Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club

Great hotel for what we wanted (ladies trip). Only issue is we paid £40ph for dinner, and printed on the menu was actually £35ph!

Room was spacious and clean, well stocked with tea/coffee making facilities. Unfortunately the cast iron restaurant was closed and dinner in the Vardon was very limited. Strong smell of bleach throughout the day and evening.

Very good rooms, comfortable beds and well appointed rooms. Set menu for evening meal worked very well with the options available. Breakfast was excellent with a wide selection of things available. However some of the party arrived early on the Sunday and had breakfast. This was charged at £18.50 which zi think is a bit too much considering a party of 15 were staying with them. Drinks were a little on the expensive side, especially the wine. Bars closed at 11pm on Sunday night and the party of 15 would have spent another hour in their.

Twin room was excellent with two double beds.

Had a one night stay, 2 rounds of golf. Without being spectacular, the overall experience at the hotel was superb. This was in large part down to the wonderful staff...whoever recruits and trains these professional and friendly people needs an award. Worried about the dreaded " buffet breakfast" but it was extensive and fresh. Good swimming pool and large pleasant room .

Very enjoyable weekend away. The hotel rooms were fantastic, the facilities were excellent, great food and the staff were brilliant.

All good with an Impressive building and decor. A shame the shower head wouldn’t hold its position so I had to hold it.

Unfortunately we had issues with our reservation booking the restaurant manager told us there was no dinner confirmation on his system and the restaurant was full, it took over 35 mins rectify During this time we order drinks from the bar which took as long Eventually he offered us a table with a set menu but the food was ok Unfortunately there was no apology he was very dismissive We did enjoy our evening and the group of 9 ladies made the best of our evening

A truly stunning hotel and grounds. Would highly recommend to anyone, spa facilities were absolutely perfect breakfast was amazing. Huge thumbs up from all 8 of us that stayed

We paid a high cost with the promise of dinner but when we went to book dinner, we were told we weren't allowed to eat at the a la carte and instead had to eat at the bar, which was a burger and fries.

Had a lovely stay at the hotel. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. The grounds were lovely. And the facilities were great.

All staff very good except reception person was very poor. Didn’t have us booked in for dinner thought we were on b&B basis only then changed it to only one person pre paid for dinner. No apology and a waste of time. All other staff were very good

Fantastic location with breathtaking views of the grounds. First class service from all staff over the weekend they went above and beyond to make our staff excellent. Definitely recommend and will be returning

For a group of 4 staying 1 night and two rounds we had two twin rooms. Nice and comfy and great to actually have two double beds rather than single twin beds (this has happened before and definitely not comfy) Breakfast and dinner in the cast iron grill was great and the staff were very attentive. Food quality was very good. Seeing as we was there on a Friday and Saturday was quite surprised to see the sports bar pretty much empty on the evening but plenty of seating and screens Drinks prices are a little steep but guess this is what you get when visiting bigger golfing resorts. All in all great facilities within the hotel and definitely good value for money!

Hotel is great

Although very smart hotel and excellent facilities, the main issue we all experienced was the lack of directions in a large hotel. Also the distance between facilities was incredible, bar to room, room to restaurant, also bars very punctual on closing not a chance of a late drink in the bar!

Lovely hotel set in beautiful grounds - sports bar worked well for watching football. Main restaurant was fine and food was adequate but in our view a hotel of this quality should be offering a higher standard of food - historically we stayed here when they had a restaurant with white table clothes and a Michelin star.

Outstanding weekend enjoyed by everyone

Understaffed in restaurant area and breakfast, consequence of dirty dishes tables not cleared, ran out plates/bowls cutlery etc….. Towel laundering hard feel. Food - underwhelming and overpriced Significant drop in standard since last vacation visit. One night stay with 18 holes golf with total cost @ £500 ?? No, we wont be back. And good luck Hanbury Manor.

Really enjoyed our stay - great location, lovely hotel and excellent food. Whilst we had the opportunity to choose A la carte we were pleasantly surprised at the options and quality of the golfer package set menu. Particular mention must go to all of the staff - whether on the course, the pro shop, restaurant/bars or the spa - everyone without exception was friendly and helpful. Would not hesitate to recommend and we hope to visit again.

You get what you pay for with Hanbury Manor, a high quality hotel, great food, service and fantastic facilities - the pool, steam room and sauna help golf recovery. We would certainly go again.

