Precise Resort El Rompido

Excellent hotel, spoilt only by late night noisy drinkers keeping some members of our party awake

Billed as 5 star but it isn’t. The rooms are perfectly nice but the restaurant falls short. There are also problems with rowdy behaviour around the pool in the afternoons.

Facilities were excellent. Rooms spacious and comfortable and hotel has a good feeling. There could be more bar space and some staff were not very friendly or efficient.

We couldn't fault our room but then we were upgraded to a suite but saying that I wouldn't say the room was 5* accommodation. If we were to go again we would ask for a pool view as we had nothing!! Could be a long walk to carry clubs from some rooms!

The rooms were very well appointed, however, some of our party paid extra for superior rooms. When we arrived we were all given superior rooms, even those who had not paid for this. Some of our party were allocated rooms above or near the bar with live music. The noise, until around 12, did cause some stress and lack of sleep. One of our group did request an alternative room but the staff were unable to help with this. This was compounded by noise from the main reception area.

Great set up at the hotel-Perfect for golfers-Everything was great apart from the larger and the bar food quite poor in fact- But you know when you're hungry after 18 holes! Not much going on in the evenings entertainment wise I think every other day there might be. Might be because it's early on in the season.

Staff were lovely but there were not enough of them to meet demand. No tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms. The only way to get a coffee 1st thing in the morning was at breakfast. Generally it was a little tired.

Apartment booked was unavailable so got put up in the hotel, this was initially disappointing but after receiving a free upgrade to a better room turned out ok.

I wanted to write a review about our golf trip to Precise Hotel El Rompido. Having visited and played at many European golf destinations I feel well placed to give an honest account of our three night stay at this hotel on the Portuguese Spanish border. We visited in Feb 2025. Our first impressions of the hotel were generally not too bad although annoyingly our key card never seemed to work in our door on the first day and we had to keep going back to reception to get it fixed. Ultimately it was deemed that the door battery needed replacing and they were kind enough to do that once we were playing golf and they even gave us a bottle of red wine to compensate us. Several areas of the hotel were looking rather tired and in need of repair. Our room was more than adequate though and it was clean and made-up for us everyday but the chambermaid. Shower and a bath in our twin room and the water pressure and temperature was excellent. However, on more than one occasion there were some very unpleasant drain smells especially in reception. We were staying half board and chose to have a lunch at the Golf Club as the food was fresher and cheaper than at the hotel which had a rather limited lunch selection. The hotel breakfast was actually very decent and set us up well each day. The evening meals were always a buffet and again had rather limited selection for a hotel that size. There was always an option of fish each night which we chose to have. Both wine by the glass and by the bottle were good value at $6.40 and $20. There was a nice mix of nationalities and it was apparent that many of the Scandinavians in particular had come over for a self catering holiday and some of them were staying up to one month. As it was beginning of the season we didn't feel as if it was particularly busy ever although I imagined that later in the year the hotel and the golf courses would be a lot busier. A nice little golf trip but I wouldn't recommend this particular hotel unless you are in a large group and are wanting a cheaper alternative to sone of the more well known destinations near Faro in particular. It was still nice to go to and we did get some winter sun!

5th time here - it’s hard to beat as a golfing location.

All staff excellent service

This was our fifth stay at the hotel over about 15 years. Unfortunately, it will be our last. There was a lack of staff who you could see were unhappy. Food was very average. The golf course was in a shocking state. The fairways were covered in weeds and the greens were badly diseased. The bunkers had been through heavy rain a week before but had not been repaired. The hotel needs investment

All the facilities you could possibly need. Great staff and the drinks package is definitely worth purchasing.

Accommodation excellent but nothing much around it. Nearest village was a very very quiet small village with a few restaurants on an inlet. Appeared to be shutting down for winter. Beach was an issue had to get a ferry to it so didn’t bother too much hassle

Really enjoyed the ambience of this hotel with golfers and groups. The golf shop thought we hadn’t paid for buggies and there was some confusion about buggies being booked for our second golf day. So had to change golf day so we could have buggies. Didn’t spoil our appreciation of both courses.

Hotel nice and clean, Bed Room large and comfortable with walk-in shower. Majority of Restaurant & bar staff miserable and very unhelpful, they could do with customer Service training and need to smile more? Drink prices very expensive especially for non premium brands, half the price in El Romdipo. Buffet breakfast and dinner plentiful with lots of choice but the majority of hot food was tepid. However there was a microwave to heat food up, could not use coffee/tea machines at evening meal? One night We had a leak in our bedroom water was coming through ceiling from air con unit, called reception to report, maintenance came within 10mins and fixed straight away, very good service. I would not say this was a 5 ⭐️ hotel, you had to fetch own drinks around the pool area and was served in plastic beakers. Saying all that above we would return as it was good value for money.

We were offered an apartment rather than rooms in hotel which we accepted as we then had our own bedroom and bathroom. It did however cause a lot of confusion in the restaurants. We were told by reception that we could use either but neither had us on their lists

Rooms are good, gym is well equipped albeit dumb bells only go to 20kg but can make do, pool is nice, food is good with plenty of choice. Only negative is that dinner drinks are limited to one medium glass of wine or small beer even if you have the dinner and evening drinks package and you are not allowed to take drinks from the bar into the restaurant. Practice facilities are range, chipping green with bunkers and another longer green with one end for putting and one for chipping. Better than my home course and I have seen better but more than adequate for my needs

We stayed in an apartment with a balcony overlooking the first hole south course. Clean well appointed room,comfortable beds and a good shower. Plenty of room for two people.

