In the heart of the West Midland’s glorious countryside awaits the Forest of Arden, a flagship venue in the UK.
This awesome golf resort is one of the most highly regarded in the country, thanks in large part to the two outstanding championship golf courses. Both courses, the Arden and Aylesford, were designed by the legendary Donald Steel, with the Arden being the headline course, having hosted the European Senior Masters three times.
This fantastic golf destination is found less than 30-minutes from Birmingham city centre, ideal for golfers throughout the UK, yet is surrounded by some 10,000 acres of countryside. The 4-star hotel maintains a high standard, with excellent customer service and facilities throughout. The luxurious Cedarwood Spa is a highlight, as is the delightful Fairway Bar & Grill.

The Championship Arden Course at the Forest of Arden Golf Club is one of the country's most established tournament layouts, having hosted the cream of the European Tour for the British Masters from 1997-1999 and in 2003, and the English Open between 1993-1997, from 2000-2002 and again in 2020 where the event changed its name to the Hero Open.
Scoring was often good during these professional events with low scoring totals achieved by Ian Woosnam (1993) and Per-Ulrik Johansson (1997) with 4-round scores of -19. Champions at Forest of Arden also include Colin Montgomerie (1994) and Darren Clarke (2000 & 2002) and Sam Horsfield in 2020 with an overall score of -18.
This is indicative of the quality of the course, which has some truly distinctive holes, especially the 18th, an exacting par-3. The layout suits golfers of all abilities and when stretched to its fullest, the Arden will measure 7,213 yards, demanding the absolute best in striking in order to score well. Should you manage to find the green in regulation, the outstanding putting surfaces will give you a good chance to convert. With the quality of the course it is easy to see why so many enjoy golf breaks at The Forest of Arden each year.

The Aylesford Resort Course at the Forest of Arden Golf Club is considerably shorter than its prestigious neighbour, but the expert attention of the greenkeepers ensures that it remains in equally immaculate condition. The Aylesford may be less than 6,000 yards, but underestimate it at your peril, as there are penalties to be paid for the wayward. This charming little course adds good variety to the Forest of Arden's repertoire, and emphasises the quality of a golf break at the resort.

In addition, the Forest of Arden Golf Club is home to a first class golf academy, where visitors can seek the guidance of one of the resident PGA professionals.
Alongside the two golf courses there is a 16 bay floodlit driving range with an extensive short game and bunker area including a separate putting green.
Although the golf courses may be the star turn at the Forest of Arden, the superb hotel should not be underestimated. With 214 rooms and unparalleled facilities and service, your golf holiday here will undoubtedly be a memorable one.
Despite being within a short distance of Birmingham, the NEC and the International Airport, the hotel is set amidst no less than 10,000 acres of Warwickshire's finest countryside. The spacious guest rooms are luxurious, as is expected from a 4-star hotel, and are furnished and decorated in a tasteful, contemporary style.
Forest of Arden boasts two top-notch dining options for guests. The renowned Fairway Bar & Grill is an excellent dinner choice, featuring exquisite international cuisine prepared with fresh locally sourced ingredients. Guests can savor a traditional afternoon tea or indulge in a full English or continental breakfast in the mornings.
Zest offers a more laid-back dining experience with a variety of light dishes and snacks available all day, ideal for enjoying before or after a round of golf. The outdoor terrace provides a lovely setting for dining or enjoying a drink, while big screens throughout the property allow guests to catch up on their favorite sports events.
The outstanding facilities make this a great choice for a leisure or spa break, while those who choose a golf break at the Forest of Arden will be rested and rejuvenated in the hotel, ready to tackle the superb courses once again.
The Cedarwood Spa centre at the Forest of Arden is a luxurious facility, offering an extensive variety of health and beauty therapy. Speciality treatments include body scrubs and wraps, facials, manicures, pedicures, massages and waxing. For the fitness-conscious, the leisure club has an excellent swimming pool, sauna, steam room and gymnasium, while there are also tennis courts, table tennis and croquet.
Forest of Arden is located 30 minutes from Birmingham City centre, just 10 minutes from both the NEC Complex and Birmingham Airport.

The course was in good condition after rain fall. Greens were a little bobbly and could have been in better condition for standard of the course. Disappointed back tees only used for 6 weeks of year. Food and bar prices were very expensive but the quality was good. Hotel room was clean and had amenities however could have had more channels on tv. Range was good and balls ok to use could be a bit bigger.

Very pleasant stay at the Forest of Arden at the end of September - wonderful weather helped and the courses were in great condition. Perhaps the only disappointments for a group of 28 was a queue / delay checking in after golf (do think of a better way of doing this please) and the split service for dinner meaning a delay for half the group despite choosing options before playing golf. Other than that the staff were great, the welcome very good and the golf fantastic.

Hotel is looking a bit tired especially the en-suite bathrooms which have some mould on the tiles. The food in the restaurant was acceptable but portions were small. The bar prices were extortionate at £7.50 for beer and £18.00 for a glass of wine.

Nice busy hotel - quality was good and staff really great. My only issue was the cost of the single room taking into account that there was only one for breakfast and evening meal and of course just one for golf (4 rounds) I just felt the surcharge was high extra £156 3 nights.

The hotel is nice to look at from the outside but dated internally. The staff are friendly enough, just not enough of them especially in the restaurant and bars. The pro shop has some great staff. The rooms do not have air conditioning but come with a small fan. They feel tired but are fine overall. The restaurant is crowded and again no air conditioning. Staff friendly but reactive rather than proactive. No one asks if you want something, or if everything is ok, you have to find someone to get what you want. Food from the buffet is limited. We chose a la carte which was very good though waited a long time for it to be served. Not sure id return. Only saving grace is the Arden golf course. Wouldn’t play Aylesford at this time

Just an overnight stay and two days golf for us. Great staff, facilities, accommodation and good food. High drinks charges and no air con on in the bar on a very hot and humid night. Our tee times of 11.00 am and 2.00pm were too late, I’d be sure to get better morning times next time.

This is the first time I have stayed since 2007 and it was sad that the place has been so run down. It looks as if they have struggled financially as the rooms haven't been modernised and the swimming pool was very tired. The food was very good and the idea of doing a carvery when you have that many people was certainly a good idea. It meant we could eat when we wanted to and didn't have to wait for service.

✓14 May 2025
Mess up with the check in which took over an hour to resolve (this issue arose from a fault from booking agent) staff seemed untrained and reluctant to help, the bar had no gas so every drink was completely flat and were just trickling out of the pumps, meaning it was taking so long to get served, the drink prices were obscene, especially for the quality and service levels, the food was a carvery which was stale and tasteless, never saw a member of staff to explain or check in with us, take drink orders etc. hotel itself was lovely and comfortable.

The hotel was very tried and unloved. Paint peeling off the walls, wooden door frames half falling of the walls. Hotel staff were very friendly but the food was very disappointing. The hotel staff were leaderless, it was obvious there was no manager/s on site and the staff were useless although very friendly. The car park was full of potholes, the whole car park was a mess. The rooms were of a good standard but a little tired. The food was a very good standard and the beef was a stand out on the evening meal. Found the bar to be completely understaffed like it was a few years ago when we last visited. Lots of large groups waiting ages to get their drinks. Our group of 18 had a 2:30 tee time on the Sunday and upon checking the hotel our table booked for 7:30. How is this possible when the last group didn’t tee off until 3:10 absolutely ridiculous. They told us the restaurant closed at 9. Our last group didn’t walk in until 8:30 and had an absolute rush eating their meal. There were no seats in the bar area as it was completely full so we sat at our table a little longer but were quickly moved on at just after nine as the staff said they needed to get the table ready for breakfast. We’re did they expect us to sit having a group of 18?

We didn't check-in until between 1830 & 1900 having played golf elsewhere that afternoon due to Aylesford course being closed. Team had all the paperwork ready and process was completed quickly. Rooms were nice but a bit dated - could probably do with being updated/refurbed. Didn't really use any of the facilities as our stay was so short. Bar was good but expensive (typical hotel bar); buffet dinner was good with decent range of food available; and breakfast in the morning was good.