Lovely big rooms

The Hotel was very good and the rooms were fab. The shower was was not good and the bath took for ever to fill and empty but other than that a great experiance.

Great hotel, building and grounds in first class condition. The dinner choices were very good and breakfast exceptional. The staff were very welcoming. Best golf hotel we’ve stayed in.

The hotel and grounds are lovely, the pro shop was full of extremely helpful members of staff and the hotel was no different. The building itself is kept very clean and tidy and although the rooms wouldnt be classified as luxury they were perfect for what we required. The breakfast (buffet style) was good on both days the the dinner in the restaurant was also very good, this wasnt just pub food (although they do serve this in the golf bar and that was also delicious). Overall very please with our stay.

First time back at HM for over 10 years. Hotel and rooms could do with a spruce up tbh and the restaurant was ok but nowhere near as good as I recall it being previously. Bar closed at 11pm (on a Thursday night?) and there was an acute shortage of decent good quality wine. Asked for 4 bottles of Sancerre for the table being a group of 12 to be advised they only had 3 in stock whilst the Argentinian Malbec we ordered was not available at all. Staff were courteous, pleasant and attentive however. Shame we couldn’t spend a bit more time (and money) in the bar after dinner with our clients….

This is a great place to stay, the staff were super helpful and a real asset. Only comment would be that - as the golf centre is so far from the reception - it would be good if you could also check out via the golf centre.

Hotel was very good. Rooms a good size and well maintained. Dinner and breakfast were excellent. Staff were attentive especially Megan, who was excellent.

Disappointingly tatty/dated hotel. Apart from the Cocktail bar which looked interesting historically and was clean, all other areas, IE the main restaurant, Vardon Golf:Leisure bar, bedrooms and bathrooms are in need of a good clean and revamp. Food on the floor and seats after table tops were cleared, tatty veneered and wonky tables, upholstery rubbed away on the seat backs. Staff in the main restaurant unhelpful, drinks very slow to arrive, food warm but not hot. Nice puddings at dinner and a good Maitre D at breakfast, pleasant receptionist on checkout. Very disappointed in what cost £400 (plus drinks and a la carte dinner supplement) for 2 people one night dinner, bed and breakfast with a round of golf each.

Like most places at the moment Hanbury Manor suffers from a lack of staff in all areas due to Covid-19. However the staff were hard working and did everything they could to make your stay enjoyable. The set menu for dinner (we were a golf society on one night golf break) was a little limited on choice, but again this was impacted on staff levels. However, the food was very good. Rooms were well appointed and comfortable would recommend.

The manor is stunning and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Shower in room is a bath / shower combination and tight, not very user friendly for more senior guests. Grounds are stunning and well managed, food and bars quality was good.

THE STAFF WERE EXCELLENT. THE ROOM WAS COMFORTABLE BUT THE SHOWER AND BATHROOM FACILITIES WERE BASIC. THE SHOWER WAS WEAK AND THE TIOILET DIDNT ALWAYS FLUSH AS IT WAS FILLING VERY SLOWLY. POOR QUALITY T0WELS IN THE ROOM BUT THE SPA TOWELS AND SHOWERS WERE EXCELLENT. THE SLIPPERS NEEDED TO COME IN LARGER SIZES. THE FOOD WAS VERY TASTY AND THE SERVICE IN THE RESTAURANT WAS PERFECT. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO HAVE ABAR WITH A BIT MORE ATMOSPHERE TO USE AFTER OUR MEAL. THE SPORTS BAR WAS AVERAGE. AND DIDNT HAVE SKY SPORTS.

Hotel was very nice, but for the size of the hotel it seem to be short on staff.

A short stay,but comfortable and good quality with very courteous and helpful employees and excellent dinner.

No complaints at all. Accommodation, bars and restaurants of a high quality in a country house setting. Food was good but not exceptional with all the standard choices. Staff were all friendly and attentive possibly the most memorable aspect of the stay.

