu, which we discovered for night two. More substantial food for fellas who have built up an appetite on the course. Bar and restaurant prices would be a bit steep if you weren't on an all inclusive deal.

Not a large hotel. Very friendly & welcoming staff. Clean rooms with comfortable beds and nice quiet location. Good quality pub grub type dinner and great selection of tasty hot and cold food for breakfast.

Now to the golf...

The Woosnam Course was poor. It was very wet and as such the greens weren’t very good. Having said that the Old Course was much better and everyone enjoyed it.

All in all its winter golf at the moment and this is the risk you take when you play at this time of year. However when you look at what we paid it was great value for money.

We will be back in touch with YGT and booking a trip next year.

Great course. Well thought out. Some holes need distance and some need more accuracy. This is one of my favourite courses. The greens ran true, and after playing the Old Course the day before felt 'really quick'. The course was almost empty the day we played!

Front 9 is a little bland. Back 9 has more interesting holes. Greens were slow. Course generally needs a bit of TLC

All of our golfers enjoyed the challenge of this quite difficult course - as reflected in the scoring - somewhat lower than on the Old Course. However - a pleasant experience - enjoyed by all.

Beautiful golf course , front 9 has quite wide fairways but really tightens up on the back 9 where accuracy is key off the tee Greens rolled really well and are well watered so they hold a high ball in

Played this course twice,so it was easier second time around.For a resort course it was perfect.A good challenge for all standards of players.Not so hilly as the woosnan but still enjoyable to play.

The woosnan course was enjoyable to play but very challenging,quite a few blind holes and tricky par 3s uphill. Would loved to play it again.The back 9 I think was most challenging in the 30s on the day we played.

Excellent course, perhaps a little more open than the old. Some great holes. Parts had clearly suffered from the very dry weather, but this was conveyed to us at the beginning of the round by the starter.

Great course, not long but does make you think about shot placements especially off the tee.

A beautiful challenging course, especially without having played it before. Very tight greens with plenty of undulation. Tight fairways with both water and other hazards to catch you out. The hills and bends also added to the experience making the approach to the greens more challenging.

Interesting course with good variety of holes. Quite small undulating greens, some of which sadly suffered from damage to the grass, perhaps from birds or turf disease.

We preferred the Woosnam to the Old Course. The course was challenging with some interesting holes, of note the 16th where my ball remains on display at the edge of the bottom of the ditch. The fairways were good but again the greens were not great. As a group of 14 women the prevailing comment was that there were no facilities at all. Management should look into this. Despite the negative comments overall we really enjoyed playing the Woosnam and would think about going back to stay at Dale Hill.

This was our first round of the trip. Generally good, lovely fairways, but would say greens were not in tip top condition. But overall a nice round of golf.

Old course was good bit of damage and GUR on greens but good woosnham course was great nicer greens and fairways very nice.

Greens on here were a lot worse than the Woosnam again due to course maintenance overall very nice Would definitely return in the summer .

Course I imagine in the summer will be lovely , sadly I’m guessing course maintenance has been going on so greens still sandy . Overall lovely place and worth the money.

Great course with far-reaching views. Excellent variety, with some long Par 5s, lots of dog legs and elevated greens making even the shorter holes a good challenge. There were a few bare lies in the rough, but that was a product of the sunny March/April after the wet winter. Would definitely return!

The course was muddy, as expected this time of year. It was not always clear where the next tee is located, so it would be useful to have signage. There were no ball cleaners on the course.

Due to the very heavy rain the course was barely playable. The general consensus was that most member only courses would have closed. The Greens drained really well given the circumstances but the fairways were largely a quagmire .

Unfortunately, the weather had been very wet and the course should really not have been playable. We struggled around nine holes and gave up.

Despite the deluge of rain all week the course remained open and other than being a bit squelchy under foot the greens were superb

The course was in good general condition but the difference between rough and fairway was not always clear. The bunkers were not in great condition. The ladies enjoyed playing it, found it challenging but most enjoyed the Woosnam more, which had more variety in general..

I enjoyed the challenges of the course and the round went quickly. Some groups were held up but this may be due to the abilities of our players. Rain on the first day made it more challenging. A lot of bunkers were GUR. Toilet access would be an advantage. A halfway house or refreshment buggy might do well with groups this size. I thought the nearest the pins had been arranged in advance so we did not have them on day 1 and I had to request them on the subsequent days. Availability of buggies was good and it worked well to organise our players in advance. The ladies were a little disappointed with the stock in the pro shop. When I visited in advance we had discussed that they would have plenty of stock for ladies who are happy to shop! Everyone was very friendly and helpful.