Two rounds of golf and an overnight stay with my three sons. Played the aylesford which is blighted by it's proximity to a motorway and the noise really got in my head. We went to check in and were informed we had booked doubles when of course we had booked twins. No proper apology or explanation, three staff just huddled round a computer, communication made difficult by a noisy wedding party. Eventually they found a couple of rooms, one decent but mine sub Travelodge standard. Went back to reception, no joy. The room was next to an accommodation entrance door and the room window opened onto the main entrance to the hotel. It was 01.30 before it was quiet enough to sleep. The beds were the narrowest I've seen in a while and the room became unbearably hot with no air con in the bedrooms. Compound this with thick duvets (take the duvets out and use the covers) and a window that only opened 3", I could not have slept in the room a second night. There is a golfers bar which was very noisy. For a bit of entertainment watch the guys buying big rounds when they're told the cost. Guinness £7.50. There is no local cask beer just big brands. Highlight was dinner, a very decent carvery with excellent sirloin of beef. My sons did it justice. I would have found the Arden challenging when I was single figures but we managed a couple of birdies and it came down to the final hole. Quieter than the shorter course so overall a result. With so many holiday golfers it was very slow, mercifully the group in front let us through. Would I go back? I'd have to think about it.

We had a great stay and enjoyed the three days we were there, the on,y issue was the food onMonday night where we came to the restaurant at 8.15 to be told we had to pick food from a set menu with some food having a extra charge of £12. The food then took over 2 hours to be served the 3 courses finishing around 10.45 as nice as the staff were this puta taint on what was a great few days all the other food was great. They did waive the extra costs once we complained about the poor service.

An under par restaurant and bar lets down a nice hotel, good staff and comfortable rooms Against a context of this hotel being 90% blokes on golf packages -So First the bad bit- the main restaurant menu was pretty well the same as the spikes bar with a couple of steaks added. Why the main restaurant isn't a proper menu is odd. They offer only 4 red wines and the best one was sold out (wine never goes off so ???) It was packed and feels like a 3* In the bar they had run out of the 2 main lagers and it was only a Monday. To make up for that the staff were good (but clearly used to aplogising for senior management poor decisions) The rooms are good (no A/C) and beds very comfortable.

Rooms were OK ,but nothing special. When we arrived we were told we would be on the ground floor but have to wait untill after 3pm, as were were playing at 2 it was not going to be problem, however at 6 when we returned we were given rooms on the 1st floor and the furthers from the reception you could get.Food was ok but also not special, and the price of a bottle of white wine £41. bit step. Staff helpful and polite great .

Very disappointed having visited last year. It was very busy and only having one bar open after 10pm it was extremely uncomfortable with not room for everyone to be seated. The lack of air conditioning was very bad. On the first evening my party of 8 were allocated a table and service was fine but the second night we arrived to find we had no booking and tables had. to be rearranged to fit us in which wàs not acceptable. There seemed to be difficulty with my booking as reception couldn't trace booking for 8 at first. Also the pro shop had no pre booking for 2 buggies although they sorted this out but had there been no buggie two of my party would not have been able to play so it was unsettling at first. Also I was not informed that buggie price had been increased to £45 increased as it was £ 40 when l made booking and I feel this is excessive .informed . I will not be returning or recommending to others

We had a fabulous time at the hotel. Staff and rooms were great. Staff very friendly and accommodating except for pro shop staff who didn't make any effort to be friendly. We went in the shop and were looking for ladies attire. After 10 minutes of looking we asked the 3 members of staff (who were all heads down engrossed in their laptops etc) One staff member said they didn't stock ladies wear. The other 2 staff didn't even look up) they could have easily apologised and just had a chat with us. The shop was empty. We hired a buggy and returned the key which was just a formality. Unfriendly. They could have made an effort to be NICE.

Communal areas of the accommodation is fairly dated but the rooms are large and comfortable. The staff were average and although not too busy during our visit they seemed stretched, especially in the restaurant. The Dinner included in the package was very limited and most options required a supplement to be paid, for what was received the extra costs were extortionate as were the prices of drinks! The driving range and practice areas are ideal for the size of resort with a well stocked Pro shop.

We went as 2 couples for a 50th birthday gift for my brother. 2 golfers and 2 non golfers to use the spa facilities. On booking in at 10:30am, the non golfers were advised that they had no access till their robes as they were in the rooms, which we only available at 4pm, which meant the non golfers had to attend the spa and their treatments in their own clothing. The non golfers went to the spa and found half of the relatively small pool roped off for children swimming lessons, which were non stop throughout the day and were still ongoing at 5:30 pm when the golfers visited the spa. The steam room was open and very good, but the sauna was closed. There also appeared to be some maintenance work going on at the time. There were only about 8 beds around the pool, the majority of which were being used by parents watching their children at the swimming lessons. When we accessed our rooms at 4pm, no robes in the room. A call to reception was made to request the robes as there were more treatments booked within the hour. Those robes did not arrive, so we had to attend reception ourselves for the robes. The evening meal was fine. The food and service were good. However, the management do not appreciate the difference between a group of 12 or 24 golfers and couples visiting the restaurant for more intimate meal. There are 3 area in the restaurant. One was not used, a larger golf group in one section and the main restaurant was a mix of groups and couples. The room was noisy and it was difficult to hear conversations at our table at times. We won’t be rushing back. As an aside, I was impressed that Tom from yourgolftravel.com (who were our booking agents) phoned me on my return to enquire about our experience. That is good customer service and I will use yourgolftravel again. I have relayed my comments to him.

The hotel is a mixture; the bars and foyer are all nice but the rooms could do with a refresh. The bathrooms in particular don't look like they've been touched for many years and the sprinkler in our room was covered in cobwebs. The evening meal was a nice change to the usual golf fayre - a well stocked buffet with plenty of Indian food.

Overall impression of the hotel and facilities, good. Room is very comfortable, clean and tidy. As is always the case with this type of venue, drinks overpriced. After an initial hiccup i.e. delay in ordering drinks and food in the restaurant the staff and the service were excellent. Good selection of food for a cold breakfast, unfortunately the self service buffet hot side was generally just about warm enough.

The actual hotel was very good but there were reduced standards in the restaurant as compared with eight previous years. Menu seemed lacking in variety but that said steak was excellent. The hotel needed an update, definitely not the star rating it boasts. We had a very unpleasant experience at Dinner, Table booked at 7:45pm, we were shown to our table, but then literally left with no member of staff coming to serve us?. 30 mins later 8:15 we asked if we could order our drinks. this then took ages to arrive. we had to prompt another waiter. The food was ordered early, once we had our drinks, BUT this took absolutely ages, we asked for table water which never arrived. called out to waiter for another drink, which took forever. Positive is the young waitress & waiters were very polite & apologetic. The issue was the gentleman in suits that were standing nearby - seem to be management, that were a waste of space.... The tables around us were not cleaned/cleared after diners had left, all through the evening, left over plates and mess not cleared, which is not a pleasant dining experience. I will say the food was excellent, compliments to the chef. Breakfast was a smooth operation too. The dinner service is letting the Hotel/Marriot brand name down. I certainly will not be dining there again, I had booked in advance and mentioned that were there for a Birthday celebration, including 2 days Golf. The person who took booking noted this, so I expected a little something special to be put in place to acknowledge this, But no surprises there. did not happen. From being seated at 7:45pm, and finished dining at 10:20pm, was ridiculous. Other diners around us were exactly in the same boat, and were getting up, asking for the drinks/food/bill. Oh and the bill was incorrectly calculated. which got rectified. We have fed back to staff on checkout. making it clear the waiting staff were really good but need good management to guide them.