Lovely stay but shocked to find that having already paid for the trip through your golf travel that on returning home I have been charged for our stay again!!! Still waiting for them to refund my money!!! 🙁🙁

First class all round - special call out to the golf team who were fabulous

Lovely Manor House and grounds. Our two double bedrooms were in the Orchard Wing on top floor of three. Lift broken so had to go back to Reception to arrange porterage to help with luggage. These room quite dark with very small windows and warm at night, fan in room helped. One large double bed with feather mattress topper and duvet so very warm. Bathroom worn fittings but everything worked. Evening Menu very limited and odd that set price menu on package almost mirrored the Al A Carte available for a £10 supplement. Steak was good. Premium draft beer and larger not available across both Main and Spike Bar outlets, beer in one and larger in another, why? Restaraunt staff did obtain from Spike, thank you. Breakfast was good, order fresh eggs at your table as only scrambled on the served buffet. Used the pool, excellent. Prebooking required for one hour timed slot. Overall the room and dining experience was below par for a Premium Hotel and did not represent value for money. Whilst we accept that some limitations are required by Covid safeguarding we are not paying a reduced rate. Staff were helpful and friendly across all services. The hotel will need to modernise and lift its dining experience if it is to compete with Brockett Hall and other premium Hotels in the area.

Excellent short break

The Hanbury manor golf course was fantastic fairways and greens were lovely. The hotel was great the staff were very helpful and the manor itself was beautiful. Will be back soon

Comfortable twin rooms located on the ground floor of the hotel block, not the main Manor House. Clean and tidy if not a little dated. Large rooms to be able to take golf clubs and trolley in between golfing days. Car Park free and close by if you preffered placing back into your car. Bar closed at 11pm and last orders at 10.30, we thought a little early to be fair. Also the bar had a TV, yet only had BBC and ITV euro games, and no golf via sky? Seems odd for a golf resort. Overall 4 star. Would go and play again.

Service at the Pro Shop was very good. Room's for golfers are excellent - 2 double beds in the room plus all the amenities - your tea/ coffee etc. The dinner service and food was very very good (admittedly we paid the extra £15/per head for the steak - bit extreme but quality was very good). Staff throughout were very helpful and nothing was a problem. Very comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Beautiful place Amazing staff

Our stay unfortunately coincided with the COVID 19 pandemic rule limitations, so our experience was a bit limited by comparison with the usual amenities that would have been available to our group.

Beautiful setting, staff very polite and couldn’t do more for you. We had treatments in the spa which were excellent as was the golf.

The hotel was really impressive in style a layout although there are some very long walks through the hotel to the restaurant and reception depending on where your room is. The only restaurant serving food was the main dining room with the golfers bar only offering pre packed sandwiches which were worse than service station sandwiches and on our last day not even offering that. The food in the main restaurant in the evening and breakfast were very good. One big downside was the service charge on every bill. The drinks were expensive enough without that added an it was not mention this was added on the first two days or even given the bill to see. Beer was £7-£8 and a glass of wine £12 !!!

Lovely building and rooms, however we were directed on arrival to a rather dismal bar, with limited drink choice and only packet sandwiches and crisps available While understanding that waiter service is mandatory we felt the 12.5% service charge was steep. Dinner was acceptable but with a limited menu and no upgrade available, again the setting was dismal for such a lovely building The staff were excellent The golf course could’ve been excellent but suffers with poor drainage and we happened to hit it after a wet spell. Greens had been cores and dressed, unavoidable but a shame. Unless there’s summer run on the fairways I would recommend the yellow tees for mid handicappers as the whites are 500 yards longer and it’s noticed. Would come back post Covid and hope the dining and bar experience is improved.

Really nice rooms and friendly staff, however with table service being put in place there were too few

This is the third Marriot mini golf holiday we have had. The others were St.Pierre and Forest of Arden. This was by far the worst from a golfing point of view as basically this is a members golf club which tolerates guests from the hotel up to a point.

Excellent hotel....only downside is long walks to everything internally due to the size of the buildings.... a small price to pay really.

Very pleasant and comfortable stay in interesting surroundings. I would have liked done information on the history of the manor. In addition, the walk from room to restaurant was rather long and would have been very challenging if it had been wet

Wonderfull building lots of charm and grandeur, staff very friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent and varied and catered easily for dietary needs. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The staff were appalling, too few and completely overwhelmed and under trained. The service was slow and inept a great shame.

Played for our family Shield last weekend at Hanbury Manor hotel and golf. Hotel and golf course absolutely brilliant. One of our families best weekends ever. 👍

Room was comfortable and quiet, air con would have been great.

The staff were brilliant, friendly, attentive and very efficient. We couldn't fault them . The spa was clean and lovely. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and our meals were delicious.

I how stayed at this hotel many times since it opened in the late 80's and am pleased to report that my stay on this occasion was as good as any that I have previously enjoyed. Great staff, comfortable rooms, fantastic dinner and breakfast, plus the golf course in superb condition.

