Duke’s Course

Lowlight of our trip as course is still undergoing maintenance with hollow tined greens and tracks on fairways. One hole was shortened from par 5 to par 3. Felt like a let down and wasted money!

Great course, greens on the back 9 not in the best conditon, but to be expected this time of year

Stunning! A hidden gem in many ways. Beautiful layout, excellent condition, great customer service. One of my all time favorite courses and would become a member if I lived nearby. Challenging, immaculate, fun!

Very wet made things i bit tricky

A course to play in the summer months. Not at it’s best in February after a heavy nights rain. Excellent clubhouse and facilities

February, so damp. Lots of major maintenance happening on the fairways. Staff very friendly. The most expensive coffee of the week.

Nice course at lovely location. Staff very nice and helpful. Greens were being dressed again so had to expect not running perfectly. 50mph winds this day and impossible to get a good round in. Can’t imagine lovely in the summer with amazing views over towards St Andrews. I thought the buggy hire was way too pricy though. £50 for a buggy is just not good. Hilly course so buggy required

What a lovely course- we needed a buggy as it is long. Lovely views and with great weather, it was perfect

The course had just had maintenance carried out and condition wasn’t the best but I would think it would be a fantastic course in the summer

Matt and Martin really enjoyed playing the course on Saturday and Sunday it was a dream come true

Great course and staff were brilliant

Cold grey day but welcoming staff and enjoyed the bacon roll and coffees included.Greens were great on 29th March and course would normally have great views

Easy access and friendly reception in the Pro shop. Picturesque parkland course with fabulous views over the coastline and the town. The course was quite soggy after recent rain, and the greens had just been treated, but was surprised we were using normal tees and greens in early March. Quite hilly in places, but not too difficult, enjoyed the round. Some slow play ahead of us but not too bad. We would return once we try all the other courses in St Andrews!!

A bit wet underfoot but still a great track

Great course, we just timed it bad as they where preparing the greens so alot of sand out and dimples to putt through, would like to go back and play when the greens where in better condition.

A stunning location in a parkland style course set above St Andrews and with great views. Good practice facilities and very friendly bar/balcony with good setting for post play relaxation. Would have appreciated the hut being open for refreshment at halfway at lunchtime. Good golfing experience, though course is 'protected' by a dramatic amount of bunkers (I seemed to be in most of them) and these were not of good quality, with different sand quality and many stones (I chipped a club). So a good course overall, but can be improved and not as good as the links courses just 3 miles away.

Unfortunately I spent most of the round on edge in case we were struck by golf balls as visibility was less than 100 yards Kevin

Course was in good condition at this time of year and a few good challenging holes. Will definitely be back

We used electric trolleys but soon realised there is a fair bit of walking to be done between holes, especially going from the 9th to the 10th tee. Keeps you fit!

Although the weather was nasty, we enjoyed our round because we had buggies and had no trouble playing the course.

The Dukes is a quality championship course , not the easiest golf course but a true test of golf . The course was in excellent condition , with the greens not quite at their best due to the time of year ( end of March ) A delight to play .

I have previously played the dukes and it was interesting to see the changes they have made to the course. The course has fantastic views over St Andrews

Lovely course just felt like it could be laid out a bit better. No signs for the next few box and a few tee boxes were near to others, causing confusion. Each hole played very well with the 17th being my favourite

Owned by The Old Course Hotel, The Dukes Course is only about 7 minutes from the Ardgowan Hotel which was our base for our society golf tour in St Andrews. When you enter the gates you’re properly wowed going up the drive to the course. The scenery is beautiful at the Dukes, with the gorse in full bloom and everything about the place being very grand. The course is a great tree lined layout, which can get pretty testing as it’s quite tight at times and there are some long holes with a lot of gorse. All of the guys in our group loved the course even though some found it tough.