Really nice stay in the hotel in quite large rooms. The rooms themselves were quite comfortable and no real issues apart from it can get a little warm at night and the rooms themselves are starting to look a little tired. They are probably due an overhaul to get the rooms nice a fresh and to also update the technology in the rooms (no USB ports). The only real issue in the room was a TV that had its own mind and continually turned itself off. Apart from that though the rooms were fine. The staff were amazing. Quite friendly and only too happy to help when needed. The restaurant was fine. Steaks were cooked to perfection and the breakfast is to die for! No issues what so ever with the food. My big gripe was the driving range! There were far too many split range balls for a facility like this! In fact there shouldn't be ANY split range balls what so ever at a venue like this! Someone needs to go through their range balls and remove all the damaged and unusable golf balls! Its really quite inexcusable for this venue to have an issue like this!!!

I’m glad I was sent a request for a review, as I was actually going to email tonight regarding the stay. I’ve never actually complained before, but too many things went wrong/were bad with our stay that I feel like I have to. On the first day when we went to tee off from the aylesford course, we arrived for our tee time at 12.40pm, the man at the hut told us we were teeing off with another couple at 12.50pm, which wasn’t a problem. The other couple decided to tee off at 12.30pm, so we told them to go ahead and we would wait for our tee time and due to the space of a 20 minute gap we may aswell just play separately. The man at the hut was not happy, and complained that we weren’t going early, we tried to explain that it was a 20 min gap until a tee time so we didn’t see the problem, he was raising his voice at us and said “oh for fuck sake, do what you want then”. We honestly didn’t see the problem, as we weren’t delaying anyone and we weren’t trying to tee off later than planned. It just started the trip on the wrong note. Later in the evening when we went to go for dinner, the manager of the restaurant checked for our booking and said it weren’t on his list. I showed him the reservation in my golf travel app, and he said it wasn’t his problem, if it’s not on his list there’s nothing he can do. I went to the reception and spoke to the lady who checked us in, as she actually confirmed our reservation time with us when we were getting our room key. She went and had a word with the restaurant manager who was still being quite rude, and said he will see what he can do. He left us sat outside the restaurant for 15 mins, and only let us in when we went back up to see if he had a table. Then at 12.40am in the morning, the fire alarm went off, which is not a problem as I know these things happen. However, as we got downstairs no member of staff was giving any explanation and after 10 minutes we were told to go back to our room, no explanation or apology or anything. The fire alarm then went off again an hour and a half later at 2am, we didn’t bother to go downstairs for this one as it seemed pointless as everything was so unorganised. So we just waited to see if the alarm would stop, and it did after 5 minutes. I understand fire alarms are one of those things, but there was no explanation, apology or anything, if anything the staff seemed quite annoyed with us asking. The following morning we were booked in to tee off at 10am, after a bad nights sleep with the alarms. We went to check in at the golf shop at 9.30am and they told us our tee time had been moved to 9.40am, but no one had let us know. We rushed over to the first tee, and the same man as the day before shouted at us that we were late. We explained that our tee time was 10am on our booking, and he said we should have checked at the shop beforehand because the times are likely to change. How are we suppose to know that? So it started the second course on a bad note aswell.

I'd booked twin rooms, and we got a double bed each, which were very comfortable. I went out like a light, and woke up refreshed. The bathroom was clean as a whistle. The staff were brilliant, sorted out any problems straight away, made me feel at home. All in all - very, very happy with the hotel.

The only reason this didn’t get 5 stars is there was a total lack in staff, It took over 20 minutes to get served at the bar. They know there would be large groups of men playing golf and would want a drink after, they also ran out of most beers, I can only put that down to the supposedly lack in delivery drivers. Hotel was clean and the food was really good.

I would like to provide some feed back for our stay from 19th September to 21st September of 12 guests. We felt both courses were in good condition and enjoyed playing them. When we finished on Sunday we tried to have a drink in the golf bar to find it was closed and we had to go to the Cast Iron bar which although it seemed to have many staff members it took ages to get served. It’s also disappointing that there is no internal access and can only be accessed from going outside from the golf centre. When we went to sit outside there were no seats available. When the golf bar was open on the Tuesday after we finished golf it was only taking cash, no cards, I’ve not used cash since the start of COVID. Sent from my iPad

Nice hotel with friendly staff and good choice if food in buffet breakfast and evening meal. Never charged same price for same 2 drinks ? And £12 for a glass of wine is ridiculous! Good facilities- pool, gym and sauna. Shame no facility for drying off golf equipment or locker room for golf clubs and trolleys etc ! Overall good stay

Overall the hotel was fine. Reading previous reviews did raise questions but the general appearance and 'comfort' was actually ok. Yes it is a bit dated and a number of areas can be improved but the party of 36 that attended had no complaints. Our stay was august bank holiday, with Saturday being the busiest in the bars. Why Zest was closed early on the Saturday night was anyone's guess as there was still 20 of us in there actually having a quiet drink and general chat. The main bar, can't remember the name, was carnage on Saturday night, Sunday was fine. One of the staff behind the bar was not the most welcoming, for both nights.... Pool and spa was good, not busy during the times we used them.

Rooms were very clean and very comfortable beds. Only slight issue we had was that the shower head seems to be very low and caused some issues with the taller members of our group. Seemed to be the same in each room. Staff on reception were a great help in sorting us some taxis into Birmingham and the food for dinner was delicious. I don't think any of us expected the food to be as good as it was considering it was a buffet

Only one small gripe, the hotel had the quite clear booking wrong, booked a delux room with 2 double beds, received a double bed and a sofa bed, fair play to the duty manager, changed the room to the one that was booked, only other problem they tried to charge £25 on checkout for a room upgrade, which eventually was wavered 👍

The buffet meal we had was delicious with lots of fresh food and not too canteen style and there was plenty of it but we were first in there! The breakfast was delicious too with lots variety. Otherwise it was an overall great weekend and we will go back

Service in the bar was horrendous, they only had one waiter serving drinks, took over an hour to get a round of drinks, that was every single hour too, both nights! The golf courses were beautiful, but nowhere to buy food or drinks at a halfway hut, 2 of the hottest days of the year, no halfway hut and they didn’t even get a member of staff out selling from a buggy! I took a party of 9 ladies for a golf break. On arrival the staff were very welcoming. We were however quite upset that we as ladies were not very well supported within the pro shop, there was no ladies attire at all. When we go on these breaks the ladies quite often buy momentos etc. But we did not get as warm a welcome as we thought we should. Although the staff were very pleasant we did have to wait quite a long time for service. I know that there are some restrictions but this should not impact on guests and the hotel should by now be used to providing as good a service as before the pandemic. The gold courses were very good and a perfect location for us being only 1.5 hours from our homes.

Forest of Arden was an absolute delight from beginning to end. Having looked around at plenty of options, YGT kindly pointed our attention towards the Forest of Arden and we are very glad they did so.
We were booked in to tackle the Aylesford course on the first day which was a fantastic club standard course with plenty of tricky holes. The challenging Par 4 11th was a particular highlight for the group. After our round we nipped into the 19th hole for a couple of beers (reasonably priced) to reminisce about the shots of the day and those putts that didn’t quite make it to the hole.
There was a seamless check-in at the hotel and the rooms were of a high standard, as you would expect from a Marriott. Dinner was a buffet selection or you could order from the 3 course menu too. We chose the buffet and the food was perfectly acceptable. Breakfast was a buffet again and was fantastic as well, with a great selection including continental options, full English and an omelette station for a fresh dose of protein to tee us all up for the day ahead.
On to the Arden...
What a course, with the back nine holes through the deer park. Highlights have to be the par 3 8th over the lake and the par 3 18th which measures 202 yards into the wind and over the lake heading towards the clubhouse. This is a real championship course and obviously the pride and joy of everyone who works there.
If you’re looking for a value for money weekend golf break
with two good courses and accommodation to match, then The Forest of Arden is
definitely worth a visit.