Couldn’t have asked for a better hotel to stay in. The food, staff and facilities were all very good and would highly recommend coming here. I will definitely be back!

From start to finish it was a great stay, checking in was so simple and the receptionists were very helpful, are rooms were ready when we got there at midday and are bags were taken straight to are rooms so we could go and have lunch before golf.

Hotel is beautiful, rooms are ordinary, and staff is mixed (front desk are terrific, restaurant and bar - particularly vardons is poor - customers treated with indifference). I didn’t use spa facilities but Tyner are very nice in appearance.

the stay was wonderful,the staff all very friendly,we also used the snooker table,which could of done with a bit more lighting,has its been moved to a conference room,and the ceiling lights do not line up with the table.but enjoyed stay and will hopefully go again.

Lovely place - a bit dated in decor (particularly the breakfast restaurant), but pleasant enough nonetheless. The only thing I was not very happy about was the fact that the non-golfing part of the party were told they could not use the spa until we were checked in. Our golf round started at 12 so we arrived round 11:30 and the non-golfers were not permitted access to the spa, even though we had been told they could. We had to plead with the reception staff for an exception to this rule before they were finally let in. This was very poor service and made the non-golfers feel like 2nd rate citizens.

Booked 2 rounds and overnight stay. First afternoon round was v slow and they give preference to 4 balls. Really beautiful, well kept course - with fantastic views. Some issue with morning tee time on 2nd day as we were bumped back from original tee time at booking. The golf pro and his team really helpful and in the end we played the back 9 before the front 9 and had the first 9 holes to ourselves!

Really enjoyed the experience. Course and its surrounds is very impressive. Plays hard but fair. Would very much like to play there again. All of our group enthused about the quality of playing at Hanbury Manor.

We found the staff in the pro shop very helpful and accommodating. Due to bad weather on Sunday, we asked if it was possible to play on Monday instead. There was no problem.

Everyone in the party of 15 really enjoyed both rounds. The guys in the pro shop were super helpful which made everything easy for me as organiser. Buggy price a little bit expensive at £50. Usually paying £40. Halfway house was not open on the Sunday which was a shame.

Course played well with greens accessible if your drive was in the right place. Greens good.

Difficult to rate because the hotel experience was so good. Played twice..there are essentially 2 x 9 holes courses. The front 9 came as a bit of a shock ..a bit like a moonscape..hardly any trees..1st and 6 th holes particularly ordinary. But the course improves. Nice back 9 after the dreaded 8 th hole which must be one of the hardest I've played. A lovely couple of finishing holes.Greens ok..quite long walks from green to tee.

Friday was great a bit slow but yesterday was ridiculously busy and there were 3 footballs on the same hole and us on the tee so we gave up and only played 12 holes. Next time we will not play on a Saturday!!!!

The course was in great condition and it was extremely challenging, where the front and back 9 holes play completely differently which is a fun challenge. The fairways were great and the greens were fantastic.

Loved it. Friendly Marshall’s and in the proshop. Felt that the rough to the side of the green was a bit brutal and I felt unduly punished for a nearly great shot

On our second day after checking into the hotel playing the day before we were told our tee times were not on the system as confirmed when booking The starter wanted four men to play at our time and expected us to wait for another hour This was inconvenient to us so we insisted we should be allowed to proceed as per booking time and had stayed at the hotel We were told no accusing golf travel of booking incorrectly I would like to know why and who is responsible

Golf course was in stunning condition due to a legends tour event taking place in the next few days. Some fantastic holes greens were perfect. Only gripe I have is we reserved buggies for the 2 rounds only to be told we couldn’t use them due to the event taking place in a few days. Will highly recommend to my friends to play a round there

Course should have been closed! Greens were good and fairways very wet and muddy in places and rest of the course was extremely muddy and dangerous to walk on. I’m sure a lovely place in summer. Took us over 5 hours to play as having to walk slowly in many areas. Course very quiet as clearly no members playing- obviously no buggies or trolleys allowed. Will avoid winter golf here. Not great VFM

Amazing, challenging course, unforgiving rough and excellent greens

Tee’d off on both days around 11:15 and it took near on 5 hours to complete the first round (on a Friday) and around 4:45 hours on the Saturday. Course condition was very good and greens were in good condition and rolling quite fast. Bunkers (all though I hate being in them!) we’re also well maintained and it was nice that they actually had a descent amount of sand in them compared to other courses that just have a scattering. For those that tire during a round definitely recommend a buggy. Front 9 is definitely a bit more undulating than the back! Definitely recommend Hanbury Manor as a course to visit, play and stay! We will 100% look to go back!