The Hotel is in a lovely setting with very easy access to both golf courses, with a very good size swimming pool plenty of sunbeds and easy access to the village of El Rompido. The bedrooms have everything you might need with fridge, extra pillows bathrobes and spacious enough for luggage and golf clubs. The reception staff were extremely helpful with any questions we asked.

Room was clean, tidy and very roomy, with a good size balcony. Air-con, wifi and seperate toilet & bathroom.

Hotel, food and golf courses and golf clubhouse were super. Staff in hotel could have been better. Tea , coffee and an iron would have been nice in the room.

out of the 16 people the key cards stopped working for 10 of them

The hotel was really good our only issue was we thought we had booked semi all inclusive for our stay the same as a previous visit but we hadn’t and it wasn’t available unless we were staying for 5 nights or more and drinks in the hotel are very expensive

Very comfortable, good room, good food and with 2 golf courses on site all very convenient. I would recommend the hotel.

Based on our experience the hotel is 4 not 5 star, nor is it a luxurious relaxing holiday. It is great for large groups which is where the hotel clearly makes their money but to the detriment of couples. The restaurant is too small for the number of guests and the food whilst decent enough is limited in choice. Breakfast is identical every day. Tables are reserved and stocked with bottles of wine for the large groups whilst couples/smaller groups are left scrabbling round for a table and somebody to serve them a drink. However, the golf courses are very good and a credit to the green staff especially as the courses are very, very busy.

The accommodation was excellent, the food was the best in any hotel that we have stayed in. Service at the hotel and in restaurant was also very good.

Everything on your doorstep. Great practice facilities, two excellent courses within 5 mins of hotel . Have been to this location 3 times now and never disappoints . El Rompido has some lovely bars and restaurants within 1/2 hour walk. Ideal golf holiday break for couples.

This is definitely a golf hotel but also has very good swimming/ sunbathing areas. The food was good with a wide choice. This was particularly true when a large group of cyclists were staying. Rooms are comfortable, clean and well equipped.

Wonderful one-week stay. January weather was warm, sunnier in the afternoons, great food, superb location. About an hour or so East of Faro airport. Don’t forget that Spain is +1 hour ahead of Portugese time.

A great place for golf, especially ladies and couples.

This is my 4th trip to this hotel for a weeks golf. The hotel is very clean and tidy. The staff are mostly friendly and helpful. Dissappinting this time with only one-night entertainment for our 7 nights stay. This will make me think twice before we book again as there isn't anything else to do.

Double room with veranda over looking the first tee and outdoor pool, all excellent but missed having tea and coffee.

Food was fantastic, but a few issues with the room - a lot of mould in the shower, the extractor in the toilet didn't work at all, and the air conditioning wasn't working.

I was really impressed with this facility, it has all you need for a fantastic stay. If you want to play golf or just relax it is superb. The staff were all brilliant, very helpful and polite, and the food was top class and plentiful. Highly recommended.

Excellent no problems encountered

This booking was described as semi all-inclusive by YourGolfTravel; when asked to clarify prior to holiday booking, was advised that drinks after 12pm were not included. This was incorrect, and very disappointing. Lunch was not included (which affected us mostly on arrival day) and drinks were from 5pm - 12am

Second stay this year, cannot fault the hotel or staff

We were really happy with everything about this hotel and resort. Though fully booked it never felt crowded and everything worked very smoothly. Staff and all facilities were excellent and we loved the walks as well as the golf.

Enjoyable stay meals could have been more varied with perhaps an Indian, Oriental Spanish and UK theme night. Need to take more care when cooking meats and chicken as some were not cooked through. Chefs cooking these meats were under pressure because of demand. Semi all inclusive package was Ok but can't see the point of having 200ml glasses of beer and using same glasses as Baileys. People will still drink the same amount. One of my beers tasted of custard because it wasn't washed properly. Rooms good size and beds really comfortable

My experience of this hotel was spoilt by the attitude of some staff (not all), poor beer and the petty way that the semi all inclusive was handled. Before 5pm you have to pay. When you pay for a beer it’s a large 500ml glass at €6.50 which is not great. When the all inclusive starts beer is then served in much smaller glasses and they won’t take an order for another one until the one you have is empty. It really is quite pathetic. The fun police were out in force by the pool. No throwing a sponge ball around in the water. Again pathetic attitude. So a great location and venue which has the potential to be outstanding spoilt to a certain degree by silly rules and some bad staff attitude.

They upgraded us so we had more space and bedrooms

Rooms spacious and comfortable. Bed was good. Gym ok with selection of dumbells and all the running & cycling machines worked. Food was good with different menus every night and enough choice to suit the menu mood or diet requirement. Would not hesitate to go back

there were clearly not enough staff members at the poolside bar. On one occasion we had to order our drinks 3 times before we finally got them, the drinks arrived 25 minutes after our first order. On another occasion at the poolside bar we were seated for 20 minutes and could not get any attention from the waiters so I went to the bar to order as other people were but the woman told me to go and sit at a table, I said we had been sitting there for a long time without any service. She then raised her voice and said that she could not serve me and she then turned around and disappeared through a door. she was very rude and totally unacceptable behaviour.