Thanks so much for organising my booking to the Marriott Forest of Arden Hotel, Golf and Country Club.
I went with my son for 2 day break and after a 2 hour journey from the Wirral we arrived at the hotel at midday; just in time to have a spot of lunch in the Zest restaurant. After a lovely club sandwich and a latte we headed to the Aylesford course to tee off at 1.30pm.
The starter was excellent, giving us some handy local information on the course and taking a few photos for us too. The course was in excellent condition and we both enjoyed a competitive round which finished at 17:30.
Having checked into the hotel, we showered and changed and had dinner in the restaurant, following of course by a bottle of red in the bar which we settled into comfortably!
The next morning after a hearty full English we headed off to the tee on the Arden championship course which proved to be very challenging, with long par 4s & 5s and plenty of water to contend with. The greens were being maintained which meant a lot of sand on them but once you got used to the pace it was fine and they ran straight and true.
Overall it was an excellent 2 day golfing trip which we both
thoroughly enjoyed.

Forest of Arden is a great venue and the courses were in fantastic condition, particularly the greens.
The hotel rooms were also excellent, as was the food although the menu choice was a bit limited. The resort is easy to get to and the organisation throughout was very good.
The price of drinks was high but this was only a small blip
on an otherwise excellent trip.
Peter
✓13 Nov 2014
My friend and I had a great time at the Forest of Arden. Marriott really know how to train their staff so you get the feel they are enjoying your break with you rather than just serving you. A really nice touch.
The golf courses were both immaculate and the shorter Aylesford course is certainly not inferior to the Championship Arden course. There seem to be more hazards per hole on this track to combat the lack of length.
We tied this break in with a corporate day and we were delighted that Your Golf Travel were able to arrange golf on the other two days with great tee times each day. The price reflected the fact we were only paying for two rounds as well. In fact, it was not possible to tailor the package directly with the hotel.
I have travelled on trips arranged by YGT before but this is the first time I have dealt directly and I have to say you guys were superb, keeping me informed throughout the process.
I’ll definitely come back to YGT next time and would
certainly recommend Forest of Arden to other golfers.

We had a great time thanks on our golf break to Forest of Arden, which was expertly arranged by yourgolftravel.com.
I have to say that the Forest of Arden’s customer service was exemplary and they really took good care of us. I had an issue with my golf shoe (the sole was flapping around) and the receptionist obtained some glue for me from the maintenance area so that I didn’t have to go and buy a new pair. I’m not sure you’d get that type of honest service at other resorts and it was especially appreciated considering I already have two more pairs at home!
The golf course as always was challenging and with the greens having been recently hollow-tined, was difficult. The deer as ever were a sight to see, especially with their young.
I have no complaints at all and it was really nice to see some good old fashioned customer service; 10 out of 10 for the resort.
I will be organising next year’s trip so of course will
be in touch with YGT, with potential dates and approximate numbers when I know
what’s going on.

Many thanks for arranging the golf package at Marriott Forest of Arden. We were very impressed by the venue, both in terms of the hotel, and the courses. The hotel staff were very welcoming and sorted out great rooms for our group. Nothing was too much trouble.
The Aylesford Course was a good warm up round before we played the far more testing Arden course.
Unfortunately a deluge of biblical proportions halfway through our round meant we had to abandon the course, but the staff in the clubhouse had no problems in fitting us back in to finish the game the next day.
Aside from the golf, we enjoyed the fitness centre, the spa and, of course, the bars! The quality of the dining was also excellent, given the cost of the package.
The venue is a big conference centre, so the hotel bar can get crowded. We even had a surprise visitor, when coming downstairs for our afternoon round we spotted the familiar face of HRH The Duke of York being greeted by the hotel management. It turned out he was not coming to play a quick 18 but to address a conference of newspaper editors.
Overall, the venue and organisation was first class, and
fantastic value for money.

Our trip to Forest of Arden was very good and would highly recommend it to other golfers.
The Arden Course was in excellent condition and the layout was great. If you can shape the ball well, you’ll definitely have an advantage. It’s a proper test of golf with its large and very fast greens. Just a pity my golf wasn't up to it! The Aylesford Course was also in excellent condition but the layout wasn’t quite as entertaining as the Arden Course. It’s a bit easier and has a “new” feel to it.
The clubhouse was more like a health club bar but it was busy so the atmosphere was good and in terms if prices, it’s pretty much what you expect from a resort like this.
Service throughout the resort is good and the staff are really helpful. While the food wasn’t amazing, it certainly did the job.
The resort is really easy to find and I’d imagine its central location would be convenient for most in the UK.
I’d give
the break 8/10 as it was really good value for money and would definitely recommend
YGT to others looking to book a similar break.

Thanks to Your Golf Travel for helping us organise our annual trip to the Forest of Arden.
What a superb venue! The hotel is of outstanding quality; well organised with smooth, professional service.
The golf courses are also superb with many in our party saying the Arden Course was the best course they had ever played. Imagine our trepidation when other guests in the hotel were telling us that the greens on the Aylesford were even quicker than those on the Arden!
The clubhouse was very efficient and our only gripe would be the excessive costs for a sarnie or light snack.
The hotel meals were superb as were the rooms; opulent was
just one remark from a member of the group. The whole place is very well run and we’d have to give the venue a 9 out of 10.

Thanks Your Golf Travel for our recent trip to Forest of Arden. It was very good and the weather was fair which was a bonus!
The Aylesford course was good but not a world beater. A fair test of golf though.
The Arden course on the other hand was in great condition and was a fine test of golf. The starter was very helpful especially with moving our tee time around a bit and his attitude reflected that of most staff members at the resort.
I thought clubhouse prices were a bit steep which was a shame and the bar staff were slow to serve.
The rooms in the hotel though, were first class.
For what we paid I’d have to say it was fantastic value for money and YGT did us proud so we’ll definitely be using you guys for our next trip.

I organised a party of 12 to spend a weekend enjoying the facilities at Forest of Arden and truth be told, we couldn’t have asked for a better place to accommodate a group of twenty-something enthusiastic golfers.
The layout of the hotel and golf facilities is great and the standard of the rooms, service and food in the hotel is superb! We certainly took full advantage of the all-you-can-eat buffet!
The Aylesford course offers a forgiving 18 holes and serves as a nice warm-up to the Arden course. Once you step onto the Arden course it is a completely different feel and once you hit the turn it is truly magnificent.
A member of our group described the back nine as the nicest
9 holes of golf he has ever played which is high praise indeed...even in
October! The pristine fairways and deer running around all over the place it is
truly stunning and the deal we booked through yourgolftravel was an
absolute bargain! Thanks guys!

Overall we had a really lovely stay at the Forest of Arden. All the guys were really pleased with both courses, especially the Arden course, and they said there was a lot of wildlife around including deer which they thought was brilliant!
We (the girls) thought the gym and spa facilities were brilliant; probably the best we've experienced whilst on such a break so big thumbs up there!!
The hotel was really lovely and the staff were brilliant! So
in all a lovely stay.

A five hour plus round at this course is unacceptable. We had two groups of four in front of us who were very slow. All the players would look for one ball for longer than 5 minutes on every par 3. One of the guys in the two ball behind us actually works for the club and he was not happy and eventually walked off after nine holes. He said marshals should have been on the course to prevent slow play but we didn't see any. When we got to the tenth tee we say him complaining to one of his colleagues, however we still didn't see any marshals on the back nine. and the slow play continued. We were there to celebrate our friends 60th and everyone one us agreed that this ruined our day. None of us will return to this course in the future
David
✓5 Oct 2025
A tighter, shorter course than the Arden and not up to the same aesthetic standard but eminently playable. Some bunkers were not as well maintained as on the Arden course. Quite acceptable for a second course and value for money. Suitable for seniors.
David
✓5 Oct 2025
Fantastic course in great condition - a group of senior golfers played with first tee time at 12:00 behind a stacked course. The fairways are generous, the rough not too punishing, bunkers in excellent shape and greens and tees very good. It was a 5 hour round which we anticipated from previous reviews despite all our groups keeping up with the groups in front. All our players would come back to play again.
Barry
✓1 Oct 2025
No better than our local pay and play. Again no hydration points. Very scruffy.
Barry
✓1 Oct 2025
Round exceptionally slow at 5hrs 20 mins. The group behind us walked off at hole 13. They complained and only then was a Marshall sent out to speed up play. There were no hydration stations and because we were slow the half way hut was closed. We had travelled a long way to play and all in need of refreshments. When we finished the pro shop was closed and we didn’t know where to leave the electric trolleys we hired. There is nowhere to store your clubs. Following day we complained about speed of play and were told they didn’t have enough staff to marshal both courses🧐The delay meant we had to move our restaurant booking and didn’t eat until 9.00pm. We had been travelling since 8.00am. We should have been given a prebooking form for our dinner by the proshop and were not which resulted in further delay.

