Located in North East Vietnam, between Hue and Danang, Laguna Lang Co Golf Club boasts a fantastic 18-hole championship golf course designed by six-time majors winner, Nick Faldo.
The par-71 course is Faldo’s second course in Vietnam and was recently recognised for its excellence at the World Golf Awards where it was nominated for Vietnam’s Best Golf Course 2017.
Measuring at 7,100 from the championship tees, this course will favour the big hitters, however if you can’t control accuracy off the tee then you will find yourself amongst some of the unique hazards throughout the course. Faldo’s design embraces the varying landscape from the rivers to rocky crops and boasts a breathtaking backdrop of the surrounding mountains and coast, which provides a gentle sea breeze at stages on the course. The course begins with a generous par-4 which narrows as you approach the green due to the imposing water cutting into the fairway, while the 3rd is a long par-5 which will see most golfers lay up on their second shot. You’ll then play two par-3s in quick succession with a 206 yard shot over a ‘blowout’ area while the 8th plays over a lake towards a green protected by bunkers; if you miss the green on this hole you might be carding a big score. The front nine ends with a challenging par-4 with huge fairway bunkers all along the left side and a fairway which has a cluster of trees in the middle, narrowing your landing area. A similar theme is apparent on the 10th with large natural trees in the middle of the fairway, just hitting it down there with a driver won’t be enough to escape the hazard. The course ends with a monstrous par-5 which plays at 621 yards from the back tees. The hole features a gentle dogleg at the start with bunkers flanking both sides up towards the green, if the pin is on the right of the green, you may want to play it safe to the left as a punishing bunkers cuts across the front left side.
The clubhouse at the golf club is a modern, spacious area where golfers can enjoy views across the golf course. The changing facilities are all well-appointed with over 300 lockers in total and there is a fully stocked pro shop for golfers to get all the essentials. The club also boasts two tennis courts, an activity centre as well as a golf academy which features a range and short game. There is also a brilliant cafe which has outdoor seating serving a range of cuisines and drinks.