An all round excellent experience.

Very enjoyable with all our needs catered for. Spacious public areas. Good sized rooms. Efficient and pleasant staff. Excellent food and choices. Lovely pool area. Would recommend.

This was my third visit to El Rompido and I was very pleased with my third experience - I'm looking forward to the next one!

Everything met our expectations

We stayed in the apartment side of the complex which is looking very dated ( ie skirting boards peeking away, appliances in need of updating and a good “lick of paint “ needed) whereas the Hotel looks recently renovated and very nice. The evening meal was in two sittings and in buffet style and caters for large groups of hungry men who have spent the day on the golf course and then in bars - if that’s not you then I would recommend the short trip to to the village for dinner.

I have stayed and played here multiple times since 2003. Consistently good service, 2 great golf courses, good food & drinks and lovely accommodation. Perfect for the short golfing break. Nice job YGT & Team El Rompido 👍

Although we had booked rooms in the 5 star hotel. We had to stay in the 4 star apartments next to the main hotel. Still had all the use of the hotels facilities, but just not as good or as nice as the 5 star.

slightly biased as we were upgraded to apartments due to lack of available rooms in the main hotel.

Overall a great holiday. Main issue was bar areas completely understaffed, and with a party of 20+ could take 15/20 mins for a drink. Started running the bar down awell before 12. Ordered drinks each night at 11;45. Never came. When challenged, a shrug of the shoulders was all we got. Very frustrating.

The hotel is lovely, with an authentic Spanish ambiance. From the moment we arrived the staff were welcoming and friendly, always happy to help. All areas of the hotel have a very relaxed vibe. The food was excellent with good variety each day and always fresh and beautifully cooked.

Excellent hotel, already booked next trip

The Hotel is very convenient just a very short to the Golf Club House and for two golf course situated in nice surroundings. The main restaurant has a a number of food serving outlets which can get congested when the Hotel is full. The reception area is large and spacious with an adjacent bar. Bedrooms were large with a small balcony, not all with the best of views. The staff serviced the rooms daily to a good standard. Although a mini bar was in situ it was not stocked.

Lovely Hotel and great staff. Chef went above and beyond for one of our group who had an allergy. Fantastic value for money.

Rooms excellent and staff very friendly and helpful. Restaurant is large and a bit noisy, food is served buffet style. Variety and quality was generally very good.

The whole holiday was fabulous. The food buffet was plentiful and of a good standard for breakfast and dinner. Spa was great, Pool and bar area was lovely. Good service throughout. Few small issues like door keys constantly not working but hardly worth mentioning. Location of the course being on site was excellent so no travelling back and too to courses. Unfortunately the south course was closed the day we arrived so we were unable to play it so we had 3 days golf on the North course. We were not advised if this up front which was a bit disappointing. Transfer to hotel was super but the transfer back was too early so we were at the airport over 4 hours before our flight and they would not budge as they had another collection booked we learned. So on another visit we would have to book an alternative transfer back. But on the whole the holiday was a success and we would go again. (8 ladies)

Hotel a bit dated (well used) but very acceptable.rooms large comfortable . Food very good. Drinks prices very reasonable bit of entertainment at night was nice But would have liked to have been pre informed that it is a cashless hotel Card only they say credit card but debit and pre loaded cards ok . Would definitely re visit .

Very comfortable clean

We couldn’t fault the whole experience we had at El Rompido. Accommodation, food, golf, organisation and staff were all five star. The sun shone too making it a wonderful week.

We arrived very late and were greated by reception asking us if we would move to the apartments next door as the hotel was full. In the end this was beneficial to us as although 2 ladies sharing an apartment we had separate bedrooms and bathrooms. Plus they threw in the semi inclusive deal. The staff were very attentive and food as good as ever.

Hotel was clean the staff were very helpful and good variety of food. You had to pay extra for use of gym which I thought would be included.

My 4th trip to this resort. Staff all very friendly, Pepi our waiter in the restaurant was always smiling and very helpful. Only thing I would like tea and coffee in the room.

The hotel was lovely but too big a resort for our needs. Staff were very good. The food quality was good but again the restaurant was huge with to many people

Excellent evening buffet and breakfast with a varied selection of food. The service is very good. Covid restrictions applied through the hotel but this was less intrusive than I thought it would be. The rooms are spacious and warm with private balconies. You can exit down the fire exit to get to the course rather than coming back into reception.

We love this hotel, though were a bit disappointed to have a room away from the pool, which meant there was no sun in the morning or afternoon. The buffet is great and food regularly replenished throughout breakfast and dinner service (cooked to order omelettes and grilled meats available thus no festering for hours. Clientelle is certainly in the 55+ age group but they know how to have fun! Predominantly French, German, Danish, Dutch guests all well behaved. Brits definitely in the minority. Semi inclusive not vfm unless you are a BIG drinker of alcohol and also be aware that the Clubhouse won’t let you bill to your room, (cash or card only) and not included in semi inclusive. House wines and cheap spirits only for semi inc (Cava is excellent as is the red). Bar in the hotel doesn’t open until 6pm (though was earlier on a couple of days). Housekeeping in rooms very good. We’ll definitely be going for our fourth time!!

