Golf Courses at Delta Hotels by Marriott St. Pierre Country Club
Old Course
St. Pierre's Old Course is one of the best parkland layouts in the country, and is a recognised tournament host, having welcomed the top LPGA professionals for the Solheim Cup in 1996. The course has now matured nicely into a genuine challenge for even the best golfers, with some particularly memorable holes.
A round on the old reaches a crescendo with the superb closing two, where visitors must negotiate the 17th green, almost surrounded by an expansive water hazard, and the final hole's difficult elevated green.
The neighbouring Mathern Course, although considerably shorter than the Old, is an extremely enjoyable layout. It is parkland in style, but players must also tackle the mature trees that provide obstacles on many holes. Opened in 1975, the Mathern continues to delight visitors with some very good golf, and even better views of the surrounding Monmouthshire countryside.
If you fancy a flutter, the race course at Chepstow has regular meetings, and is within a short drive of the resort.

It hasn’t changed much in 25 years! Needs an investment to upgrade it what it was. Golf menu is poor but a la carte is fine. Staff are helpful generally but the bar was having an electronic breakdown!

Horrendous Experience, Plus points… Leisure Facilities pretty good, nice courtyard room, however … Awful food, extremely rowdy, groups of men chanting singing in the restaurant…. Only Sunday Carvery available which was poor at best, staff look like they’ve given up. Into the bar later for more carnage… blokes swearing being extremely loud, which descended into that group throwing pound coins that the wall to see whom could get the closest…… bit like being at nursery school …. Dinner service slow, ate our desserts whilst our main course plates were still on the table…. Ages to wait for a drinks order too…Young chap in pro shop also disinterested (on the Sunday)… Never ever again

Hotel is set beautifully and looks historic.
Found the facilities especially for the room lacking.
No heating as the heating system wasn't on. Had nowhere to dry off my golf gear after a day on the course in the rain and was playing the next day.
Bathroom had no heated towel rail either.
Yet another member of my party on the same block had a radiator thatbwas powered by electricity and a towel rail.
I visited reception to ask about heating etc they didn't really have an answer.
Offered to change my room but by this time all my golf equipment was hanging up in the room and all the clubs were also individually placed in the room.
My room had an enjoining door locked that led to another room where at 6 am I could hear those people.
The restaurant in the evening was very busy and the service was slow .
There was also no gas so some items on the main menu were not available to eat.
On day 2 of our round of Golf the clubhouse had set hours for things like bacon baps so after the round at 230 this wasn't available. The lunch menu was limited and didn't offer anything i wanted to eat.

Hotel is ok, beautiful main entrance. Some areas could do with updating but no problems for a golf trip.
8 / 10
We were a party of 18 golfers & enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The staff were welcoming & attentive. Our rooms provided everything we needed. Our only quibble was the bar prices.
8 / 10
Easy check in, clean rooms, comfortable beds,
Food, excellent Breakfast choices from cereal, fruit, to a full English with unlimited choice of items.
Set evening meal slightly limited and for me still the same set price as our visit in 2019, £25 pp and thus reduced volume and quality.
10 / 10
Really nice rooms well maintained, very good evening meal and nice breakfast
8 / 10
Hotel reception was chaos.
Booking in was terrible as some golfers were booked into a double bed rather than a twin room. It took over an hour to sort out.
10 / 10
Great stay away, easy to book and pay for and the price was amazing for what we got.

Room was comfortable, could do with updating, shower rail was loose and wonky, opened by itself!
No air con, no fridge, red hot and window only opens about an inch.

Superior hotel. Very comfortable room in ‘The Village’ part of the hotel. Nice pool and best sauna & steam room I have been in for years.
Carvery dinner was only option, but presented well.

Perfect vacation , food was very good . The drinks are very expensive , staff are a credit to the hotel , so helpful . Our second visit and will return

Overall it was pretty much perfect, could have just done with a cooler room
6 / 10
Great location, friendly and helpful staff.
8 / 10
Excellent. Staff, particularly behind reception were first class.
8 / 10
Food on Sunday was amazing was a buffet Roast. So much Choice of different meats and veggies. All you can eat. Beds were very soft. Windows didn’t open but only stayed one night. Staff were brilliant
8 / 10
This was an enjoyable stay. The restaurant was lovely, golfing facilities very good and general ambience of the hotel enjoyable. The bar area however is small and can become overcrowded but fortunately the weather was good so you could sit outside. The rooms are a little dated but acceptable. Staff on the whole were good but we had to ask numerous times for the rooms to be cleaned and the bar manager was either overworked or just rude. Would recommend this for a short golf break. We went for two nights three days.