Course was very undulating and very challenging for the average golfer with some really tough par 3 holes. Bunkers were abundant. Need to acknowledge that this course was set up as a championship course back in the day so designed to challenge the best golfers in the world. Again, beautiful scenery.

Played here previously. Only problem was that the greens had recently been vert-drained but still did not affect our enjoyment

Lack of signs for directions to each hole. Whilst there were signs on the grass of the tees indicating the hole number there were no upright boards showing you hole number and layout. Made it difficult to see from the buggy path when the tee is elevated.

Thought greens were slow. But overall course was ok.

Our group mostly agreed that this presented the greater challenge of the two courses and not just because of its length advantage. Physically more demanding than the Old Course the Woosnam Course had more intimidating tee shots, longer holes and greens that were difficult to approach. Whilst the scoring was lower on this one, it was still a course to suit everyone’s abilities and a pleasure to play.

We played the course when it was very wet but even so it was presented in good condition. The greens ran relatively fast and true given the amount of recent rain. A fair test of golf.

I love this course. Highlights are tumbling down the hill from 6th to 9th. Then the outstanding uphill par 3s 10 and 16, and then the glorious short part 4 17th in the valley. Did I mention the 600 yard 1st? Condition was good as well.

As a second course the Old course is not bad. We did find the greens a little slow, but on the back 9 in particular there are some interesting holes.

An excellent resort course which is very tricky in places, it was in good condition although some of the tees need a little TLC. All in all very enjoyable.

Some interesting holes, but some tees a bit scruffy. Neither of the two courses had a half way hut, and did not pass the pro shop during the round, so any food or drink needed to be purchased prior to play.

Was a great well kept course, slightly harder than the Dale Course and unfortunately we didnt get the weather on this one but i think on a sunny day is a right beauty. One thing i Would say though is no halfway house or anyone out with a refreshment buggy on either course.

Layout of the course is very good. The course is long with most of us unable to reach the greens in regulation on Par 4s and 5s. The average time for a four-ball is about 5 hours, which is slow!!!

There had been a lot of rain on the preceding days and as a result, on the first day, the fairways had not been cut and it was soggy in places. Two dry days later the fairways had been cut and the course was better presented.

More interesting course to test any golfer. Be warned…it’s long!

Despite the wet weather the course held up pretty well. Nothing spectacular but plenty of challenge.

Too be fair based on how the weather has been I was impressed with the quality of the course. The 17th was a little soggy but the rest of the course was in great condition. Some fantastic and interesting holes to play and our group was a mix of handicaps and everyone really enjoyed the day. In the Summer this would be a great course to play and one I will be coming back to.

Amazing conditions considering the amount of rain and wind driver to hit 175 yrd par 3 into the wind I think it will be stunning in the summer

A gem of course, with some amazing holes. Course was in really good condition considering how wet it has been. A real test for any ability and certainly a real must to play.

The course was very wet and boggy but this is wasn't a surprise given the time of year and the rain that has fallen. The greens were poor and still had holes in them from hollow tining.

First round was slow, as many players were on the course. Not knowing the course made it very difficult to play. Second round was much quicker, as no-one in front or behind. It is a tough course for high handicappers

A long par 5 to start followed by several par 4 holes which although none were over 400 yards from yellow tees were not easy due to well placed bunkers and dog legs. 3 of the par 3 holes were very challenging although excellently constructed

A fairly short course with parallel holes on front 9 back 9 was quirky an tricky par 3 holes.

A couple of difficult par 3 holes and a trio of challenging par 4 holes at end of front 9. I needed a buggy and they were much in demand.

I played to handicap on both courses , and could have scored better had my putting was a bit off, how ever we have had a fantastic time at Dale Hill and we will be back.

This course was a bit better than the woosnam course but very boggy in places the fairways wasn't cut the only one what had been cut was the 18th but the greens were nice and fast

We was all looking forward to be playing the woosnam coarse but all said how bad condition it was in the fairways hadn't been cut the rough was tough to get out off we was losing balls in the rough where it hadn't been cut for at least a couple of weeks and the greens were slow.