As someone working in the hotel industry, they need to work on their customer service, it can be a little surly. Food is OK but only buffet. No Al a carte which is not five star. Double bed was two singles pushed together with two single mattresses and separate sheets and duvets. Again a bit lazy for five star.

Friendly hotel and food very good albeit not as hot as one would like. North course bunkers need attention as do the tee boxes other than that challenging. South course pretty and not so challenging. Disappointed because of Covid there wasn’t any evening entertainment.

this was our 8th trip to el rompido we will be returning again very shortly the hotel meets our expectations for our golfing holiday

Stayed in one of the apartment and this was excellent. Food was generally good - although some of the freshly cooked meat was not good.

A very pleasant hotel with excellent practice golf facilities close to hand. All in all this was a place that would be reconsidered again in the future.

Great place for a golf break with a group of 8 members from Woodford Golf Club. All enjoyed their stay and will return again. Transport provided from airport to hotel was excellent, as was all the facilities.

Excellent Hotel

This is my second visit to El Rompido, it is clean, comfortable, the staff are wonderful and the food is delicious.

The bedrooms were very clean, spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The food in the restaurant was good, varied and plentiful. Both bars catered for all of our needs and twice a duo was on the Son Saura bar at night and they played well to our gallery and we had fun! All the staff in the hotel were so helpful and they all appeared to be happy in their work. We used the Spa after golf which was very therapeutic. It was extremely clean and we had to wear a hat which helps with the cleanliness.

Our second visit here, both within this year for one week. The hotel common areas are spacious, calming and elegant. The staff are all very friendly and efficient whether in the hotel or golf club. Outside areas around the pool are excellent and a small supermarket next to the apartment blocks alongside the hotel is very handy. The restaurant for buffet breakfasts and dinners is great and efficiently organised with an excellent choice and variation of food. The bars are welcoming and often lively, but never rowdy, as this hotel in the golfing season attracts cultured and well mannered individuals. We definitely will go back.

Very nice resort with good facilities with one exception - no tea/coffee making facility in the room. Resort very busy and consequently bars and in particular buffet struggled to cope on occasion. Supermarket on site useful for purchasing bits and pieces

The hotel ticks all the boxes for a superb week. The accommodation, staff, food and value were all excellent. There was entertainment most nights, it is a wonderful location for a golf week.

On arrival we were given the choice of up graded hotel rooms or self catering apartment across the road , which meant own ensuite rooms with kitchenette and lounge area , we chose the apartments but still had all our food in the main restaurant . The 2nd upgrade was unexpected , upgraded to semi all inclusive , FANTASTIC .

Only one concern, after first week the restaurant in the morning changed its opening times from 07:00 to 07:30, we had early tee times each day at 08:00 which meant we would be rushing our breakfast especially if we were playing the north course, after a few golfers complained the tee time was reverted back to 07:00 but the hot breakfast food weren’t available till 07:30.

Excellent accommodation, very clean & comfortable, food was high quality with good choice. Pool area was spotless with more than adequate sunbeds, although this was outside of main holiday period ( mid June). Overall a very enjoyable experience.

Needs another restaurant

Had a great time,12 of us away for 7days and not a single complaint. Hotel, staff, and food and drink unbeatable, definitely will go back

An excellent location in a resort geared to golf groups of all sizes and all genders. Rooms are a good size with most having views of pool area. Restaurant food and choice is fine with excellent breakfasts. You can purchase and make up your own rolls for the course for just €2.!! Practice and clubhouse facilities very good.

Traveled with a group of 18,hotel staff could not do enough for all of us. Some including myself upgraded to 2 room appartments well worth the extra for own room. Both courses very well maintained absolute quality golf. No complaints for 18 of us. Will be going back.

Very spacious comfortable and calming hotel. The free room upgrade was great. The fellow guests were mostly northern european with a number of large groups (women mostly). The buffet dinner each evening offered different dishes each time with variety and quality. Breakfasts were great with many usual options. The staff everywhere were very attentive, pleasant and efficient. Thoroughly recommend this hotel.

The Precise Resort in El Rompido is advertised as 5 star accommodation, however, it is at best a 4 star. The staff are pleasant and the hotel is clean, but, the bedrooms and bathrooms are in need of an update. The buffet area in the dining room, for breakfast and evening meal, is inadequate for the amount of people, it has a very limited choice and frequently runs out with slow replenishment. The hotel also had an unusual policy of selling fruit at breakfast, i.e. bananas, apples, oranges etc. Several areas outside were being made ready for the ‘busy time’, ie, the decking and outside swimming pool, which we were told started in April. The indoor swimming pool incurred a cost of €3 for a ‘swimming hat and towel’. When you have already paid for the hotel, the purchase of fruit and extra charges for the pool, were slightly annoying. The weather was above average for our trip, however, there was no air conditioning, the reception staff stated that only the heating had been connected! The two golf courses were in very good condition and compliments to the green keepers.

Very comfortable room and good housekeeping. Staff are pleasant and helpful. It is a small hotel with one bar and a restaurant. The food is good but choice is limited. Overall it was a good experience and we will return there for more golf.