Drinks and bar food overpriced

Hotel showing signs of age but still good.
The bar prices are North of what I'd expect to pay , £8 bottle of cider ( old mout) ,£6.50 small bottle Peroni. Buffet style evening meal absolute winner.
6 / 10
Very friendly and helpful staff, no complaints at all.
The room was comfortable and clean with a small course view. As a party of 8 we all agreed it was a great venue. The food was good is a little pretentious - who wants cheese cake in a glass? Negatives, the cost of bar snacks and drink.
8 / 10
Overall really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Only disappointment was the reception staff informed me they were running low on room key cards resulting in only getting one keycard per room (we were 3 guests over two rooms).

Really nice experience
Lots of history & everything about our stay was spot on
Would definitely go again

Rooms were clean & spacious, although the blast of hot air during the first night made it a little uncomfortable. Once rectified the second nights sleep was a lot better. Swimming pool was a good size along with the jacuzzi. Food at the hotel I thought was below standard, breakfast apart(which was very good). Same limited choices both nights, no burger or red meat option & no cheeseboard!! First night I had Fish & Chips - fish was quite tasty but the batter was very tough & thick. Second night Pork & Leek sausages served in what seemed like a cereal bowl, 2 sausages & a small serving of mash, not great! Drinks at the hotel were also very overpriced £7.25 for a pint of lager, I pay less in London!!
10 / 10
Superb. Hotel was excellent and the courses were stunning. Absolute bargain

Dinner was disappointing, otherwise very enjoyable.

Friendly staff, great food. The room was comfortable and well equipped.

Great Value for money. But I came here 40 years ago and it was best in Wales. It does now need major reinvestment.

The Bar was incredibly busy and understaffed. Condiering the prices charged the least you would expect is adequate staffing. The dinner was self service and billed as a carvery, but there was no fresh meat being carved, although you wont go hungry the quality was poor. Several of our group had no hot water on the morning of our second day. I did manage to shower in the pool changing area , but not ideal. Overall not what I expect from a Marriott. We felt like they just wanted our money and customer safisfaction was a long way down the list.

We had a deluxe room overlooking the course. It was clean and comfortable and the Sunday buffet was fantastic. Drinks were a little bit pricey.

8 / 10
The hotel is a very friendly place and all the staff are very helpful and cheerful. The variety of food on offer is very good and the standard is very good. The drinks are quite expensive, but this seems to be usual of this type of venue
10 / 10
Couldn’t fault the place 32 of us all had a lovely time, food was great rooms good,
I gave 4 stars for value for money as the drinks and bar food was quite expensive.

8 / 10
Nice friendly staff, good food in restaurant but portions were too small especially the starters.
Comfortable beds but shower in bath had no power, and there were no cubicle showers which was a shame.
Hotel didn’t have our dinner reservations when we arrived (YGT said they had booked) so we had to rebook dinner at different times.
8 / 10
Nice rooms but lack air conditioning! Nice bars and outside seating areas. Our group had a buffet style evening meal which was excellent as was breakfast.
10 / 10
8 / 10
Staff could not have been friendlier. Room was Ok, there was no fridge which would have been useful. Could not see how to change the aircon setting. Some rooms had water to drink, others didn't and my room was not cleaned after the first night.
Some of our group were offered a drinks voucher, others were not which was odd.
Food was variable. The Friday night menu seemed more substantial than the one on Thursday night.
Biggest bugbear was the price of alcohol. I bought wine for the table and the least expensive wine was over £30 per bottle. At The Vale house reds and white were a lot less expensive.
Other facilities were good, steam room and sauna excellent, pool was busy, but to be expected.
10 / 10
Lovely staff, beautiful building, food was good.
8 / 10
Overall good but some issues with good and drink. On the second day we had a choice of five mains one of which was a repeat from the previous night. Then one of the other choices was unavailable. Similarly with wine. One option was not available and the next comparable wine was £30 more. This is not what you expect from a 4 star hotel
10 / 10
An excellent hotel, with very professional and helpful staff. The bars and restaurants were excellent as was the food, across the whole weekend. Only thing we did feel was a negative, was the rather large markup on wine - we did not think the quality of the wine was reflective of the price.
10 / 10
Great background for a golf filled weekend
8 / 10
great stay staff very welcoming, rooms good food good
6 / 10
Disappointed with hotel. Breakfast was fine but dinner very disappointing. Also lacking facilities in room and there was no information in room about facilities in the hotel.
8 / 10
Staff were very helpful and polite every thing was clean and tidy
10 / 10
Evening dinner menu Limited .
Drinks expensive . For instance.
4 large Gin and Tonics £64.00. !

