Set on the breathtaking east coast of Fuerteventura, with the enchanting Atlantic Ocean as a backdrop, Fuerteventura Golf Club is a beautiful, yet challenging course, where the wind can be the biggest hazard. The club helped to stamp the island on the golfing map, playing host to the European Tour’s Open de Espana in 2004.
Located less than 10 minutes from Fuerteventura Airport, and mere moments from the hotels, beach and neighbouring golf course, the club is in an ideal location for visiting golfers. The course is designed around three lakes, making for an exciting round before you explore the rest of the island.

Bordered by lovely palm trees, the course offers amazing panoramic views of the Atlantic, and is equally as beautiful as it is challenging. Formulated around three large lakes, the intriguing course measures a modest 6,068 yards, but its par of 70 is a formidable target.
Within a few minutes of the coastline, the Fuertaventura golf club is perfect for some relaxing holiday golf during your next visit to the lovely Canary Island. Within a few minutes of the golf course are excellent hotels including the 5* Hotel Elba Palace Golf and the Sheraton Fuerteventura Resort.

Depending on your times the course was very slow in the morning but ok so n the afternoon starters do there best to keep everything moving but mixes with buggies and people walking don’t work the best

We played the course over three consecutive days. As a two-ball, we were paired up with other players on each occasion, which only enhanced our experience. The Elba Palace Golf Boutique Hotel, located on-site, provided a very welcoming and helpful atmosphere. Any concerns I had about not having a handicap certificate were unfounded and we were given a complimentary bucket of balls each to use on the practice area before play. We were able to have a buggy each day at around €40. Playing off handicaps of 16 and 11, each round took us approximately 4 to 4½ hours. The course itself offers a good challenge with some interesting stroke indexing — notably, the 2nd hole played as our Stroke Index 1 despite being marked as 15 on the card! Unfortunately, holes 16 and 18 were a bit disappointing, as the tee positions have been compromised by the development of houses. The greens were in excellent condition, though some fairways were a little scruffy in places. The bunkers contained very stony sand, and in some cases even small rocks. Volcanic rock borders several holes, but free drops are permitted to prevent club damage. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our three days on the course. It was a fun and challenging experience, though some of the surrounding views are spoiled by construction sites alongside the course.

The course played differently every day as the wind is a major factor the first day I played 3 over the second day i played 6 over The course is short but has some interesting holes would of enjoyed it better if I’d played with some competitive or similar standard players but overall enjoyable and great staff good practice area chipping and putting was good

Great range and putting facilities. Excellent layout with interesting holes and lightning fast greens. The course is very busy with a full starting sheet and the condition is outstanding considering, with only the eighteenth men’s tee needing work. The weather in January was perfect 21 degrees and sunny. Senior golfers should pre-book buggies it is a long walk with a serious hill on the seventeenth.

The course gets a lot of use due to the great weather in Fuerteventura but stands up well. The greens are brilliant. The variety of holes is good for a resort course the second is a true test with a very difficult tee shot to a narrow fairway. Free range balls and push trolleys for each round are an added bonus The only thing that lets the course down is a lack of sand in the bunkers and the tee positions on the 6th,16th & 18th holes. They are tucked away behind plants & palm trees so tee shots don’t stray into local villas. This means you aren’t playing the course as it was designed to be played.Still a very enjoyable value for money trip

Very good course for our level of golf. Not difficult to walk, only the last two holes a bit uphill. Some difficult, some not. Some mens tee placements not so good unless you had a draw and ladies do get a good advantage but good overall a good holiday golfing experience.

This is a very well organised golf facility. The staff are very warm and welcoming and couldn't be more helpful. They don't overbook the course so we could play at a good pace. The course is designed very well with sensible positioning of hazards although we decided to declare the bunkers out of play as they had no sand in them. Some of the rough had bare areas and there are gravelly areas from which you are allowed to take relief. The greens are very receptive allowing a lofted shot for accuracy. Although most of the course is flat it remains very interesting and challenging. The 17th hole has a steep climb up to the green so if you are not a great walker it would be worth considering hiring a buggy from the club or an electric golf trolley from a golf equipment hire company (we paid 20euros for 3 days but if we had pre booked it would have cost 30 euros for the week). We would definitely come back and play again.

The welcome in the pro shop was fabulous, and got things off to a fine start, I only had 3 rounds booked, but had unlimited golf, unbeknown to me. The receptionist soon sorted things, she asked my preferred times, and booked me tee times that were better and everyday of my stay. She volunteered this, didn’t require a nudge, just super service. Range was wide, balls typical and okay to warm up. The course marshals are friendly and efficient, always assist and introduce you to your playing partners. Course itself could be so good, despite being resort in nature; problem is overdeveloped too near the fairways, so for safety they play with the tees. This makes a mockery of the design and play condition’s, very disappointing. Greens are fast, true and in great condition, greens staff always active keeping the place in good order. I had a trolly included in my package, so as I played 7 times in 7 days, I carried one day, trolly the next and succumbed to a buggy on day 7. If you require buggies, they are in short supply, so book them early in your trip. Overall really enjoyed the trip, golf was good, despite the tees being moved. I would go back.