Good test of golf no run on fairways because of heavy rain but enjoyable. Would recommend a buggy on the Woosnam course for the not so fit players

Course had taken a lot of rain and is quite long so was pretty tough, would definitely like to return when a bit dryer as it is a nice course.

Course lay out excellent. Greens in terrible condition. Appears to be moss and when walking on the green footprints were left in the moss.

Tricky for us as none of the party had played the course before! Quite a few shots played blind of the outcome but interesting none-the-less! Disappointing that we were unable to hire buggies (3) but understand that a 'charity' event had pre-booked the entire fleet!

4hr round, nice golf course

Five and a half hour round, not happy, the fairways were burnt badly but to be expected with the summer we had.

For a range of ladies of differing ages and abilities, it was a bit of a challenge for the higher handicaps but a good challenge for the more able and lower handicap players

Despite the extreme heat and long period of drought, the course was in reasonable condition considering and the greens were good.

Due to very dry conditions and quite rugged terrain we experienced some bad bounces and the course is set up/designed for low handicap players. Highly guarded greens in the main made approach shots difficult and the need for accuracy was paramount- not something us mid handicappers are good at! However, we would definitely come back when there has been some rain and the fairways are more forgiving.

A shorter course than we usually play but very enjoyable as approach shorts were full shots and not half shots due to not reaching greens in regulation!

This is a tight course with some very interesting holes especially on the back nine. Easy to loose a ball on a slightly wayward shot. Review might be slightly biased as it rained all day so didn’t make for great golf but I would love to play it again in better weather

I preferred the Woosnam course over the Old course. Interesting holes and little bit more open than the Old. Some great views over the downs. Some blind shots on both courses so it was a benefit to play this course twice. Fairways and greens were in excellent condition

Played this course twice. First time like millionaire s golf(never saw anyone). Second time unfortunately rained entire round.

As usual the course was excellent only the T boxes needed to be tidied up to make the course excellent. As usual pro shop staff fantastic service and happily rearranged start times if required (obviously able due to lack of golfers)

The course was in good all round condition and pace of play was good. We had a very enjoyable round and would play this course again.

We didn’t enjoy this round. The round was very slow, the course was very tired and the greens were long and bumpy. We would probably not play this course again. This is not a course for high handicap golfers as some of the carries into the greens require long high shots. We saw a lot of golfers struggling.

Round was slow due to a 4 ball , 3 groups ahead of us.Some of the holes were extremely difficult but stunning visually. Good range of different par holes.

The greens were not in the best conditions what looked like a lot of repair marks not do it was coring but not filled and rolled bunkers could do with a bit more sand or a massive raking and also need to make sure the rakes are not just dumped in the bunkers. And all the 150 markers were well out of yardage

Greens were very slow due to being treated. Course very well laid out. Not the easiest but not the hardest i have played.

Lovely set up as we made our way around the course. Nice not to do the usual up and downs. Course In good shape. Par 5’s long and par 3’s short. Steep gradient on the quite long walks between holes. Very enjoyable. I would like to return.

We had a challenging round because of the very strong winds but completed and enjoyed it. It was Interesting and green positions made playing approach shots show case entertainment.

Very slow round over 4 half hours and it didn't need to be. - greens very bobbly and didn't run true and very hard so very difficult to get the ball to stop. Would definitely go back to play Dale Hill again.

Fortunate to play when we did as the course if very tree lined so not in full bloom and all the leaves had shed and cleared so lucky. You will need to be able to hit the ball straight and consistent but not necessarily long.

Muddy, but it was early March Felt that some of the feature holes were not maintained, ie wood work, ditches, ponds. E we much just let it down a bit. It’s a long trek, but we enjoyed it

The weather was bad and the course was sodden so it is difficult to judge how it would play under less testing conditions. I would like to play it again in dry fine weather.

Lovely course , it was a rainy day with some bright spell but it didn't distract to the beauty of the place and some of the challenging wholes, very interesting. It's a shame that no facilities were available to clean your muddy shoes or equipment, the air blower outside wasn't working and it would have been a real bonus. especially in the winter.

A very nice course with some testing par 3’s and a long opening hole. It was well maintained and the greens were true. I wish other golfers would repair their pitch marks as in winter this is more of an issue.

Much tighter course than the Ian Woosnam course. Lots of dog legs, and generally a nice woodland course.

Very nice course opening with a 580 yard par 5. Lots of nice holes and the greens were in superb condition! All in all a lovely course.

Greens were recovering from work but enjoyed it, back 9 has more character.