This a nice course. But for me the sister course is not good enough, especially if the package is 2 x Aylesford, 1 x Arden.
Guy
✓18 Sep 2025
This a short course, which makes for bunching of playing groups, causing agitation about perceived slow play. We were unlucky to play it in very wet conditions. But the forecast was known and the green staff could have done a better job by avoiding placing the pins on the low points of the greens. The bunkers were waterlogged and there were pools of water in many of them with the surface a thick viscous cement. Not really possible to play from.
John

✓13 Sep 2025
Some great holes, especially the water-hazard-guarded ones. Always great to be up close to the deer. Bunkers were well maintained and tee boxes were good. Good maintenance of course by green keeping staff witnessed as we played. No pin sheet again though and occasional patches on greens. A great course nonetheless.
Wayne
✓13 Sep 2025
We were one of only a few groups playing the course on Monday, which made for a very relaxed round. Greens had some bare patches, but were receptive to a high ball. No pin sheet and no distance-indicating flags meant it was guesswork when hitting into greens, which was not ideal
Keith

Gary
✓6 Sep 2025
This course we found was challenging in a good way as there are a few holes that you have to carry over water and the 18th was a great challenge as anyone who’s played it will understand! The only comment I would say is that the Arden course my partner who’s a female player and can hit the ball over 130 yards found most par fours unreachable in two shots and the 8th was one that she felt most lady players would struggle to get over unless you are a low handicapper! But overall she enjoyed both courses!
Gary

Jewel in the crown!!!. Excellent course that had been watered well over the dry spell and was in top condition. Visually it was fantastic and the fairways were all green. The deer that free roamed the course made the weekend. The course was a little hard for the high handicappers. BUT what an experience, would recommend it to everyone. Stunning set up and very enjoyable

✓16 Jul 2025
The condition of the course at present is quite poor in places. The first tee is in great condition then after that every tee could do with water as they are barren in places, uneven and very dry. The greens are good on some holes but then others there are patches where I think the wrong fertiliser has been used and there is more grass on concrete than on the green. Hole 3 I believe has a third of the green unusable. None of the greens are holding. Again need water. In comparison to the Arden course it is poor
Richard
✓16 Jul 2025
Course in great shape now. Greens lovely and holding. Run fast but watered so can throw a ball into them and they stick. Bunkers raked and tees in good shape. Half way house closed by 4pm, ridiculous, then again on the Aylesford by 2pm had run out of a lot of drink and food!
Susan
✓12 Jul 2025
Buggies overpriced. For the cost of buggy it should have a cool box with ice and there was no sat nav. Greens in good condition.
Robert
✓9 Jul 2025
The course is in desperate need of water like most in this dry spell.
Robert
✓9 Jul 2025
The dry weather has obviously impacted on condition of the course. Unusual pin placement due to damage to the greens meant that no pin sheets were available which made it impossible to get yardage without a laser device. Great layout though and a few weeks of rain and this will be a top track.

✓23 Jun 2025
I have played the Arden course lots of times over the years this was my first visit for Seven years. I was disappointed that the course was not as well kept as it used to be. The greens were very bumpy and patchy in places where they used to be pristine. Fairways and Rough also not manicured as previously experienced. The course is still nice to play but unless it gets back to the condition it used to be I would not hurry back.
Alan

Alan
✓14 Jun 2025
We played the Arden course first which is very challenging and has some great water features. Some of the greens had been dressed and had a lot of feed so not much grass to put over a little disappointing. We played the Aylesford course the following in day which again was a good course. If we were to play here again we would do it the opposite way around.
Ian
✓11 Jun 2025
Like the Aylesford I think the dry spell has hurt the greens as they were patchy in places
Ian
✓11 Jun 2025
Think they’ve struggled with the dry weather spell. The greens very very patchy and the fringes poor on a lot of holes
Paul
✓3 Jun 2025
The course was in much better condition that the Aylesford and it was clear they put much more effort into this course. The greens were still patchy in places which was a surprise considering the weather. Some of the greens had very little grass on them as if they had been overplayed in the winter.
Paul
✓3 Jun 2025
The course is not in a good way. They said there were problems with greens but it was more than that. The greens and the fringe ran into each other. Most of the greens had very little grass on them. The fairways were OK but had some really bad areas. Someone described it as a municipal course and that sums it up. The round on Saturday was great in terms of speed. We got round within 4 hours. It was very slow on Monday and took over 5.30 hours.

We played the course on the Tuesday same comments as for the Arden course. Still enjoyed the challenges and the golf of course. One comment every day the club was busy so you had to be patient on the course. Not knowing the course there was no map attach to the card if you wanted a map it would cost £7. Although the courses were well marked.
Michael

Philip
✓13 May 2025
We had not played any of the courses before but found this course a bit easier for our standard of golf. The course was in good condition but as with the Arden course the greens were nowhere near the standard you would expect from a PGA facility. To end my review I would like to thank Angus at Your Golf Travel for helping me arrange my trip to Forest of Arden GC and look forward to arranging my next golf trip you.

Ian
✓12 May 2025
SAdly this course was not at its best. The "Greens" were not really grass, they were colloquially dubbed "The Muds" so very poor condition, and TBH quite a boring and featureless course, going up and down a field with some trees in between the fairways.
John Peter
✓2 May 2025
Course was fun. The 3-5 holes next to the M6 motorway were noisy (not unexpected). Greens were a little underprepared but will be great in 1-2 weeks. Biggest problem was we did not actually have a booked tee time even though Your Golf Travel App said we did. Apparently, according to Golf Pro, Your Golf Travel wrongly booked our golf time at the wrong course. Very rushed to get emergency tee time.
John Peter

I preferred the Aylesford course to the Arden, even though the Arden is the premier course. Fairways seemed to be a little boggy in places as we did have some rain overnight before our round on the Arden. The greens weren't as quick as I imagined and so many times the ball rolled away from the hole just an inch or two away from in - very frustrating!! It took a while to get used to the greens but overall was in excellent condition. It was also amazing to see all the deer roaming around.

Lovely course. We just thought they should of put two balls in front of the four balls, and the Marshalls should have kept an eye on slow play.

Our round was Sunday afternoon - exceptionally slow. Very very busy. However simple use of course Marshall to encourage “Ready Play” would have resolved this. Perhaps use the starter to do this (didn’t seem to do much else!)

Excellent round at decent pace; greens had been recently scarified so not 100% true. Bunkers rock hard after overnight rain (should have been raked)

Great course - possibly my favourite outside of the “open courses” As per previous the halfway house would have been better with fresh sandwiches. A number of us ate the hot snacks and all of us threw them in a bin after a couple of bites.

✓16 Sep 2024
We played 2 rounds on the Arden course - the first we only managed 15 holes before sunset (after 5 hours) due to the ridiculous slow play in front. We complained after 9 holes as there were no marshals on the course and received a very poor reaction from the pro shop with no acknowledgement of an issue and a promise of a marshal who we never saw on the course. Our group was pretty fed up. The second round was better only in the fact that we teed off earlier so were able to make it round in 6 hours. Again no marshals on the course. Slow play will kill off returning customers - we won't be back.
Michael
✓16 Sep 2024
Was a disgrace there were no Marshalls to keep play moving we teed off at 2pm and it took 3hours 10 mins for 9 holes we had to stop playing after 15 holes as it was dark it’s a long way to come for 15 holes there are golfers playing that can’t hit the ball there should be a handicap limit to play the Arden course as it’s quite hard

Really enjoyable and quick. no one in front or behind - ideal. Only negative that applied to both courses was the bunkers / sand. perhaps more sand in the bunkers would have been better but the sand wet in places. Noneless great experience.

