The larger of the 2 islands, Saint Kitts, is dominated by the dormant Mount Liamuiga volcano, home to a crater lake, green vervet monkeys and rainforest crisscrossed with hiking trails. In terms of golf, there are four courses that are evenly distributed between St Kitts and Nevis, with Royal St Kitts and the Four Seasons Nevis being the main features, both of which should be added to any golfers must-play list.
St Kitts & Nevis is no exception in the Caribbean when it comes down to heavenly beaches with spectacular views. This gorgeous country is an awesome destination for a couple rounds of golf, whilst having many alternative activities to enjoy when away from the course, including hiking trails, sandy beaches and historic National Parks to explore.
This was the first golf course Robert Trent Jones Jnr created in the Caribbean, with palm tree-lined fairways imaginatively routed around the slopes of the dormant Mount Nevis volcano. The course also boasts amazing views looking over to St Kitts for many sections.
Measuring around 6,900 yards from the back tees, the palm-fringed fairways are strung out along the Atlantic coast of the island, producing a spectacular sequence of closing holes running along the Caribbean Sea.
The island is hugely taken up by three volcanic peaks, with the highest being Mount Liamuiga. Surrounded with rainforest with a diverse selection of wildlife, including vervet monkeys and wild orchids, these hikes can produce some of the most spectacular views in a surreal location.
This one of a kind railway service is something to behold, embarking on a luxury tour of the island’s most celebrated beauty spots, whilst gaining an insight into the history of the country itself. The train started up in 1912 where the ‘Sugar Train’ was born, initially used for transporting sugar, then once production stopped in 2005, the train lived on for a popular attraction spot.
Surrounded by warm blue seas, the islands are great for all different water sports. Kiteboarding, windsurfing and sailing dinghies are all great ways to enjoy a rush of the various water sports on offer. For those looking to take it easy, the beaches are incredibly peaceful, including Majors Bay which is rarely busy and an absolute gem of a spot to sit back and relax.
With little traffic on the islands and driving on the left-hand side, it couldn’t be easier to explore the areas via car. Take a ferry to get between the islands, then have little distance left to reach your final destination.