Hotel staff helpful, tv didn’t work in my room though. Lunch on second day was cold and the bar ran out of red wine on the evening of our stay

Accommodation was great, huge comfortable bed usual room facilities, large tv, it was a smart tv but not loaded with Netflix YouTube or anything else , that didn’t bother us , it just had freeview channels. Lovely views of the lake from the room, and if you’re in the village you can virtually park outside your accommodation.
10 / 10
Vincent organised a great trip for us. St Pierre did not disappoint. Everything was smooth from the moment we drove up the long impressive drive flagged by the course on both sides. Tempted to give 5 stars for everything but Restaurant and Bars are not Michelin star but more than reasonable and offer good value
10 / 10
Everything went well. Bedrooms comfortable and food was okay. Facilities of swimming pool, sauna and steam room great to have the use of
8 / 10
Friendly golf hotel. Some rooms recently decorated with good sized beds but others still a little 'tired' with only double beds which seem quite small.
8 / 10
Very friendly staff, Bar and restaurant food is expensive if not included in package- £5 for a few slices of bread to accompany soup!!
8 / 10
Nice hotel with friendly staff. Food and service good. Only 1 bar that was also the golf club bar.
8 / 10
First visit to St Pierre for a group of 12 golfers and it didn’t disappoint. We were worried that with all the rain things may not have gone ahead and it was going to be a wash out but luckily for us we found a break in the weather for our two day venture and a good time was had by all. The hotel had a great ambience about it, staff were exceptional, food was of a good standard and the bar areas inside and out were very spacious with lots of little “snug” areas where you could sit and chill as a group and have a laugh and chat about the day without disturbing others. The rooms were a decent size, well provisioned and comfortable.
We were scheduled to play the Mathern course and the Old Course but the Mathern was lost to the weather so we had two rounds on the Old course.
The course was understandably a bit wet underfoot in places due to the volume of rain that had fallen prior to our arrival but it did not detract from our enjoyment of the course. Quite a challenging course with some long and tricky tee shots. And the 18th is one of the hardest Par 3’s especially for us mere mortals but only enhanced our fun. All in all we as a group had no complaints about our trip and our experience was very positive….. we would go back so that in itself is a recommendation, Thankyou to St Pierre 👏👏

Great stay made by a great location and friendly helpful staff. Thank you

Beautiful, castellated hotel. Lots of space to sit and relax. Bedrooms recently decorated with comfortable king size bed.
Food in restaurant was ok.
10 / 10
Great stay, lovely hotel, easy to get to. Food was excellent morning, noon and night. Staff very helpful. Room was hot and bed uncomfortable so only 3 stars there. But great value and would highly recommend.
10 / 10
Excellent hotel and very good value for money. Food very good. Bedroom a bit too warm but comfortable bed and very clean room.

Generally we like the hotel, service was good. Breakfast was good but unfortunately quality of set dinner was quite disappointed. Half cooked risotto was served to us.

