Marco Simone Golf & Country Club is located just 30 minutes northeast of Rome and boasts a glorious championship standard golf course. The headline layout at the club is the Ryder Cup Course and in 2023 it became only the 3rd course on continental Europe to host arguably golf's biggest tournament; the Ryder Cup.
The fact that it hosted the Ryder Cup is testament to how good the course is and proves it really is a gem in Italy’s golfing crown. Throughout the round golfers are treated to unrivalled views of the stunning natural landscape with the course being one of the most aesthetically pleasing in the region with beautiful lakes and the Marco Simone Castle being the backdrop to some of the holes.
Marco Simone Golf Club has a superb 19th hole where guests are treated to panoramic views and is the perfect setting for a couple of post round beers.

Course designer Jim Fazio has been responsible for the creation of some of the best courses in the world having masterminded courses like Trump National in New York and Lost Lakes Golf Club, Florida both of which are widely revered as 2 of the most beautiful courses in America.
The Championship Course at Marcio Simone Golf Club is the headline course and boasts 18 fantastically designed holes that weave through the stunning natural landscape. The course features undulating fairways, small greens that are often well protected and some of the best tee shots in the country.
Signature hole: 2nd hole, par 3
The signature hole is considered to bet the par 3, 2nd hole which measures in 185 yards and is arguably the most picturesque on the course. The small green is a feature of the course and is guarded by a lake at the front which awaits any errant tee shots. The 2nd provides the best views of the Marco Simone Castle as this lies behind the golf club. Another of the stand out holes on the course is the 546 yard, par 5 1st hole which plays downhill with a slight dog left to the right. For the longer hitters the green is reachable in 2 but there is plenty of risk and reward associated in doing so as the green is heavily guarded by bunkers and a lake meaning laying up is the best option.

Great to play the Ryder cup course and try and emulate the European team. Much more open than other courses and when we played the rough was not as punishing as we heard it had been earlier in the season. We played on a Monday so probably the quietest day. Note food service stops at 3:00 p.m. Everyone enjoyed this course - fewer hazards but long and narrow fairways.

The greens were the worse I've seen. Course it self was really nice.

Amazing course - one of the best in Europe for sure. Extremely challenging but tees well spaced out to ensure there is a length for all. Wonderful condition, hard and fast greens - exactly as expected at such an esteemed golf course

Humbling experience to see how far the pros hit it.

The course and the staff were amazing and I can see why this is booked for the Ryder Cup. Well worth a visit. Only thing is to be careful with Golf Travel they told me both tee times were 11am each day and when I phoned the course this was not correct and we nearly missed the tee times. Would definitely visit again not sure I would book through golf travel though. I phone them to confirm tee times and they returned my call on the last day of our trip. They are good until you book with them then never contact you about any changes

Potentially a wonderful course, but is in need of some TLC. Very challenging lay out, and fun to play nevertheless. When it is refurbished for the Ryder Cup in 2022 doubtless it will be fabulous.