Lovely course fairways really good and divots replaced regularly by staff as some players can’t be bothered but that’s wherever you go. I found a good number of greens tricky to read but the run very true. Great to see the deer who appear to steer clear of the greens thank goodness. Overall a real challenge on a lovely course.

Super course, very tricky with all of our group finding it very tough. We're all regular golfers and only 3 out of 32 managed more than 30 points. Bunkers were numerous and huge but quality of sand wasn't great, perhaps caused by the downpour right at the start of our round. Numerous divots around the course, we should have had a society local rule of lift and drop from a divot
Chris

We didn’t know what to expect with the second course, but it was also brilliant to play. A number of shorter holes than The Arden, but also pretty challenging in places and in good condition. Halfway house just after the 10th was a welcome sight!

We had strong winds which made more difficult and more enjoyable. The round was slow due to the winds and a mixture of 4-3&2 balls coursing a small delay on the boxes but it was the weekend so some delays were expected but more so for the 2 balls which should have been made up to a four ball
Jamie
✓9 Jun 2024
Greens were great. Rough is not long but really thick, won’t find your ball until your stood over it. 5 hour 30 min round wasn’t great. No marshalls out speeding up slow groups. Venue like this the rough should probably be a bit more forgiving as too much time is spent looking for balls in rough that is only 2-3 inches tall. This is what slows all the groups down, looking for balls that should easily be found, especially when they are only 6ft from the edge of the fairway.

An excellent course that i had not played previously. Again it was very wet in places and the greens were not in tip top condition as they had recently been aerated. Well manicured course with greens very fast for the time of year. Course in very good condition and having played all over the world was very much up there with being the best. Did not disappoint at all. Good mixture of long Par 3 , Par 4 & Par 5 holes but not impossible to score well.

✓10 Oct 2023
Beautiful golf course and surrounding areas. Greens receptive and good for time of year. Fairways like carpets. Water in play on several holes. Slightly let down by the fact our tee time was moved back by nearly an hour. The 4 ball we watched tee off didn’t reach the fairway with any of their drives on the first and then took an age to hack it a further 50 yards until the eventually reached the green. We sat at the half way house for 20 minutes to try and create a gap, which we made up in 3 holes by just playing at a steady pace !!!!! Beautiful course let down by people that should find some other means of passing their time.
Andy
✓10 Oct 2023
Nice course, but not as mature as it’s sister course (the Arden). Disappointing that our agreed tee times were moved, annoying when you see and hear what really happened.
Kevan
✓4 Oct 2023
Course layout is fantastic, some really good testing holes would benefit to have played it before as hit some good drives only to be blocked out by a great Oak tree, greens were good. But everything was spoiled by the pace of play, the starter warned us it could be slow probably around 4 hrs 40 minutes he said as there were some older golfers who struggled off the 1st tee. The actual round took 5 hours 40 minutes, we waited on every tee on the front 9 which took 3 hours, shocking. Should definitely introduce handicap limits on championship courses, think some who were playing must have no handicap at all. So it really spoilt our experience.
Kevan
✓4 Oct 2023
Course was in reasonable condition for time of year considering there had been a lot of rain, preferred lies should have been in operation as ball picked up quite a bit of mud on the fairways, greens were ok. Speed of play was good taking just over 4 hours.

✓21 Sep 2023
Second visit to Forest of Arden and loved the Arden course so much last year that upgraded to 3 rounds on it this time. In great condition particularly the fairways. However a massive downside for me was the time it took to play 18 holes - 5 hours 45 mins on Sunday and 5 hours 30 on both Monday and Tuesday. We're average golfers but waiting on almost every shot really spoilt what should have been a fantastic experience. Maybe the tee-times are too close together or there is not enough marshalling going on but pace of play really needs looking at in my opinion. This is a shame as it is making us consider not going back if a round takes that long.
Peter
✓9 Sep 2023
Returning after 20 years it was good to see this course developing a character of its own. The area around the 16th and 17th need planting to provide interest and perspective. With a number of dogleg holes, better signposting and a course layout map on the card would be helpful.
Peter

Our round of golf took 6 and a half hours. On the first par 3 on the front five we were part of a queue of 12 people on the tee box. That hole took 30 mins to play. I have never played a round of golf past 6 hours before and it is again extremely irritating that not a single marshal was seen throughout the entire time. It was the longest game of golf any of us had ever played and I am stunned it is allowed on that standard of course.

Good course to play with some interesting approach's to the greens, Greens in general were in good condition for the work they have to go through. Monday morning the green keepers were cutting the greens in an order that meant they were always with us, and holes being changed at the same time which meant if you were in a group, you could of been playing a hole which had been changed. not good for NP comps. Appart from that we would play it again.
Brian
✓18 Jul 2023
The course was very busy, but you expect that, however we did have non golfers walking around the course which could have been a problem if a ball had hit them, No course marshall, the starter was really good. Cards for the course was only available at the starter, so little to no planning could be done prior to playing if you were in a group. Buggys VERY expensive at £45 a go, most courses are £30.

Fantastic condition and we were lucky going out at 10.09 with no one in front of us at all. No hold ups and great condition given the number of golfers using the course. 4 hours 20 mins was a very good pace. Well done Arden. Every hole is a good one. A real challenge for all golfers.

Very slow. A four ball let us through. A very friendly female pro from sterling in Scotland approached us in a buggy about half way round to check how our round was going. After we said it was slow she said she could speak to the group in front to hurry them up. But said no as we didn't mind and we were a 2 ball amongst lots of 4 balls. She was very accommodating and we give her 5 out 5.

You can definitely tell the difference in how much the courses are looked after, felt a little like the forgotten child in places. We played it twice obviously it doesn’t compare with the Arden course but it was a challenge and quite a few tricky holes. All the par 3s were tough and a few long par 4s. Because of the terrible weather buggies weren’t available and that is worth considering if you’re not physically fit or elderly.
Paul
✓15 Apr 2023
The course is brilliant and a great experience. Our trip was spoiled by the weather which was appalling, heavy rain, strong winds and cold. The only criticism is if the weather is wet there’s a strong chance that buggies aren’t allowed. Consequently 3 of our party of 16 weren’t physically fit enough to walk the course.

The Aylesford course was less interesting than the Arden and was a lot wetter. The front was very ‘up and down’ on the front 9 but the back 9 was more interesting. The fairways are very open and therefore very forgiving but due to the conditions, the holes still played very long. The greens still showed signs of recent coring and the wet weather had probably slowed down their recovery.
Clint
✓28 Mar 2023
The course was extremely wet and squelchy, although the fairways were less so. As a consequence the course played extremely long. The course was full and parts of it had been churned up by the numbers playing it. I would imagine it will take some time to recover once it starts drying out. The pace of play was very slow, which meant our round took near on 5 hrs to complete. The greens were ok but still showed signs of recent coring, which meant they were bobbly. The wet conditions didn’t help the way the greens behaved.

✓26 Mar 2023
The Arden course was not as muddy and as treacherous as the Aylesbury Course. Very enjoyable but the condition of the course let it down. Also very windy day so long par fives/fours with wind in your face made the course even more difficult. Enjoyable.
John
✓26 Mar 2023
We have put average as per a normal round but the course was hard because of the conditions. At a normal club this course would have been closed. We had one of our group slip with two near misses. Staff in the Pro shop were excellent. During my stay the course was closed early on a couple of morning's due to a hard frost. Re opening around 10.30am, shop were helpful and kept me informed. I was also issued a rain check for one round on the Aylesford course (allowing me to visit again in April) when business commitments took priority. Considering the time of year, the presentation of the golf course and the roll on the greens, excellent. I hope to visit again to play in Summer conditions when the trees are in full leaf and show the character of the course with more definition.