Not quite as good as previous years. Changes to the bar/restaurant drinks policy was disappointing.

Similar to North course, a few challenging holes. Good to have toilets on the course and a buggy selling food and drink

Some of the holes were challenging and some quite long, but we coped well despite the heat at the end of the day.

In my opinion this is the better of the 2 courses. It also suffers a bit of wild boar damage but not as much as the North. Greens are good and there are some really quirky holes. The 10th for example features a 90 degree dogleg. If your walking keep some energy for the trip between 17th green and 18th tee which involves a 400 yard trek across a walkway.

The course is currently being damaged by wild boar which dig up various areas every night. It also has the worst buggy path I’ve ever seen although to be fair some sections were being relaid. The greens are good but if your walking allow a good 10 min to get from the clubhouse to the first tee.

Challenging and interesting course and back 9 very tight. It was extremely wet on back 9 not sure if overwatered but almost impassable in places.

There was a lot of work on resurfacing the buggy paths so a lot of disruption with plant moving across the course

Extremely disappointing Course had been overwatered with significant and numerous water pools on fairways and semi rough Main complaint was extensive damage to fairways & course caused by wild boars apparently, digging up numerous areas. No mention of this prior to playing; no offer of a discount/refund or alternate arrangements Greens were over sanded and holes moved by Green staff during play; frustrating to say the least No buggies available either I have photos of the damage to the course

Need to play twice as quite tricky with a few blind shots

We arrived to be informed that the Greens had just been spiked the day before we arrived and pro shop basically said “the course is not worth playing” but we had no choice as no available tee times on other course until 2pm. The actual course was nice but the greens just ruined it.

Green were spiked a few weeks back so generally ok. No one wanted to play north course so very busy on south course. Tee off 9am and finished at 14:30 so 5 and half hours to get round

The course was long on some par 5 ,so check slope index to get your correct handicap which would have helped us ,a great corse

The north course was long but great to play ,the south course was more tight but still a good course .the reason we found it hard off handicaps was because we didn’t find out slope index ,which meant our handicaps would be higher

Good idea to start at 8.30 a 3 hour 50min round on the south course later start on the north 5 hour round signage needs improvement

We enjoyed it all but again you had to keep up with pace of play so no 3 minute rule for lost balls.

Once again, we found the buggy paths in poor condition. We enjoyed the different challenges on offer on this course. It was narrower, in part, with more areas of challenging brush, but perhaps fewer bunkers than the North Course.

Initial confusion when collecting buggies and trolleys as staff told us we had paid for 5 buggies in total. We were able to change this to 4 buggies and two trolleys. The course is set amongst beautiful trees and nature reserve. Very little building around, which makes this a relaxing place to be, and play. Generally, the course is in good condition, lovely open fairways with many strategically placed bunkers. However, most of the bunkers had very little sand in them, requiring us to remove our balls, rather than play them. This was improved later in the week. We also found the buggy paths to be in poor condition.

As per the North course, the greens were the best I have ever played on. However, as a result of torrential rain over the previous month, most of the bunkers were almost washed away.

Great course with small greens on some holes. Very water logged more so than the South. Made the best of it what we could since playing was wet, wet, wet! Would like to play in the dry at some point.

A real tester at any level. Unfortunately for my group it had been raining there a lot. The fairways were flooded-1st and second shots were gone disappearing under the water level- Bunkers were compact sand so 50/50 chance of hitting the greens. We made the best of it. Going to blame this to an act of God. Course set out nicely. Would like to play there when its dried out.

Interesting course, drier and less hilly than the north.

Very interesting course. It was very wet making the buggy difficult. The long walk to and from the start/end of the course and long walks between some of the tees make it difficult to not use a buggy.

Great course with front nine a good lead in to a much more challenging back nine. But overall a great 18 holes of golf

Difficult bunkers

The north course had a lot of walking between green to tee and the whole course itself was less interesting in my opinion than the South. To give it its due the greens were very true and quick although several of them had severe undulations in them which meant that the average golfer would 3 putt almost every green. I didn't mind this but it rendered some of the greens almost impossible to putt on and this was in February so I would hate to think what it would be like in the height of summer. You definitely needed to buggy on this course and unfortunately the speed of play was horrendous and we took just over 5 hours for our 4 ball. We were put behind two lots of two balls which made no sense to me as I've always played golf where 2 and 4 balls go off the different 9’s so they wouldn't ever meet.

The South course in my opinion was the superior of the two with its tree lined fairways demanding you hit accurate tee shots. There was a nice variation in hole length and the par threes were particularly good. I enjoyed the loop of holes around the marshland area with its picturesque views and plentiful wildlife on offer.

A great course in a stunning location. Some tricky holes which need thinking about. Greens quick but true, great fun!

Love this course. Greens fast but not ridiculously so. Got rather slow at the end of our second round ( a 4 ball who were out for the day, 2 women who could not stop talking) followed by 5 two balls who couldn’t go through. As a result we skipped the final 3 holes.

Easier (a relative term for 20+ handicapper) than the North course. My only criticism would be the lack of available refreshments on the course.

The North course is more difficult and had a couple of temporary tees. The greens were in excellent condition. It's a tough walking course and a buggy is definitely recommended.