6 / 10
Overall very good but the food was average.
Also, there was no hot water in the morning. I have told the reception and they promised to recompense us. Am awaiting a reply.
10 / 10
Easy check in. Very comfortable room. All staff very helpful. Good choice of evening meal and breakfast.
8 / 10
The hotel is a well maintained, quirky, old building, which is set in beautiful grounds. It has a small bar area, which can be noisy in the evening, but has a number of smaller rooms where guests who want to escape the noise, can sit, all of which have TVs, showing Sky Sports. The twin rooms are small but clean and have tea & coffee facilities. The twin beds are quite small. The evening meal choice was excellent and the food was very good. Breakfast was alsi excellent and the food was fresh, even though it's a buffet.
8 / 10
Excellent room with comfortable beds and facilities. Restaurant pleasant for dinner but breakfast service was unsatisfactory as long wait for poached eggs which we had to chase up twice after placing original order. Maybe it was just a bad day in the kitchen!
6 / 10
First room damp and smelly, had to change rooms. Out building outdated and remind me of a weekend at pontins in the 80’s
10 / 10
Great location. Excellent food.
10 / 10
Been before but took my son to play golf and celebrate my birthday. Our room was great but the beds were a little hard so the rest was great.
8 / 10
6 / 10
Rooms are very basic, no fridge, no air con, most of the six rooms we had didn't have fans.
No bath mat and one of us went over bruising leg, back and arm.
Very dated
Food was nice but twice as much of it would have been better. Very small portions, we ordered for in after dinner.
Buggies were not reserved for any round. I managed to sort most of this but it's very disappointing whe you plan something 6 months ahead and someone else cocks it up
4 / 10
The rooms need updating (we stayed in the Village location) the breakfast was COLD two days out of the three we stayed. Dinner menu was unchanged for the period of our visit and in general the food was bland, but well cooked and served. I could not recommend this to other people, which is a shame as the location is great.
8 / 10
All good, evening meal a bit disappointing.

Great place to go for a group golf trip. Dinner and breakfast very good. Lovely hotel. Two very good golf courses
8 / 10
We stayed in a bedroom with a king-size bed, very comfortable. Dinner was rather mixed. Some courses were good others very bland and tasteless. Breakfast was very good.
10 / 10
The hotel is very clean and comfortable along with the wonderful staff. From arriving at reception to Sally in the golf bar couldn’t do enough for us.
10 / 10
Staff all extremely helpful and helped facilitate all our needs. I made a couple of calls and a pre-visit to ensure everything was as booked by your golf travel and as a result everything ran like clockwork
8 / 10
No decent coffee pod machine in room, only instant, yuc.
No biscuits.
No aircon, only a cheapo fan.
Bathrooms dated, needs renovation.
Evening meal was a buffet with poor quality food, not good.
Good breakfast and a nice restaurant, good service.
6 / 10
Dated hotel needs upgrading now ...expensive bar ...buffet was served for dinner nice selection and breakfast was very good
8 / 10
Excellent. Rooms are a dated but otherwise great
6 / 10
The Hotel and staff were excellent, very attentive and nothing was too much trouble.
6 / 10
A little dated rooms, not usual Marriot standard. Good quality and quantity very good. But drinks are a complete rip off. £11 for a medium glass of wine.
10 / 10
Very comfortable with friendly efficient staff
10 / 10
4 of us travelled to St Pierre for 3 days of glorious sunshine and had great time here.
The hotel is lovely and the staff, if too few in number were excellent and made us feel very welcome.
The rooms were a bit dated and in need on the renovation that is just underway as part the new Delta Hotels programme. Work should be completed over the next 12 months. The pool and spa also in need of updating.
Food was exceptional and the hearty breakfast set us up for the day.
8 / 10
Very comfortable, very helpful and cheerful staff.
In Mathern dining room - Same menu two nights running
In Cast Iron dining room - the breakfasts were very good. The hot buffet dinners were not so good and the wine menu was very expensive.
6 / 10
Hotel full, rather noisy. Golf course very slow. Couldn't check into hotel and get to restaurant in time for dinner booking. Repeated attempts to rearrange booking from course revealed nobody available to take phone calls either in reception or pro shop (4 to 4.30 in afternoon).
Buffet evening meal and breakfast were good. Rooms in need of some attention. One shower not working, no tea bags, hairs in bath... Wake up call not received.
Nevertheless had wonderful weather and enjoyed our stay. Wondering whether to go back or elsewhere next year.
6 / 10
Even though it was again very enjoyable was really disappointing t h at tee times were changed without being told so we nearly missed our tee off .luckily we were early. Nobody told us tee time for next day had x also changed luckily I asked. Also played same course twice which were not told till tee off. Booked meal for 8pm and it was changed to 6 with some discussion was put to 7pm . All seemed a little disorganised and rushed this year which was very sadly as was in memory of our dad who has played there with us the last few years
10 / 10
Had an excellent stay, the food and service was fantastic.
Would throughly recommend this venue.
8 / 10
Average Marriott breakfast. We were only given a buffet supper which was not what I expected after making special arrangements for my 70th birthday celebration - and it was very average.
6 / 10
Very dated accommodation! Only lamp lit and no ceiling lights apart from the bathroom which is blocked out when using the shower. In need of refurbishing!
8 / 10
Had a great evening at the Hotel the room was very comfortable and met my expectations, my only gripe was that distance i had to walk to my room i nearly phoned for an Uber. Im not sure the hotel was full but i seemed to be allocated the room furthest away. Other than that all good
6 / 10
What a shambles, we were given a 2.50 tee time so by the time we came in every where was packed. We went for our evening meal only to discover it was a buffet, but there was no food all the meats on the menu were finished and the little veg that was left was cold. To top it off the bar had run out of beer, as a group of 12 it was difficult to find seats, by the time we did we were literally forced out of the bar by the men next to us because they wanted our seats. Our morning 10.30 tee time was cancelled but we were offered a 2.30 which for us was too late. So out of 10 I’d give it a 1.