Although I've rated this course as Hard, the slope rating supports that. We thought it was a really exceptional design, lots of very good par 3's, strategic par 4's, long tough par 5's. Condition was very good. In our groups view it overshadowed the Old course, which felt correct, but the Old course was also very good, the point being that the Woosnam is better,... in our opinion. Absolutely love the design of the course, so interesting, good views and good piece of land to play golf on. A very fair course too, very playable and made you think.

A good course, well maintained and in good condition overall. Enjoyable course, strategic, some very nice holes. Just a couple of points. The 3rd green is a joke. Pin at the front, the greens were quick, anything above the hole went off the green! Silly. Some of the greens had bear patches! Probably weather related.

The feedback from the group was that the course was excellent. The weather during the days prior to us going was very wet however the course held up very well.

A very challenging course both in terms of its length and the unforgiving rough. The very wet conditions increased the challenge though the greens remained in pretty good condition. Playing it for the first time increased the difficulty and we all felt that we would have improved on a second round (though wouldn’t all golfers say that!)

We loved the course. Great views and some very picturesque holes, the drive off the first is spectacular. With some generous fairways, particularly on the front nine, the course was fair to all levels . We were a group of mid to high handicappers; all enjoyed it. There had been a lot of rain beforehand and parts of the course were quite boggy but the greens remained true and surprisingly quick

The Old Course was the polar opposite of the Woosnam, with big wide fairways and generous greens. Again the course was in excellent condition, but was an easy option against the Woosnam, as our cards showed. Again it was raining so it was slow and wet, so we never got to enjoy the course to it's full potential. In summary it was a great couple of days in spite of contracting influenza, but given a second bite at this weekend I would save the Woosnam course to last. The facilities are excellent and the staff at the hotel, and on the courses, courteous and helpful. It will not be the last event I hold here.

A beautifully designed golf course using the contours of the land to full effect, and with beautiful views. It was raining which made the course difficult and the rough was particularly challenging. The condition of the course and the greens, especially, was excellent.

We had reserved buggies but no buggies available as course was deemed to be too wet. Then there were no trollies available! We managed to find and borrow those that were scattered around but a couple had to carry their bags which wasn't good.

The fairways were very muddy in places after the latest rain. The greens slow and spongy. The course would be best played in summer or spring when a bit drier. Overall a good challenging course and enjoyable course i will return!

Nice layout with plenty of variation in the holes and good use of the landscape. On Friday The course was really wet, 90% of bunkers were unplayable and some puddles formed on the greens. It was borderline whether it should have been open but the weather cleared and it improved in the afternoon.

Really enjoyed the round. There are some absolutely stunning holes on the course – really beautiful! Only gripe would be that some of the rough was quite long and had grass cuttings all over it which made finding any wayward balls into the rough really difficult to find. I couldn’t understand why it had to be kept so long and why the grass cuttings weren’t collected. It slowed the round up looking for balls which should have been easy to find. All in all a nice place and we would go again and hope to play the Woosnam next time too.

I loved this course. Some open holes to start, and then many among the trees. I thought the greens here were a shade better than the Woosnam. Some spectacular and imaginative holes, with beautifully interesting and contoured fairways and greens. Shorter hitters may find it on the difficult side, particularly if the wind blows. One of the nicer courses I have played....I WILL be back.

A really lovely course with some outstanding holes. Sadly, suffering from an acute infestation of leather jackets. Grounds staff had scraped away very large areas of a lot of the fairways, leaving no where for a decent lie at all on some. Not their fault, but spoiled the experience to a degree. Greens fair to good, a little inconsistent for speed in my opinion, but quite true.

Very bad infestation of “leather jacket grubs” that had decimated the fairways on many of the holes. Had been pre-warned to expect “patches” of infestation but there were whole fairways out of action with no fairway grass and uneven mud in it’s place. As the chemical that kills the grub is now banned and the infestation growing it will take a very long time to recover. Course simply should not have been open. Shame as laid out nicely and looks like would have been a good course.

Good society course. Many holes go either up or down the hill so worth booking a buggy. Slow round as was we were one of 3 societies on the course that day. In overall good condition. Not overly difficult but worth a play

The greens were disgraceful, the course was in bad condition, it was a very slow round. In good condition it would be fantastic. Giving us dessert as the course was under maintenance was an insult. We should have been given free buggies as requested. Other than that we had a great time.