Even for November as u expect of championship course - in great condition. Many superb & very challenging holes.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Would definitely revisit but only to play Arden course TWICE on Sunday night deal.

The course was in good condition with not much mud to be seen which is good for a parkland course at this time of the year. We did find the pace of play slow which was disappointing given the start time before 1pm which meant the dark was again us.
Andy
✓2 Nov 2022
Unfortunately the weather was against us where playing this course with 2 hours of the round being played in rain and persistent downpours. Seeing through the conditions, the course isn't as well attended as the championship course but is still a good (slightly shorter) test of golf. The 10th, 13th and 18th holes are memorable.
Andy
✓2 Nov 2022
Visited at the end of October and considering the weather the course played exceptionally well. Fairways were well defined and the bunkers, although compact, were consistent. The greens were in exceptional condition for the time of year, rolling true and receptive. The front 9 is bang average and a typical resort course which is laid out as a fairly forgiving parkland course. Hole 8 & 9 are nice holes before starting the much more bracken defined heathland back 9. Some of the holes are superb.
Jennifer
✓1 Nov 2022
Would have been good to play this course first as a good prep for the more difficult a Arden course.
Jennifer
✓1 Nov 2022
An interesting course which I would like to play again. Sadly we were booked on at 1pm as only available time even though we were booking 2 months in advance! 30th October with the clocks just back an hour we played in dusk to complete darkness for at least the last four holes, This was disappointing.

✓6 Oct 2022
excellent course very difficult especially the back 9. again bunkers were not as good as I would expect. spoiled a bit bu painfully slow round (5 hours) lack of staff to chase the slow players. we were waiting on every shot after 4 holes. need a bigger gap between groups, but cash is king so they cram them on.

Great course, had bad weather for the front 9 but it never put us off, back 9 in sunshine just in time to play in the deer enclosure. Take a camera for the deer alone.
Mike

Not the easiest of courses but not the hardest either. Some tricky holes with well placed ditches and lakes. Well worth it
Michael
✓13 Sep 2022
Much better than the Aylesford. The start is a bit uninspiring given the high plaudits the course has received but it certainly gets a lot better as it goes on. Probably from about 7 onwards it really starts to shine. The back 9 in particular were perhaps the best 9 we've played on our annual golf weekend. Lovely scenery with deer wandering around, and some very challenging holes. The finishing hole requires 200 yard drive over water to land the green. Recommended.
Michael
✓13 Sep 2022
The reviews are generally accurate. Always good to have 2 courses to play at a resort, but this is very much the lesser of the two. The party found it fairly straightforward. Greens not in great condition, which was disappointing even given a fair bit of rain the week previously.
John
✓5 Sep 2022
Not the quality of the Arden course, same comments apply re climatic issues. Experience spoilt on some holes re-nearby traffic noise. Nevertheless enjoyed the experience.
John
✓5 Sep 2022
Did not quite live up to my expectations, although this could be due to the climatic conditions recently experienced. Expected a more picturesque course, although the deer enclosure on the back nine was quite astounding. Course layout and condition was good, some challenging holes but not over difficult (off the yellow tees anyway).

Enjoyable, could do with a corse layout on the card. The marker posts cold do with a disc on top difficult to see clearly as a post especially the hole where it looks like it was dog leg left but you have to go over what looks like a hedge cost me 2 shots.Half way house not open with the hot weather it would have been nice have a drink and 5 min break.

All my group really enjoyed playing this course. Dinner discussion was whether we, with hindsight, should have paid the extra £50 to play this course twice and the Aylesford only once. Thought it was probably a bit expensive to do so but if £25 we would probably have done it. As the course was not busy they would have made an extra £200 and we would have enjoyed our trip even more.

This is the course you come to play! It was easily the best course I have played at in the UK! I cannot sing its praises enough! It was like playing golf on a tour venue course! The fairways were just amazing! The greens were as fast as Ive ever played on and the great thing about the greens is the ball rolled true! The roughs were rough and the bunkers were a delight to play out of (and we played out of a lot of them!). But the course itself was just stunning! Utterly stunning! It really is a picturesque a course as they come with some truly amazing golfing holes! I would absolutely happily play the Arden again, no questions asked! Just a pity we dont live closer!!
Scott
✓27 May 2022
Really enjoyed the Aylesford, even though its the lesser of the two courses. The fairways were just amazing! And the greens! OMG! They were utterly amazing! The thing we loved about the greens is their consistent pace! They all behaved with the same lightning pace! The fairways were just ridiculously gloriously wonderful! We all really enjoyed the Aylesford as it was a mixture of tough, relatively straight forward and beautiful holes! :)

Charlie
✓3 May 2022
Just enough trouble to keep you honest, front 9 has plenty of water hazards, but the back 9 plays a little easier with only a few greens protected by water. Back 9 is a fantastic ancient woodland, deer roaming free across the mature course is fantastic

the marshall was unnecessarily very rude and had a go at us for not being at our tee time 25 minutes prior - nothing told us to and so we arrived 15 minutes prior, and as a result he then let 3 very slow 4 balls out in front of us who weren’t due off until after us, this slowed our round to approx 5 hours which was ridiculous. that aside, course was good to start off the weekend.

The Arden course is a fair bit longer than the Aylesford, really testing your game all the way round. Greens were fast and some of them large so if you had a long putt then taking 2 to get down was uplifting. Unfortunately for us it started to rain after 6 holes and didn’t stop all day, so much so the fairways and greens had standing water making the game even more difficult. Would love to return and play this course in good weather conditions.
Gary
✓18 Mar 2022

Depending on the tees, from members to professional placements, this would be a good test of golf with well placed hazards. The course was too wet to enjoy fully with again the rough a quagmire most of the time and fairways requiring preferred lies. Nice big greens. (Again because of "the wet" we played only 9 holes.)
Peter
✓10 Mar 2022
Unfortunately the course was too wet, the rough was mainly a quagmire, unplayable and almost all GUR. There was too much "wet area" to assess the course, rough, fairways and greens, but I'd say in dryer times a good, members course. ( Therefore we played only 9 holes)
Russell
✓6 Mar 2022
The toughest course I’ve played for a while! I hit over 210+ yards but white tees tested me. Greens were good, ground was wet but a terrific course we will play again in the summer.

Gary
✓26 Nov 2021
Shame the course lets the weekend down , as a 2 ball we must have lost 6/8 balls on or just off the fairway due to leaves and grass not being cut and bunkers lack of sand not great compared to the Arden bunkers which are a pleasure to play out of
Gary
✓26 Nov 2021
Great course shame about all the leaves but it’s that time of year The black deer are great to see on your walk around
Dean
✓21 Nov 2021
Enjoyed this course, although not as long as the Arden and the first few holes are a bit up and down it did vary the further around you got with interesting mix of holes hazards and lengths. To say we are playing out of season the condition of the fairways was very good. Noticed that some of the bunkers needed some work but other than that it was spot on.
Dean
✓21 Nov 2021

✓13 Oct 2021
Another little gem. Although a lot of work was going on, especially in the bunkers, the Aylesford was also very enjoyable. The greens were not as difficult to read, but just as fast as on the Arden. If you "go for it" there is reward to be had. Again this is a course I'd happily play every week if I could.
Peter
✓13 Oct 2021
The European Seniors Masters was played there the week before I played it, the hardest part of the course were the greens. They were hard to read and lightening fast, there were some real humdingers. Where there was rough, it was tough but not impossible. Easy solution, stay out of it! The fairways were immaculate, nothing else to say about them. It all culminated in playing the 18th, what a gorgeous hole to finish on. Playing off HI 18.2, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and will do again.
Matthew

A very good and testing golf course in places. Long par 3s but some very gettable par 4s. Would have liked a couple more par 5s. ✓12 Oct 2021
This course is a lot easier than The Arden, a lot of the bunkers were GUR the round only took 3hrs 40mins not bad for a 4 ball. It has some interesting holes. Had a better day reading the greens. The lady in the halfway hit was a laugh.
Mark
✓12 Oct 2021

Our first day on the Aylesford was an ease into the weekend, format was driver plus (choose best drive then play own ball). Greens receptive enough and were the quickest on this day for the whole weekend. Second round again, good course, learning from playing the previous day. Greens not as quick on this day but condition was good. It did help that i scored 44 points (+7) with a 7 on a par 4....!!