Perfect place for a golf break, nice venue.
8 / 10
The hotel has a unique charm and some beautiful old parts of the building. The food was very good, beautifully cooked and presented but both evenings there was a long wait between courses. The majority of the staff we met were personable, friendly and helpful. However I did not appreciate being woken up on our second morning asking what time I was checking out by the housekeeping staff. Still half asleep I said I didn’t know to be told ‘check out is not until 12’. At this point I closed the door to hear the member of staff, presumably to a colleague, say how rude I was. If the hotel need to have a timetable for room cleaning on day of check out I suggest they ask guests the day before. Finally the signage was not great getting to and from the car park and non existent from the hotel to spa and pool.
8 / 10
Hotel was good the only down side it took me 30 minutes to book into my room after Receptionist couldn't find booking and blamed yourgolftravel for messing up the booking it was only when another Receptionist came to help did we have our room (in about 3 minutes).
8 / 10
Accommodation was good. Staff were lovely but not enough bar staff. There was a problem with the beer which caused issues. Dinner was OK. Breakfast was superb with fantastic choice.
10 / 10
52 golfers on the trip , 52 golfers delighted with the quality of their rooms , the leisure facilities, quality of the food both evening meal and breakfast and the service given from the moment we arrived until the moment we left . The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming throughout . It was my first visit and I am already looking to book a future golf trip next year . Thank you to all at St. Pierre for making my captains away day trip so memorable, we loved our stay .
6 / 10
Rooms for golf breaks pretty basic obviously old and perhaps in need of updating but adequate. Couldn’t fault the staff service in restaurant was very slow first night and menu not great however gave us a free round of drinks very apologetic. Second night a totally different experience quick efficient and great menu so can understand the mixed reviews. Bar staff during day under pressure but coped with a smile . All staff were friendly and can’t do enough. Pool good size , adequate but also slightly tired area but was quiet . Was value for money. Staff are definitely 5 star . They should invest in better glasses for wine and put bread and oil on the table wouldn’t cost much but would help ones experience with some small quick fixes
8 / 10
Great location, staff were pleasant and accommodation in the village rooms was really good. This is our third visit staying at St Pierre and our group really enjoyed it.
4 / 10
Rooms were good and the facilities in the hotel were good. The food and drink service was chaotic. There was virtually no draft beers or lagers. A sandwich ordered at lunchtime would often take over an hour to arrive. There was never enough serving staff at the bar at lunchtime. As a group of 12 we were required to order our evening meal food choices early in the day. This process proved to be very random. The first 3 evenings we were there we sat down at 8pm. The service was slow and the wrong meal choices brought out. All requests to bring out jugs of water were ignored - we eventually helped ourselves to water. On the third night they had lost our preordered food sheet. It took 3 hours to serve us the three courses. On the plus side all the food was very good. On the last evening we ate at 6.30 in the evening - there were no issues.
8 / 10
Wonderful hotel, golf courses rooms and food exceptional pity lunchtime the bar had only 2 choices of beer and no improvement in the evening took the edge of a good experience
8 / 10
Staff were super friendly and dealt promptly with any issues. Breakfasts were excellent. We stayed in the annex building and rooms were quite small but comfortable. Overall the hotel did a very good job looking after our mixed group of 30 and I'd definitely recommend it.
10 / 10
Lovely hotel with excellent staff