Would only let +3 handicappers play off the yellow tees which measures 6000 yards. Total waste of time 🕰️ f you are a decent golfer don’t bother

Biggest problem is the distance between greens and tees, it probably adds around 45-60 minutes to the round. Also practice area to first tee, you almost need a bus! Buggy certainly required if you have difficulty walking, but make sure they are allowing them for when you arrive, wee prebooked and then found out they would only allow with a medical certificate! Also halfway hut toilets, portaloos we couldn’t believe it!

The course should have been closed. Completely waterlogged and totally unplayable. we booked 2 rounds of golf over 2 days.. we had up to 6 golfers walking off at the 9th on the first round and not one golfer played the 2nd day. a complete waste of time and money. I would like comments back with a view of a free round. we as a party feel like we've been short changed. Absolutely totally unplayable. Lakes of 10m x 10m on the fairways 6 inches deep. 🤦‍♂️

I’ve rated condition of course as 1 as it was severely flooded albeit didn’t spoil our weekend.

Conditions were very wet and getting around was difficult. Just felt that the course needed more permanent paths with the amount of traffic it gets. It was quite difficult and dangerous getting trollies around the course

The course has suffered during the winter. Very muddy walkways and areas around greens. It needs significant investment to reinstate to former glory. If the wind is in the wrong direction there is a terrible nauseating small from the next door landfill.

Fantastic golf course

Overall a good and fair course to play, a pleasure to experience a tale of two half’s , very similar in comparison to Dalmahoy , but overrated in comparison to others in area, greens in very good condition and pleasure to putt. Absolutely ,Excellent practice putting greens, and underused. Otherwise ,No improvements in practice facility or course from last vacation visit. 19th has no atmosphere and staff disconnected. Noted resident and members present also disconnected. Left feeling stuffy and stale. Shame as we had a good round.

As mentioned above the starter and marshalls on the course were all very friendly and welcoming. The course itself was really enjoyable to play - decent yardage off the yellows/whites, good mix of holes all nicely shaped by the rough and on most not too aware of other holes/golfers, overall condition of course and greens was excellent.

tough course. Punishing long rough, but scorable if you keep your ball in play. Very long between holes. def get a buggy!

The course is a lot more testing than you would think given the green speed, undulations and summer bounce of the fairways. We all felt it was get able for a good score, but only two players from sixteen got a round to handicap. It is well worth playing. The club shop could be more welcoming, the practice facilities were continually running out of balls and baskets and the half way hut was shut (in peak summer, when we were told it would be open). My complaint to this was that the halfway hut is not part of the hotel or golf set up and there is little they can do - astonishing.

a great weekend at a brilliant venue. one negative was the lack of life in the bar. there was ample room to have a pool table/darts board to get the party started but the "sports bar" was empty as a few tvs dotted around the place doesn't do the job. other than that it was really good.

Well maintained course

Enjoyed but slow play a problem.

A long course but very playable. Very good condition. Interesting playing it the 2nd day when we knew where we were going! The pro shop staff were exceptional, so helpful and very friendly.

The round was unfortunately ruined by the pace of play - 4 hours 50 minutes on the Saturday (walking) then 2 hours 45 minutes for 9 holes on the Sunday (with carts). On the Sunday we walked off after 9 holes because it was just way too slow. The course itself is really good - a lot of interesting holes with interesting dog legs. Th water features on the holes make it very scenic (#2 and #17 standout!). Bunkers and greens were in great condition. I'd play it again if they didn't overbook the golf course.

Hanbury is a course i have played a few times, the front 9 is a winding and undulating ride with a lot of open fairways. The greens were in great condition considering the recent weather. Off the greens the fairways were in good condition but they hadn't drained very well in places which meant there were some opportunities for winter style pick-and-place. We were in buggies and the speed of play on the saturday was a little slow, i imagine walking groups held up earlier on and there are some 'bottlenecks' in the course where groups gather up due to longer walks. The back 9 contrasts the front 9 being a lot more flat but seemingly introducing a lot more direct water exposure. Both compliment eachother nicely and it was a lovely round. I have a feeling that if the course was in this condition in April (post a week of heavy rain) by the summer this is going to be absolutely stunning this year.