Needed a cart very hilly. Uninteresting course poor signage to next tee box . Very long distances from green to tee box. Play exceptionally slow. Course looked scruffy needed a bit of TLC

We were out early morning so pace was good but mid morning/afternoon slow. No ranger to keep eyes on pace of play! Very pretty course some tight fairways lined with trees. Great views of the nature reserve. A good variation of holes. Very enjoyable

Challenging for good to average players. Our party preferred this course to the north.

Enjoyed playing the south course a few tricky blind holes and shots. Overall the course was in good condition, one temporary par3 tee. Golf shop and caddie masters very helpful, lockers to keep clubs in and buggies ready for our tee-times…Not to far to walk to first tee for the walkers in our group…

Greens not as spongy as the North course and there are subtle contours. Good variations of hole offering challenges and course management is more key on the South than the North. Overall has opportunities to score low if you are accurate enough

Challenges are there with well placed bunkers and dogs leg holes add a different dimension. Greens were spongy but apparently it had rained a fair bit before I arrived. Greens are relatively flat and hard to trust that they are so I found I was reading breaks which would be there at home. Overall a pleasant place to play golf and the opportunity to have a low score

A good test for players of any handicap. If walking it’s a good way from the clubhouse to the first tee and back from the 18th for a well earned drink The golf course is very well organised too

A enjoyable experience for high or low handicap players in good condition for the time of year. Well signed so it was easy to find the next tee !

As they were still working on the course and replacing a ladies tee. This course should have remained closed until the work had been completed. The front nine had been well looked after during maintenance but the back nine, especially the greens were no where near as good as our visits on previous occasions.

The course had just been opened after maintenance and the greens were still covered with sand etc after hollow tining. Few people were on the course and we played two ball in 3 hours and 30 mins followed by a fourball in 4 hours.

Loved playing South course.

North course is quite long with 10 min walk there and 10 mins back from clubhouse. Greens are tricky with many convex or undulating. Hard to play to your (my) handicap on this one.

A buggy is a must unless you’re super fit and can maintain a speedy walk on the undulating fairways. Much further from green to tees than the south course. We were unlucky enough to follow a mixed 4 ball, who took at least 10-12 shots (each) on every hole! Took forever 😫

Really enjoyable. We took a buggy on all days, but it’s flat enough to take an electric trolley. Would recommend a buggy for those with knee/hip issues as this slows up the round.

We were joined on the south by an Austrian couple when we arrived on the tee which was not a problem and we had a good round with them. Some interesting holes on this course.

This course is a challenge for the average golfer but we enjoyed it, the wife even birdied the par 3 tough 16th! One temporary green but the rest were great. Although our first 18 holes on this course were quick when we played it on the third day it took 5 hours 20 minutes to complete.

Bunkers in very poor condition. Course Marshall’s completely ineffective. Academy golfers mixed in with regular golf tee times which contributes to slow play.

A little prettier than than the North, but still a good challenge, and that bridge crossing from the 17th green to the 18th tee will be long remembered.

Major maintenance to almost greens, greens unplayable, practice putting green out of use for entire week as was the chipping area. shameful of Your Gokf Travel sending clients to course when planned maintenance was happening. One month on Your Golf Teavel gave still not responded fully to complaint

This was Beauty and it was a much easier course and a very pleasant journey

Described to us as Beauty and the Beast. It was a beast, but an enjoyable one all the same. Maybe a warning that it was a long walk to the first tee from the pro shop. First time we did arrive breathless.

There was a lot of bald areas on the course and if you went into the trees then there was gravel so we decided to take a free drop back onto the fairway. Same rule for everyone. Other players did not repair pitch marks on the greens so that was a nightmare.

Better condition than the North course and definitely harder with a couple of very tough holes. We went out in the first 3 tee slots on our last day. First group took 3.5 hrs second and third groups 4 hours.

Same story as all resort courses. Lots of people in buggies (we were) but also lots of people walking. It took us 4.5 hours to play which is just about ok. North was a better layout than South but scruffy in places. Lots of bare lies around. Greens were good.

Again the back 9 holes were a lot tighter and a bit more challenging. The par 5 12th some lady or older gents golfers would not be able to clear the scrub with there drive.

Not easy but not too hard. If you hit the fairway you were good and they are generous enough for a high handicap to cope. Greens were good condition with some interesting contours. Toilets and drinking water were available around the course.

A lovely and challenging course. Narrow fairways and plentiful bunkers with a few water hazards. No rough to speak off but hundreds of trees, some strategically left in the middle of the fairway. Really enjoyed playing here.

Played this course twice whilst we were there and it's the best out of the two. Very good condition but it did take five hours to get round.

A good all round challenging course with some tough holes and not as flat as the South course. Beware of the 20 minute walk to the first tee though! There are insufficient buggys so if any of your party require one it is ESSENTIAL that you book beforehand.

We enjoyed the variety of challenges on the South Course. It was very manageable for my group (all of us very average club golfers), but certainly not easy or boring. The pace of play was good and we never felt hassled or held up. The greens were slow but we knew that in advance as they were being hollow cored and sanded. The only slight criticism is that most tees were uneven

Pleasant playing partners, an enjoyable round of golf in reasonable conditions for holiday golf, with plenty of water to keep you concentrating.

