The Emerald Course is named as such in a tribute to its lush, green environment, and is an excellent resort course, being suitably challenging for skilled players, whilst remaining playable for the average visitor. The natural undulations of the landscape work in harmony with the strategically positioned water hazards and sand traps to create many challenging holes, while the superb greens are expertly maintained to ensure that they putt beautifully throughout the year.

The Sapphire Course may be considerably shorter than the Emerald, but it is no less entertaining. At 4,801 yards, you would not expect to be unduly challenged, but the abundant hazards, particularly the water, make matching the par of 66 extremely difficult. A deadly short game is priceless around the Sapphire, where those with a good grasp of the ‘scoring shots' - from within 100 yards - will no doubt reap the rewards.
Hill Valley's two golf courses and excellent facilities make it an ideal host for a corporate golf day.
Hole 18 (Emerald Course), Par 4, 401 yards (White Tees), SI 9
The 18th on the Emerald contains an exciting approach shot over a pond. The green is small, and contains bunkers left and right, with trees behind ensuring that any mishit shots will be punished accordingly. A fantastic closing hole requiring a sustained concentration to score par.

Absolutely amazing stay. The staff were all very nice, spacious room and bathroom. Food was very nice and although the evening meal included is a £25 allowance the portion sizes are very very good and breakfast included is brilliant that would be £24 for a cooked breakfast so amazing value having breakfast included

Room was dirty and there were not many plug sockets, when you have 3 people sharing a room having only 3 sockets available is not enough and none were near bed. Food was over priced for the quality and portion size. The service was extremely slow, having to wait 30-40 mins for breakfast when there were only 6 people in the restaurant seemed excessive, same with evening meals, the wait time for drinks and food to be served were long. Dirty glasses in the bar, and dirty milk jugs at breakfast.

Disappointed with the value allowance on evening meal. Very disappointed limits on the hot food at breakfast. A snooker or pool table would be an advantage

On the information that I received from Your Golf Travel, it said that each person would get a free 3 course evening meal but in actual fact we were told that we could have anything on the menu up to a price of £25 and if we had more than that then we would have to pay the extra, with their prices being high, it was impossible to have a three course meal or even a two course meal for £25. The food was very good and at Breakfast there was an excellent selection on offer.

The course was challenging and quite hilly which makes some lies challenging to the higher handicap golfer but it was enjoyable to play

Not as good as the Emerald but still very good and playable until the heavans opened and we didn't make the full 18 but was our choice and not the courses fault. Despite being shorter than the Emerald it does come with its challenges and makes you think a bit more strategically but still a very good course

Was a little concerned reading other reviews but quickly ignired them cos apart from the odd squelchy area the course was more than playable with how much rain we have had. Fairways were in very good condition as were the greens and the staff in the shop were very welcoming and very helpful

We didn’t play this course in the end. We played the Emerald twice.

Greens were in very good condition considering all the rain we’ve had over the winter. The fairways were generally good although heavy in places. Rough was heavy. Plenty of winter tees in operation.

First 2 days the course was playable, the last day the course was extremely wet in most areas and should have been made to use winter mats. Overall a good course.

Some of the greens were not in the best condition and signage could have been better. The course itself had plenty of challenges which provided a lot of fun

Course was good but would like to visit again in the summer when a little less muddy.