✓16 Jan 2023
A very enjoyable course with a good design of different holes of varying degrees of difficulty. The wind did make it tricky when it was very strong. The course was in good condition despite being quite busy and therefore heavily used. There was a driving range and excellent chipping and putting practice areas. The starter and marshall kept a close eye on the pace of play and our rounds went very smoothly. A course that could be played every day without becoming in the least boring. There was a lovely 19th hole bar and terrace to enjoy drinks and a meal. The menu was varied with dome excellent sandwich, burger and salad choices.

The course is great for holiday golf - a couple of difficult holes early on, a couple of quirky holes near the end and a playable middle. Terrific views all round. The only problem was that fourballs were made up without any reference to playing ability. We were very lucky on the first round, the second was OK, but the third included a beginner who was desperately slow. The course marshal eventually sorted this out on the 7th hole, moving the couple to a later tee time when they could play on their own without holding anyone up, which was great for all concerned.

Sadly this year there appears to be some infestation of weeded areas on some fairways. They are not marked up as GUR but do stop the ball from rolling. We felt that they need to circle around them to start with and Mark them off. They need scraping and reseeding. Having played the course many times over the years, we know this is not how they usually look. The greens are superb and are very well maintained. Overall there are some areas that need a bit of ‘polishing’ up to make it look tip top, but it wouldn’t stop us going again.

The low season reduces the number of golfers to a dribble. This makes the golf much quicker & the condition of the course improves.Prices also reduce making it good value for money.

We played this course twice. First time I lost 5 balls but once I got to know the course I didn’t lose any on the second day. This was a nice course with the greens in good condition. Bunkers we’re not unfortunately. Lots of stones and with the sand not having much give. Overall a good course which was challenging with dog legs that I would play again.

I would guess this venue is struggling in the post covid environment. Course was fine and the small number of staff are obviously working flat out to keep it playable - which it is. But no pro shop and no buggies - not great. Fantastic restaurant attached to golf club.

We played this course five times. The first time I played it I wasn't over keen, perhaps I was comparing it with the courses in Portugal but it grew on me. The first couple of holes are very tight but it opens up and offers many challenges including some nice water features. The only complaint is the bunkers that lack proper sand, apparently it all blows away, so you haven't a clue what will happen to your ball. I learned to try to take the ball clean without touching the surface. They offer you free balls for the driving range and a free pull trolley which is a nice feature and it is a flat course apart from the 17th so you don't need a buggy if you are reasonably fit. I would go back again.

A typical resort course that has shortened since it hosted the Spanish open in 2004. Now cramped and narrow among properties with dog-legs aplenty but very enjoyable for us to play on holiday(Feb/22). All bunkers without rakes should be treated as waste areas. Some terrific holes to challenge players of all abilities particularly in the ever present testing wind. Four great par threes and some good par fives. Beautiful surrounds make for a pleasant round. Good transition, presentation is consistent whilst has a memorable design. Recommend play. 7/10 pd

Good and testing with lots of dogleg holes around water hazards. The regular breeze gave it protection from very good golfers and was enough of a challenge for a holiday. ✓26 Feb 2019
We enjoyed the golf in spite of the narrowness of the second hole which has a road as its boundary on the right hand side and a deep drainage ditch on the left hand side. The width of the fairway was very narrow and it was not until the sixth round that I finished the hole with the same ball as starting it!! This says a lot about my golf but I cannot suggest that I enjoyed that hole. Some of the tees were rough, needing care and attention. The fairways were good, as were the greens. We enjoyed our light lunches on the Hotel terrace after playing.

Tees 6 and 18 are temporary and not suited to the design of the hole. Fairways not tight enough for my liking. Some tees were well worn. It is what it is and the weather was wonderful! The starters are great and did their best to keep everything moving. On a different subject, we were very disappointed with the driver who picked us up at the airport. He did not meet us on arrival and we had to spend some time asking around. He was surly and reluctant. Return fransfer was prompt and excellent.

A wonderful golfing week. Although the weather was a bit mixed with the odd shower one day, and some typical Canary Island breezes, the temperatures were in the low to mid twenties and perfect for golf. I loved the course - mostly pretty flat apart from the last 2 holes. Personally I also enjoyed the experience of meeting new people as my husband and I were put out with an assortment of other golfing pairs to fill up the tee slots. I would be happy to play this course again anytime!