Once in the dear park this course is another level. Every hole is stunning. And the 18th is a great finishing hole
Ashru
✓25 Aug 2021
Great track in great condition. Only let down was pace of play. Waited on every tee due to groups in front losing at least 3 holes to the 4 ball in front of them. Maybe a marshal on the course reminding people to keep up with the group in front would help
Peter
✓24 Aug 2021
The Arden course was very good. The tees fairways and greens in excellent conditions all bunkers were GUR because of the deluge we had overnight. I put hard down due to the length of the back 9 being long for me and quite a few of our party who are not big hitters. Those who can hit good distance managed very well.
Peter
✓24 Aug 2021
I enjoyed playing golf on the Aylesford course. Started with the starter telling us about the course very helpful. Tees fairway and greens very good, one drawback was the bunkers was very poor not much sand and rock hard.
Matt
✓24 Aug 2021
Everyone in our group loved this course. It's set in beautiful countryside and offered a difficult challenge for most of us, with the larger bunkers and water to contend with too. Round was a little slow, but not horrendous. I can't wait to play this course again! The gentlemen in the starter's hut were also extremely welcoming and a great help
Matt
✓24 Aug 2021
We used this course for our society competition and it was an excellent course for the general standard of golf that we can all play. It's not the most challenging or long, but a good test nonetheless. Greens were in excellent condition and only had some waterlogged greens on a couple of holes after a lot of rain

Very enjoyable but was very busy. My husband and I had booked to play together but were paired up with another couple as we were starting. Very very slow play. Backed up and waiting with other groups at every hole. It took 4 hours to play 11 holes when we decided to come off so unfortunately did not finish the course. Saying that we thoroughly enjoyed playing this fabulous very picturesque course.
Susan
✓13 Aug 2021
Always difficult playing a new course which you are not familiar with. Difficult to follow the course at times. In particular we started replaying hole 6 until realised we had gone the way. Score card does not provide a lay out of the course so took a photo at the tee off.
Kevin
✓13 Aug 2021
Very nice course, especially the back nine and in very good condition. Thousands of Geese and other water fowl seriously mess up some areas. No on course facilities and without buggy service for snacks and drinks on a hot day. Marshalls tried to keep play moving on front nine but actually achieved very little and gave up later on, so expect rounds to take 5 hours.
Kevin
✓13 Aug 2021
Not cared for! Greens long and bumpy. Bunkers not raked and refreshed and more like hard pan. Fairways average, rough areas very untidy. Some water hazards dried up and unkempt. Unfortunately some holes are located right next to motorway and dreadfully noisy. No Marshall to keep play moving. No on course facilities such as a snacks and drink buggy. Overall - would not want to play again.

Found it slow 6 1/2 hours, followed a large group of 4 balls no one let us through, but to be fair there were that many it wouldn’t have made a difference. A well used busy course and clubhouse, the round took that long the kitchen was closed when we finished, no budging on the timings, closed at 5 o’clock even though we had queued since 10 to 5. Enjoyed the 2 days would play there again, jury is out with my golf partner 🤔

Lloyd
✓19 Jul 2021
very relaxed , but were pushed along by a two ball behind us , not what you expect from a complex of this size - 4 balls should be a must. for those never played the course before, they will never be as quick as members or play the same sort of shots without prior course knowledge. just a bit rushed on this course.

Firstly, starter was absolutely ace and deserves a big Thankyou. Found the first 9 a tough but enjoyable challenge. The back 9 was easier and more up/down but its fait to say the Par 4 17th is the best hole on the course. Really enjoyable.
Mark
✓2 Jul 2021
Many will describe this as the easier course and some of our scores reflected this, but the course is tight and has challenges. Fast greens, tight Fairways and semi penal rough mean it's not the easy Par 4 course some suggest.

The course is amazing. From the first tee to the 18th green we were blown away. The entire group of us agreed it was a fantastic course. Props to the green keeping staff. The tees are so flat and are like greens themselves. The greens were great, pretty fast so make sure you take your time on them. The approaches and bunkers were so well looked after. The fairways were like carpets and the rough, well that was hard.

The course held up well after torrential rain during the two days before we played. Our only comment was about the lack of any indication where the pins were located on the greens which are very large. The starter explained they could not issue there normal charts due to Covid 19 but a small triangle on the flagstick to show roughly front/middle/back could have helped as you could play onto the front and find you were 25 yards from the pin at the back! Always a enjoyable challenge.

A great knock around the Arden the pace was just right with greens clearing in time for our approach. Half way house fully stocked with food and hot drinks a welcome sight on such a cold day.
Joe
✓11 Oct 2020
Members in front no repairing of divots or pitch marks and found myself spending more and more time repairing the greens as we went along. I had cut my nose unloading the car and asked for a plaster as blood was dripping down my face, I could see a first aid box on the wall so asked for a plaster. Without even looking the Marshall said “ sorry we have no plasters” without even looking in the box “shocking” I spent the first 9 holes constantly wiping the blood from my face until the bleeding stopped.
Tom
✓10 Oct 2020
Brilliant, except that due to the heavy use there were hundreds of divots obviously used by golfers who have no etiquette and have never been asked to replace their divots, or simply can’t be bothered

✓22 Oct 2019
Some really nice holes. Not quite as good condition as the Arden course. Much shorter but still took way too long to get round. 4 balls all over the course meant lots of waiting on tees for groups in front. Quite often waited with two groups on the tee box. We didn't finish the last two holes due to light and we played well so was a bit disappointing. Also the half way refreshment was closed which was really irritating! Surely it needs to stay open if there are rounds still out! Also the Zest bar afterwards was packed with golfers and we couldn't get food or drink it was not serving!!
Richard
✓22 Oct 2019
Lovely course. A bit wet in parts - difficult at this time of year. Our tee off was 1.45 and finished the 18th in the dark. V. slow going around waiting for 4 balls in front.
Tony
✓25 Sep 2019
The course was in great condition, and it sure is challenging. The lack of any course marshals sadly meant the round took just over 5 hours. Maybe to be expected of a place like this, but I fail to see why any round of golf should take more than 4 - 4.5 hours.
Tony
✓25 Sep 2019
As the second course, this obviously wasn't in the same league as the Arden, but was a nice warm up. It's a bit open in places allowing for my wide of fairway hitting to go unpunished - meaning you are rarely not still hitting towards the green despite a wayward drive. A few very short par 4's offer the chance of some birdie efforts.

✓28 Aug 2019
The course was in excellent condition in all areas. We were in a large group consisting of scratch golfers up to 18 handicap and it offers a fair challenge to all abilities. Undulating greens, thick semi rough, huge bunkers, lots of water..... However the fairways are wide enough and greens big enough to make it very playable! The wildlife on the cheese only adds to the experience

Having played the championship then the Aylesford course it was a culture shock for the first 4 holes which were quite dangerous with balls straying from adjacent fairways. Once round the corner the course opens up with plenty of room and delight to play. Some challenging holes and a good test. Green not as fast (as championship) but true.
Peter
✓15 May 2019
Great course to play but many divots not replaced so you are penalised should your ball land in one! Lush rough but not surprising given recent weather. Hardest greens I have played on and took some time to get used to the pace. Deer roaming across the course were an issue especially when they decide to sit down in the fairway. Daunting final hole but managed hit the green and secure a par.