Good course and fair for all handicaps. Greens were in very good condition. All in our group enjoyed our two days play.

Could have been very slow. 2 ball took 4 hours,group who let us through on the 5th came in 1.5 hours after us, marshals need to do more. Course in great condition for January, greens were amazing

Decent course and in great condition for this time of year. The ball striking warm up area is a bit of a disaster and really needs to be fixed up, but aside from that it is a very good course.

Course was very good and well maintained. For late November the greens were excellent. The only downside was our tee time was moved to 1124 (from 1015) so we couldn't play all 18 holes as it was too dark so finished at the 16th.

My husband and myself, loved the whole experience, staff so very helpful, course a little muddy but it was November, still really excellent, can but recommend it.

A decent course and a fair test of golf. Would not payt the advertised green fee to revisit. I note you have not asked for us to review your golf travel.... it has been a very stressful experience. I shall email your rep and his manager separately.

Checked into golf by a man wearing a mask over his mouth but not nose. Not a good start. Had a snack - a plate of squid, hummus and flatbread plus 2 beers £30. Dirty floor, food not cleaned up, tatty, chipped veneer tables, dusty table legs. Generally poor. Course was got off to a good start by the helpful starter. The course was interesting hole by hole, some long walks between greens and tees, generally in good condition. Slower than we expected on the greens. No Marshall keeping play moving despite being assured there was one. Some corporate numpties on the course who looked like they’d never golfed before. Really not ideal for a decent club golfer to follow. As with the hotel … it’s about keeping the money coming in

24 of us played 2 rounds as per of a DB&B option. Everyone loved the course and I had no complaints at all. Some of the holes have a bit of a walk between green and next tee, especially 9th to 10th (5 min walk). My only issue is the cost of buggies. At £40 a pop they are the most expensive buggy’s I’ve ever come across. Ok if you’re sharing, but if not 2 rounds will set you back a whopping £80 !!!!

Two very different nines as they were designed by different people with the Parkland ( back nine) my favourite of the two. Condition was very good even after the heavy rains with the greens running flat and true.

Course was in great condition and very well managed. it is a long course and a buggy is defiantly needed for the more senior golfer. Buggy rental at 45 pounds is not cheep and need to book in advance as they are limited.

Course good starters very courteous and helpful some pin positions very tough but overall very good

SOME INTERESTING HOLES BUT NOT MEMORABLE. THE PRO SHOP WAS VERY HELPFUL AND THE STARTER AT THE FIRST TEE WAS FRIENDLY. WE WERE IN A TWO BALL BUT EVEN SO IT WAS VERY SLOW.

The golf course was very good, and a pleasure to play.

A very nice Course with well kept tees,greens and fairways and a super location.

All OK. Course a bit open lacking trees etc on front 9. Back 9 more of a parkland setting with mature trees. Overall a good test of golf. Quite a bit of walking from green to tee seems the course was primarily designed for playing with buggies. However an enjoyable experience to play.

Great course, very different t challenge across the two nines. Staff in shop and in course were superb.

Two mixed pairs played two rounds. All good players with low to mid handicaps. Course design is fantastic with pin positions on elevated greens key to degree of difficulty. You have to think your way round this course and be prepared to use every club in the bag. Despite very heavy overnight rain on the first night the course still played well on day two. Greens had been vertidrained and still played true with decent speed. Marshall available on day two provided pace metres to everyone. We are fast so not an issue for us. Bunkers well placed and free draining. Very high rough in many places bordering fairways but most balls lost in quite low cut areas as ball nestled down out of sight. Dispiriting when a good shot played but lost a yard off fairway. Switched to yellow balls which helped locate. Good irrigation coverage evident but tee turf showed disease, odd? Buggies were new electric, expensive at £40 when no course navigation available. Would I play it again, definitely yes. A few holes still to conquer and four ProV1s still out there somewhere!

Great course and a must play. 2 very different 9 holes. Front away from the Manor House and a little hilly in places. Wide open, yet rough is rough, stay clear! The back 9 is more flat and more parkland, a totally different feel. Loved the difference between the 2 9's. Driving range area is irons only. Putting area in excellent condition to read the greens before heading out. In the course Starter was excellent and engaging both days. Greens we in great shape, fairways too. Tee boxes above average. No issues with pace as left good timing between tee offs. Very positive visit all in all.

