While Dunston Hall is long enough to make highly-skilled players take notice, it is also very playable for golfers of every standard, making it the ideal choice for groups and families looking for a beautiful spot for a golf and leisure break. The 22-bay driving range is the perfect place to warm up or work on a few swing changes.
Dunston Hall's best hole is the demanding par-4 16th, where your approach shot must be well struck to carry the lake that guards the front of the putting surface.

The magnificent Elizabethan façade at the end of the grandiose driveway makes visitors aware that they have arrived somewhere very special. Inside the hotel, the 166 bedrooms are made up of a range of standard and family units, in addition to the extravagant suites.
The traditional flavour of the hall can be felt most prominently in the four-poster and the attic rooms, which feature the original oak beamed ceilings. In contrast to the period features in the hotel, all bedrooms have been equipped with the modern facilities and amenities that are required of a good 4-star hotel, including internet access.
The Grade II listed building is without doubt one of the most austere venues not only in the East, but in all of England, making it the perfect choice for a golf break with a bit of old-fashioned class.
The hotel also offers three dining options, with the Brasserie restaurant serving breakfast in the mornings and dinner from 6.30pm. Alternatively, the Garden Terrace bar and Bunkers Bar offer a range of light meals and drinks throughout the day with stunning views over the hotel gardens and golf course.
Dunston Hall is a perfect retreat for some relaxation, where the health and beauty centre is the place to be pampered, with a range of excellent treatments on offer. For the more active, the hotel is fitted with a swimming pool, aerobic studio and a superbly equipped gym, in addition to the sauna, steam room and whirlpool spa. Wind down in the evening with a few frames of snooker.

The rooms were comfortable and well equipped. The hotel was clean and the restaurant food was good. Our only real concern was the bar opening times. The golfers bar closes at 17:30 unless it’s a Friday/Saturday night. The other hotel bar has last orders at 10:30. 🥴

The accommodation was very good but the room I was in was close to the supply and the fan kept waking me as I am a light sleeper

CHeckoing in was quick and easy. The room was very nice inside and had everything needed for a short stay. Very clean room and quiet. The only negatib=ve with the room was a strong musty smell of damp in the bathroom, needed to keep the door closed whilst in the room. The restaurant areas are very good, the food excellent and reasonably priced for a hotel. The staff in the evenings and at breakfast were very good, excellent service and very pleasant.

Hotel facilities are great. The restaurant has a good menu and the quality of food was excellent for dinner. Remember however, you will spend more than the £32 allowance from the booking. Hotel room hot (sadly no aircon), other than that the room way comfortable and clean. Like most chain hotels, it’s heading toward needing a refurbishment of the rooms in3 the next 10 years.

Greens were very sandy, so difficult to judge the speed and line when putting. this is a good course if you are new to golf as there is not a lot of holes that test you.

Challenging course for us shorter hitters Water comes into play especially if a bit wayward unfortunately lot of prep going on with the greens however didn’t spoil things too much imagine them to be very slick through the summer fairways in good shape considering the weather overall very enjoyable would not hesitate to recommend

The course has been designed in mind to catch you out with lots of tree lined fairways, bunkers and dog legs. The greens are in good condition. The tee off boxes have abit of wear but it’s been a dry summer. Overall a nice course to play with 18th hole as the signature hole in front of Dunstan Hall itself.

Good course and a decent test for the average golfer without being too tough.

Firstly, the staff in the golf shop and the Bunkers bar were all very good, pleasant and helpful. The course was fine but we did not get to see it at it's best due to the high winds during the time of our visit. That said we enjoyed both days and would happily go back again. Greens were in very good condition, fairways were good but lots of leaves and small branches blowing about due to the winds.

Narrow course with lots of hidden hazards. So you need to carefully navigate the course. Day 1 was a voyage of discovery as there are no hole layout maps on the tee, so be prepared to us a GPS map of some sort. Despite this a very enjoyable round. Day 2 was a completely different experience as we knew what to expect and how to attempt to play the course. If you are a big hitter who like long holes and wider fairways, Dunston Hall will not be the course for you. However, if you like a course where you need to be accurate and play the bag to the course, you will really enjoy this track.

Course was very good for layout but greens was slow and you couldn’t stop on and if you chip before it would bounce anyway. so difficult but had fun