Fabulous room in the courtyard, complete with well needed fan!
Staff very helpful, but clearly a bit short staffed in the bar area.Food in the restaurant was very good.

could not fault , excellent stay .
10 / 10
First thing I’d mention is how happy and welcoming the staff were. I find that very rare these days but everyone we spoke too couldn’t be any more helpful and enthusiastic. The rooms are relatively basic but nice enough to get your head down. Food at restaurants very good.

10 / 10
The staff were friendly and helpful.Food choice and service excellent. Drinks price about average for a hotel environment. One night after dinner we visited a great local pub on the river (The Boat in Chepstow).Played Ross on Wye G.C. on way back on Sunday which was excellent.
8 / 10
Rooms very dated
8 / 10
The hotel looks great, and setting is fantastic, despite the Highways agency closing one of the bridges on Sunday! Staff were very obliging in both the hotel and pro shop, and very friendly. Breakfast buffet was very good, and dinner was good, although the table d’ hote menu was a little restricted. Rooms wer a good size, and Check in and check out was very efficient, and would have no hesitation in re-visiting.
8 / 10
The hotel experience was very good overall. Plenty of staff on hand and helpful. Rooms were slightly small but no real problem. We had the set menu which was fine.

Excellent room accommodation. Only minor frustration was the the bar was quite limited in terms of beer/lager and very busy at the weekend. We were on a package and the food choice while limited was good. Breakfast very good.
4 / 10
Unfortunately the hotel is very tired and needs a lot of upgrading.
We had a great time because i was there with friends but this was in spite of the hotel.
At dinner there were 5 bottles of wines on the menu of which 3 of them were sold out. At the bar they had run out of all snacks. It was just like nobody was trying V hard.
Its a beautiful building and the gym and swimming pool was great but they need to try a bit harder with the food and drinks.

Very enjoyable weekend!

Staff excellent, polite, helpful, engaging and professional

Very comfortable and well appointed rooms. Staff always friendly and helpful. Good dinner though service rather slow.

Excellent accommodation, clean, smart
Near all facilities. Lovely atmosphere and good food
One of our party was booked in and confirmed to use a buggy both days but was not allowed to use one. If we knew this we would have booked another course as he is disabled and found it extremely tough.)

Everything about the hotel, rooms, staff and location were fine. Nothing was brilliant or outstanding but there was nothing wrong either.
6 / 10
The hotel looked a little run down and could do with some TLC. The view we could of had of the 18th green through our window was blocked by a large bush, blocking most of the sunlight into the room (107) as well.
8 / 10
Stayed here lots of times. Need to improve on the pillows and the cleaning in the rooms. It was cold while we eat our dinner in the evening. The food was lovely. All the open fires were out, would have been nice to be on to give a Christmas warmth.
There than those points we had a lovely time

A very pleasant experience

Obvious that still recovering from COVID issues.Appeared to be lots of new untrained staff.
Poor replenishment and leaning of bedroom on one occasion, did complain to reception who resolved issue following morning.
Bar staff very young and lacked knowledge.
Behind bar and below chiller fridges were very dirty.
Prices were extortionately high.
Seemed to be classed as second class citizens on Saturday evening when a wedding was on same day.
Placed with rowdy golfers in another part of dining room.
Asked to be reseated, manager was very accommodating and sat us in main dining room, and sent us a free bottle of wine as recompense.
Hotel tired and in need of upgrade.

Staff in all areas excellent… nothing too much trouble.

Excellent hotel, friendly and efficient staff, very good food, comfortable rooms. Not a bad thing to say about it.
10 / 10
Very good hotel at a very good price
10 / 10
Hotel was great value for money we booked well in advance.
8 / 10
The hotel was comfortable if not as modern as some. We had free use of the leisure centre which was useful. The breakfast and dinner we're good value with a variety of meals available.