Golf course, unfortunately was a bit of a mud bath, due to some heavy rain during the days leading up to our visit!! At least we were able to get out there. Given the mud, and sogginess, the course still played well and was in reasonable condition for the time of year - November. We will definitely be back next year, hopefully with better weather before we play.

Course in decent condition, greens ran well, fairways and surrounding areas affected by the all the rain we’ve had recently. Again some limitations given our visit and play occurred during the COVID pandemic.

We had 2 good rounds and whilst we were a 2 ball in between 4 balls on the first day it was fine as we were in no rush. Second day we had nobody in front of us and whizzed round. Course was a bit boggy but there had been a lot of rain the previous week. Really enjoyed it and would play again.

We played in very wet muddy conditions and it rained heavily over night each day. The greens still all remained in good condition although just sanded were still a good speed and true. The fairways were very sodden and no run on the ball made it play very long as we as difficult to play some shots due to the soggy ground. However a great course with interesting holes. We are booking to go back in June hopefully to better and sunny conditions

Quick greens, open fairways in places, great layout - play every year !

Very disappointing. You cannot play until the afternoon and then only from the 1st tee. Visitors car park is a long walk to the pro shop. Member is near but barriers prevent use to guests. Whilst agreeing that the conditions were not conducive to allowing buggies, members were allowed buggies for medical conditions. The Vardon restaurant which serves as the 19th only allowed guests to have a table in the corner with most tables were reserved but unoccupied by members.

Very good layout and excellent greens normally...……..unfortunately they had been hollow tined and sanded a week before which was unfortunate. Also long walks between the two 9 holes....a buggy would have been useful.

Loved the golf and environment.However, the course signage was very very poor. We couldn't find the WC at halfway house on day one...we made more effort in asking where they were on day two...just halfway house is not enough.in addition we played the 17th thinking it was the 15th....nothing to tell us differently.

Beautiful course very well maintained,even bunkers were superb. Greens were a joy (fast). The course was a joy with the open but challenging front nine and the tree lined challenge of the old Verdon back nine. We will revisit this venue good golfing challenge. (13hcp)

Fairways and greens in great condition, some treatment to the greens last week which affected them slightly hence 4 stars. Great course, pleasure to play.

We had a range of handicaps playing from 8 to 24 but all the ladies enjoyed the challenge of the course and everyone said they would like to play it again!

A great Jack Nicklaus design, superb condition, combination of challenging holes for all levels of golfer, depending on which tees you play from. The yellows make the course too short for single figure handicaps, the whites offer a far more enjoyable challenge and for those really wanting to play a Championship course, play from the Blue tees.

I’ve played quite a few courses round the world but this was up there with the best condition course I’ve ever played on. The course is set out for all skill levels and the pace of play was very good on my visit considering 170 tee’d off in one day

We all thought the course was nice and very challenging, the front and back nine are very different, it is like playing two different courses, I think anyone who likes there golf will enjoy Hanbury manor, we will definitely play it again!

Paired with a member on day one - who was very displeased with that, so much so that I left pairing and joined group ahead. In fairness this was a mix up at checkin - Marshall came around and apologized. A free beer after round would have been welcomed. Half way house was closed by 3:30 on Good Friday - this was poor planning on course managements part. All that said, it is a very nice course with plenty of challenge and other than greens being early season very good condition.

the course was in great condition,greens very good althrough a little sandy in places,think had some sort of fertilizer applied on them. we were a 2 ball ,and had early starts, so seemed to miss all the 4 balls that were starting behind us. otherwise think would have been slow going. but a great course,and a lovely break,

The course was in fantastic condition, particularly the fairways. The 3 levels of cuts round the greens were also a joy to experience, especially so early in the season. There is a great variation of hole layouts and green complexes - a very enjoyable course. If I had to put my finger on one thing it would be the appalling state of the driving range. The mates are seemingly 5 years old, weathered and rock hard. This would be ok if we were then allowed to hit from the turf, but this was not allowed when we were there. This really lets an otherwise great golf resort down as there is no way to warm up properly before the round. It just feels so at odds with the vibe of the rest of the place, which is top notch. The range is barely worthy of a local public course with no funding. Very strange...

Excellent marshals - off on time. Interesting course with challenging greens! Thoroughly enjoyed our two rounds and would definitely come again - hopefully to improve the scores!!

Curse was in superb condition. From tee to green all parts of the course were as you'd like. The green themselves were the best I've played on for sometime - true, even and of a decent pace. Will definitely return to play again