The weather was wonderful, our playing partners on the day were friendly sociable with one single figure H/C golfer. The greens were appalling, newly hollow tined and covered in a harsh rough fertiliser, which made putting impossible. We agreed as a fourball that the course should not have been in play.

Course had only just been reopened after having been closed for a few weeks so greens were really poor. The fairways were OK but putting was a bit 'hit and hope' They were still working on it so I'm sure they will improve quite quickly.

On the whole a good course. Not too difficult for the average player. Wide fairways with strategically placed bunkers. Greens a bit slow. Not very well signposted to next tee which occasionally wasted time.

For our visit the greens had just been plugged and sanded so were pretty poor. I’m sure outside the maintenance period they would be great. Our travel agent had warned us of the work but we still chose to play for the experience of the North Course. Fairways and bunkers were excellent.

We were told the buggies had to stay on the path so there was a lot of running back and too for club selection so the 1st day took 5 hours but after that we took buggies on the fairways as we saw buggies tracks and got it down to the expected time of 4hours 20mins. You need a buggy as it would be a long walk. The greens were fast and took time to get right but made it more interesting. The North course is very much like an English course rather than the over manicured ones at say La Manga but were lovely but still had the long shallow bunkers you expect overseas. Again all enjoyed it although would have liked to have played both courses. Pro shop great and caddie store is great and you can leave your clubs in a locker for 6€ pp for the week and there are facilities to wash your clubs and the staff put your clubs away.

What a back nine, the course far exceeded my expectations in all aspects, the whole course is excellent but the back 9 is truly memorable. Greens superb.

Great course, superb condition, was able to play it off the blacks and it's a good test. Some superb holes out there and amazing views.

Although the course index says this is easier than the South course, this is tighter, especially 10 onwards. The 16th par 3 is a nightmare!!!

The first half is relatively easy. From 9 onwards you need to plot yourself around the course otherwise you could end in the marsh! The views on a dry day are to die for.

Course seemed better looked after than the north Course. Out of the 2 this had the better lay out some tight holes had to think your way round. But overall very nice place to play golf.

after much rain proir to are arrival the green keeping staff continually work on it found it to be in good condition the amount of use it is played

Very hard from the white tees. Expect to be at least six over your playing handicap. If not you need a cut.

The south course is easier than the north but tricky all the same particularly the opening hole which requires a precise drive down the fairway before it turns sharp right to the green. It’s all water on the right so go for the green at your peril. The greens are slick and I’m good condition for the time of year. The bunkers were poor but if you rake them and give yourself a lie they are playable.

The same comments apply to the bunkers per the south course. Both courses are really enjoyable and very different considering how close they are. Be aware that the overall distance in a buggy was nearly 9 miles and first tee is about half a mile from the clubhouse. Some long walks from some greens to tees.

Wonderful design, well manicured with superfast greens. The bunkers were a disgrace for our first 3 days, but then they started repairing them (apparently totally wrecked some weeks back by storms, so they had to wait and claim repair costs through insurance). Yes, some holes were trickier than others, but thoroughly enjoyable. Toilet facilities not well maintained. Slightly shorter walking than the north course.

All the bunkers had been storm damaged and unplayable. We found out this happened several weeks ago and there is a dispute with insurance company over payment. This should not be left to affect golfers.

An interesting course with a mix of good holes and some average; one silly hole where anything from 5-9 iron off the tee was requiring the second shot to be between a hybrid/wood or longish iron dependant on your distance you hit.

Great course with the exception of the 10th, strange hole to get a position for your second shot in!

Nice to play a course in great condition at this time of year when many courses back home are closed, some of our group liked this course the best.

A plotters course used everything from a 8 iron to a driver off the tees for the par 4s, very enjoyable apart for the slowness off the round - painful as a two ball and we walked. Also what a shame people no longer like to rake bunkers! Greens were great. Would return at this time of year.

Both great courses the south being a little easier than the north and the condition of both courses were very good even though the recent rain had washed all the sand out of the bunkers the green staff were working very hard to replace it with new sand.

I tend to find the north course a little more demanding than the south but overall condition very good.

The fairways can be tighter on the South Course and at times you need to be accurate, or your ball will go into the wetland. I found the greens to be more accurate which helped my game. Another good course.

Although the fairways were not challenging, the greens were very quick and the undulations were difficult. Great course.

We enjoyed this course both times we played it. 1st day was a very long round as a group of 2 x 4 balls were playing a "colour scramble"!! They were hitting off all of the tee beds in turn! Even the ladies had to play of the black and white competition tees and of course they would be in difficulties off them both! Was a good hit off the red tees! 2nd day was about 4 hours and much more enjoyable. A picturesque course in very good condition.

If you are a 4 ball or an older person, unless you are a fitness fanatic I would suggest a biggie to ride on! It is at least half a mile to the 1st tee from the clubhouse and many of the holes on this course are a long walk from green to next tee. 4.5 hour round is normal. We were 2 x 4 balls behind a similar number with a single man in a buggie behind us. 5.5 hours and the man behind was not nice about his wait!! The course itself was challenging but enjoyable and the greens were in excellent condition.

