Lopesan Villa del Conde Resort & Thalasso is a five-star base in Meloneras, Gran Canaria, styled like a traditional Canarian village. You'll spot whitewashed walls, wrought-iron balconies, stonework and fountains, with tropical gardens weaving through the walkways. It feels more "grown into the island" than a standard resort block, which is exactly what you want when you're here for a week of sun and golf.

From a golfer's point of view, the location is the big win. Meloneras Golf and Maspalomas golf course are close enough for an easy transfer, while Anfi Tauro offers theatre on every hole alongside stunning views. Right, so you're not locked into one layout all week, and you can build a proper three-course itinerary without spending your holiday in a minibus.

You're also a short walk from the promenade and the Maspalomas lighthouse, so there's an easy off-site stroll when you want it. That said, if you're anything like me after 18 holes in the warm air, the idea of a seawater Thalasso circuit and a relaxed terrace drink starts to sound like a very sensible plan. The Thalasso centre is the headline act here, a sizeable seawater-led set-up with a vitality pool, steam bath, aromatherapy elements and a flotarium, all positioned to take advantage of Atlantic views. It's geared to proper recovery rather than a quick add-on.

Who is this for?
Golfers or couples looking for a quality winter-sun break that combines accessible golf with resort-level facilities, dining variety and a spa that's worth using. It suits groups who want everything on-site, plus easy access to the island's best courses.

Who is it best for?
Mid- to high-handicappers chasing winter golf in the sun, couples mixing golf with relaxation, and groups who value a well-rounded resort experience over a pure golf-only base. Also ideal for anyone who wants Thalasso treatments and likes a resort with character and a strong sense of place.

Accommodation at Lopesan Villa del Conde Resort & Thalasso 5*

Accommodation here blends classic Canarian exteriors with modern, Mediterranean-leaning interiors. Rooms are spacious and uncluttered, which works nicely on a golf trip when you want somewhere calm to reset between rounds. Standard in-room amenities include air conditioning, satellite TV, a sitting area, minibar and a private terrace or balcony.

If you can, it's worth choosing your view. Many rooms look over the tropical gardens, while others face towards the Atlantic, so let us know what matters most when you book and we'll guide you through the options available. The design pulls from architectural styles found across Gran Canaria's villages, which gives the property a sense of place without feeling like a theme park. Suites and standard rooms are decorated in a clean, unfussy style that prioritises comfort and light over heavy furnishings or bold colour schemes. Everything feels calm and uncluttered, which works well if you're spending a few days here and want a room that doesn't shout at you.

There are four restaurants on site, covering local Canarian flavours, Spanish favourites, Italian staples and international options, so you can mix it up over a longer stay. You've also got five bars dotted around the resort, from easy poolside spots to smarter evening settings, which suits groups that want a sociable base without having to head out every night.

The Thalasso centre is the headline act and a very handy add-on for golfers. It's seawater-led and built around a circuit that includes a vitality pool, steam bath, steam room, aromatherapy elements and a flotarium, with Atlantic views doing their bit in the background. Add in massage treatments and you've got a genuine recovery option after 18 holes, especially if you've walked. The complex opened in 2005 and remains one of the resort's main draws, particularly for anyone who's spent a warm afternoon battling the wind on an exposed coastal layout.

Beyond the spa, there's a large outdoor pool with sun terrace and a tennis court. With the facilities here, you can comfortably make this a stay-put resort if you want to. For golfers, the setup works well. You're close enough to the island's best courses to play a different layout each day, and the resort gives you somewhere comfortable to return to with decent food, a good spa and enough space to relax without feeling like you're in a crowded package-holiday complex. It's a solid base for a winter golf trip, particularly if you want a bit more than just golf and a bed.

Nice enough, but far from a genuine 5 star.

A nice hotel? A few small issues but the location and shared facilities and buffets with the two other mega hotels made it very good. The free shuttle to the golf courses was very good as is the island bus service which has a bus station 15mins walk away.

Excellent Hotel. Go for a room with a sea view if you can. 20 minute walk to restaurants.

The hotel has almost everything that one could wish for. It is large and one can get a little disorientated in the grounds, but the facilities are exceptional. Entertainment in the Plaza every evening is top notch, with a couple of exceptions, but I won't quibble. The staff are unfailingly polite and helpful, but don't try and leave the restaurane with a banana!!! The location is very good; a short walk and one is on the sea front promenade with access to a multitude of shops and restaurants.

Amazing hotel, which is closer to being a village.. Great location with everything you need close by.. Las Palmas is about 60kms away but hotel is close to many of the courses. Would definitely stay there again

Not really a 5 star hotel with very odd design that doesn't really work. No tea/coffee maker in room,no face cloths, no conditioner in bath; buffet meals are a real scrum, the bars aren't attractive places. The spa is outside the hotel for the public. Good access to cliff top walkway to shops/restaurants
