Las Colinas Golf & Country Club sits in the heart of Spain's Costa Cálida, with a championship layout by Cabell B. Robinson winding through Mediterranean woodland and natural ravines. You get proper views too, with the Mar Menor lagoon visible in the distance on clear days and the surrounding hillsides rolling away towards the coast.

This is not a holiday-course pushover. The design asks you to commit off the tee, then rewards good angles into greens that are well defended without feeling unfair. Robinson has used the natural terrain cleverly here, routing holes through valleys and across ridges so you're constantly adjusting for elevation and reading how the ball will release on firm fairways. If you're the type who enjoys plotting your way round rather than just hitting driver and hoping, you'll have plenty to think about. The bunkering is strategic rather than penal, the greens have enough movement to make lag putting interesting, and the conditioning is consistently strong, which matters when you're paying championship-course green fees.

Logistically, it's straightforward. Murcia International is around 40 minutes away, which makes Las Colinas a strong shout for a long weekend, but it's far enough from the busier Costa del Sol and Mar Menor strips that you can actually switch off after your round. The club feels purpose-built for golfers rather than a golf course bolted onto a timeshare development, and that shows in how the facilities are laid out and how the staff approach the game.

Who is this for?
Golf groups who want a quality course and modern self-catering accommodation, plus couples and families who'll use the gym, tennis courts and beach club between rounds. It suits anyone looking for a quieter corner of Spain with proper golf at the centre of the trip.

Who is it best for?
Mid to low handicappers who enjoy a proper championship challenge and want a course in excellent condition, and groups planning three to seven nights where space, privacy and easy airport access matter. The villas work particularly well for larger groups or multi-generational trips where you want your own base but still want resort amenities within reach.

Las Colinas

Las Colinas Golf & Country Club features a superb par-71, 18-hole championship course managed by Troon Golf, the world´s leader in upscale golf course management, which extends across the valley and blends naturally into the landscape. The width of its fairways, the design of its extensive undulating greens, and the numerous tees at each hole give it great versatility and makes it suitable for professional competitions, while also offering any player a pleasant and enjoyable game.

There's also well-equipped practice facilities for golfers of all ages and playing abilities where you can fine tune your skills on a spacious driving range with complimentary pyramids of golf balls set up ready for your warm-up and practice sessions.

Las Colinas is ranked as one of the best courses in Costa Blanca

Accommodation at Las Colinas Golf & Country Club

The Las Colinas Residences are spread across the resort's hillsides, with two and three-bedroom apartments plus three and four-bedroom villas. The big win for groups is space, you're not tripping over each other's luggage and golf bags, and the self-catering setup keeps things flexible if you've got early tee times one day and a lazy breakfast the next. That flexibility matters more than you'd think when you're coordinating four or five golfers with different body clocks and post-round routines.

Expect modern, well-equipped interiors with full kitchens, air conditioning, WiFi, international TV channels and dedicated parking, which is genuinely useful when you're hauling clubs and kit. It's the sort of setup that works just as well for a quick golf break as it does for a longer stay, especially if you're mixing golf with beach days and exploring the local area. The apartments suit couples or smaller groups nicely, while the villas give you enough room to spread out if you're travelling with family or a larger society group who want communal space in the evenings without being on top of each other.

On site, there's plenty to keep non-golfers and tired golfers happy. UNiK Café runs from breakfast through to dinner with an international menu, there's a well-equipped gym, tennis courts for a hit and bike hire for getting out into the surrounding countryside. The resort also offers access to a beach club when you fancy swapping fairways for the coast, though it's worth checking what's included for residence guests at the time you travel, as access can be seasonal and may vary depending on your booking dates.

If you're travelling as a society or a mixed-ability group, the combination of high-end accommodation and a genuinely strong course makes Las Colinas a smart base, especially for anyone who wants quality golf without the big-resort feel or the crowds that come with some of the better-known Costa del Sol complexes. The residences are close enough to the clubhouse and practice facilities that you're not spending half your morning in a buggy or shuttle, but far enough up the hillside that you get views and a bit of peace when you're done for the day.

For golfers who want a top-class test, modern self-catering comfort and a quieter patch of Spain that still delivers on course quality and convenience, Las Colinas ticks a lot of boxes.

Lovely place to stay, friendly staff we were relying on the shuttle bus to get us to the club house from our apartment which didn't turn up everytime but apart from that all good.

Great hotel, although I would describe it as more of a complex/community than a hotel. Car hire is almost a necessity. Food was lovely, facilities were excellent. It is quite an isolated place, perfect for what we wanted, but not the place for some.

We enjoyed our 3 night stay with 2 rounds of golf booked through Your Golf Travel The accommodation was clean and well maintained - only negative was the lack of a kettle meaning we had to boil a pan of water to make coffee and tea. There was a filter coffee machine but all the coffee supplied was instant coffee - hence the need for a kettle! The food at the clubhouse was also good - mainly following an Italian theme but a reasonable choice. Breakfast each day provided a good choice - hot food was buffet style but generally okay.

Unbelievable experience for first golf holiday, amazed instantly at the size of the Las Colinas grounds, beautiful place, didn’t want to leave, facilities immaculate and staff were all kind and attentive, apartment rooms were pristine with balconies in almost every room with each one having an incredible view.

Brilliant apartment, staff and facilities excellent, nothing was too much trouble. Staff attentive and welcoming, courtesy bus an absolute necessity. I probably wouldn’t chose to have breakfast included on the days not playing golf purely due to the distance main area is away from apartments

This is an apartment which we have stayed in before and is good for a short stay. The bedrooms are very tight but adequate. Reasonably well fitted.

A bit remote with not much going on in the resort itself, however Vilamartin is quite close by.

One of the best courses I have ever played it was in perfect condition, challenging but not ridiculous and in immaculate condition. This course is a 10 out of 10

Excellent

The course is wide, you can see everything in front of you, but it is well bunkered and can be long from the white/black tee boxes. Making the correct choice with the tees is essential. The greens are nice, but have plenty of pitch marks and the inevitable scars they leave behind. If I am being picky, the sand in the bunkers was a little hard, almost stone like. The buggies are the best I've ever used, GPS, ball cleaners, club cleaners, multiple shelves and places to put things and fresh ice in the drinks bucket. Overall it's a lovely golf course with some interesting holes, water, well bunkered and a fair challenge. I'd definitely play it again.

Las Colinas was the perfect start to the tour. The course offered a great mix of challenges, from tight par 3s to a monstrous 600m par 5 that pushed everyone’s limits.