Slightly tighter and more difficult in general than the North course. There were more umbrella pines to cope with but very enjoyable. Again greens are very good and fairly quick. The course is not hilly and straddles a marsh with lots of wildlife and views of the marina. As usual and regrettably pace of play was slow but failed to spoil the eperience.

Delightful and interesting course with mostly wide fairways in pleasant surroundings. There’s quite a hike to the first tee from the clubhouse and back from the eighteenth green. The greens were very good and quite fast with a couple of “strangely” placed holes. The pace of play was very slow however and no marshalling to be seen.

Easier and a bit more forgiving than the South course, but still very tough going. The more I do as course management is again key, keeping the ball in play and the right side of the fairway to approach the green.

As a 21 handicap player, I found the going tough but very playable. Some club selections would be different next time. Keeping the ball in play and not trying to hit big shots is probably the best strategy for higher handicap players as it is so easy to get into trouble with anything slightly off line. Some great memorable holes. The par threes were very long and hard to reach.

Ditto the South course. The greens had been sanded and the tee areas were in poor condition but a challenging course with some good holes. Quite a long walk between some of the holes.

A challenging course spoilt by five hour plus rounds due to inexperienced golfers being allowed to play it.

The North course is more open but still a great challenge. It is also long ,in great condition with large greens and again requiring a great range of shots.

The South course is slightly more difficult as it is more tree lined. It has 18 great golf holes.At 6500 yds it requires many good golf shots .As we had early tee times we completed the course in 4.15 hours.

Another great golf challenge untidy tees but a busy course, greens a bit bobbly in places. But would recommend any golfer to play ElRompido.

As per my comments for south course but this is a little more feature full more undulating , equally has good as the South just have to travel about 10min by buggy or 20min ish walk from club house . ALL TEE TIMES FOR THE DAY ARE PUBLISHED ON THE 1ST TEE ON BOTH COURSES ! FRESH DRINKING WATER BUTTS ARE PLACED AROUND BOTH COURSES SO PLENTY OF COOL WATER IS AVAILABLE !!

We were expecting 4.5hr rounds so no big deal when we were finishing around that kind of time frame ! course was being maintained as part of end of season prep , greens sanded etc , you would not know if the signs weren't in place saying so ! Top tip play the course has you see it and you wont go far wrong ! the green stick and will hold a well struck long iron , hit away with confidence !

Played 5 rounds, i was disappointed that we were limited to playing the south course.quite a few of the long holes have bunkers in front of the greens instead of at either side which meant a good straight shot at the green invariably finished in the sand. The greens had recently been hollow tined & sanded which made them very slow. The practice facilities were excellent, the large practise green was the best green I have ever putted on quick & true. I was told the north course greens were the same as the practice green. The clubhouse staff were very helpful & accommodating. Overall a very enjoyable golf holiday. Would definitely return with the provision some of the rounds were place on the north course

Played north course twice, all grand

Enjoyed the golf, held up one day by slow play up ahead, played South course 3 times, no complaints

Nice holes but a bit of a slog compared with South course. The ladies in our group did not want to play our second round on the North, so we had another day off. With temperatures up to 30 degrees it was no real hardship.

Three rounds on the South course and a good test for all standards. Some holes could be regarded as a bit quirky but you will enjoy it. Buggy required and prebook but at €39 they are a bit pricey. Greens a bit slow but need to be protected from the sun.

Borh Quality courses.

The more challenging course with water, marshland and/or trees to be avoided off the tee on most holes, particularly the back nine. Accuracy and course management were paramount but very enjoyable. The condition of the whole course was excellent with great greens which were generally flatter than the north course. The tee setup again with blue beteween yellow and red for oldies was welcome and more enjoyable. I’d suggest a buggy on this course as there was considerable distance to the first tee and often from greens to next tee.

A quite open and forgiving course off the tee with many interesting holes. An occassional hole where marsh and/or trees were to be avoided with the tee shot. The greens were excellent - speedy and true. The condition of tees fairways etc. also excellent. The greens were tricky with many slopes and upturned saucers here and there. Very friendly and helpful staff in shop and buggymasters/bag store and on course. The teeing setup was great with black, white, yellow tees then blue before red ones. Blues for oldies like me and ladies 0-10 handicap.

I preferred the south course, the views across the Natural Parkland is picturesque. Like the north course, you will loose your ball if you fail to keep it on the fairway. Greens and condition of the course was very good.

The north course is not as picturesque as the south, however it can be challenging if the ball is not placed accurately. The condition on both courses is excellent and the greens are in very good condition.

Slightly more difficult than the South course but again a nice layout with good greens and views. Overall both course are a fair test of a golfers abilities and enjoyable experience.

Good variety of holes and not too long with great views over the nature reserve. Very busy course but still managed to get round in 4 hours.

Same comments as I made about the North course.

We enjoyed the course and the greens were perfect. The teeing area was a bit worn and perhaps the markers could have been moved more frequently. The golf buggies needed some attention. Twice we ran out of battery power and we noticed that most buggies had broken windscreens.

Playing off the white stakes both courses were a good test of golf .

South course was very well presented.Fairly tight in places and proved to be quite a challenge.Some very interestig holes with a good variety of shots required.The views were lovely and the whole experience was very enjoyable.