Following various discussions with Jordan at Your Golf Travel our group of 16 made our way to St Pierre for a golfing weekend and we were not disappointed. I popped of the weekend before our visit to ensure all was in place, which it was, and the reception staff managed to secure an individual dining room for us as we are a mixed group and not an all male society. The receptionist said she would try and sort something for us and called me later in the day tgo confirm that we indeed had our own dining room which was terrific. The waitresses were top class and really looked after us. The guys in the bar were right on it and although it was busy they really did well so very well done. The rooms were clean and comfortable although there was a lot of noise all night with people walking passed the room and slamming doors. However overall a very enjoyable stay and the weather was great which always helps.

Had a comfortable stay overnight. Access to the room is not suitable for older age group.
10 / 10
Very good.
Staff exceptional
Overall a good experience.
8 / 10
Friendly Staff, plenty of room in restaurant and bar area. Room a little cramped but ok fo short stay, but was uncomfortably warm.
10 / 10
Excellent resort hotel and accommodation.
8 / 10
Check in process was quick and easy. Twin rooms, so perfect setup for a group of golfers. Rooms a bit warm and not much chance to cool down as no aircon and windows only open a small amount.
Food was buffet style, plenty of options for dinner and was all very good quality. Plenty to choose from for breakfast as well, although can get unlucky with queues at certain times.
8 / 10
Comfortable. Good food.
4 / 10
LAKESIDE ROOM HAD adequate facilities but smelt mildewy.
Our steak dinner (ribeye) was an extra 5 pounds but was positively poor, served as thin a steak I've ever seen with 8 chips and a decoration of cress.
8 / 10
Charming venue if a little dated internally. We had dinner B&B and the food was excellent, was just disappointing you could not get the same drinks on draught in the restaurant as the bar. The staff in all areas were great.

8 / 10
Very limited menu for our evening meal and the bar closed way too early for everyone
4 / 10
The Hotel is disappointing, the rooms are tired and we had a supposedly Deluxe room which was small and basic, only a double bed with a mattress that needed replacing. The food was below ordinary and of poor quality.
Having said that the staff were excellent, helpful and friendly.
8 / 10
Great service. Accommodation clean and comfortable. Food was good
6 / 10
First class food through out our stay. The bar could only offer one choice of rose wine which we found extremely poor. The deluxe bedrooms were quite small and the window only opened two inches which on warm nights was not good. A fan was supplied but we could not sleep with that on all night. The golf was enjoyed especially the old course.

The whole experience matched my expectations having having heard complimentary remarks from others who had visited the complex . The accommodation , service and quality of the golf courses was excellent .

Very nice stay but accommodation was in the village not in hotel

Thus resort is in an excellent location with some outstanding views from the course. The resort was very busy but the staff were very impressive both in the bars and restaurants. The pro shop staff were second to none in my experience. A big thank you too for the excellent course Marshall

Staff excellent and couldn't be more helpful. Food very good and rooms ideal for a golf break. Fantastic value for money overall.
10 / 10
The room was very adequate for my stay for the night. It wa very spacious and clean also had everything I needed
8 / 10
Overall hotel very nice but rooms look a bit tired. Cooked breakfast not of the highest standard, ingredients not good.
4 / 10
Check In at reception was good and efficient confirming the 2 rooms, for 2 couples, and booking for dinner on both nights of our stay. We had requested 2 Lakeside rooms with balconies but one of them had been "upgraded" to a Courtyard Suite. My wife and I were given a key to a Lakeside room, on entry we found cobwebs on both the outside and inside of the large windows overlooking the lake and the room did not have a balcony. After contacting reception, we were given the type of room booked which was cleaner and comfortable but the bathroom was in need of decoration.
Our friends Suite, which we believed to be an upgrade based on room rates, was small, tired, noisy and in real need of a complete refresh. The settee and chairs in the lounge area were also worn and stained.
The quality of service in the main restaurant was acceptable but extremely poor in the outside bar, food was acceptable but quality of beers and lagers varied from poor to undrinkable.
10 / 10
Very enjoyable stay. clean rooms. Service a little slow in the bar. only other problem tee time was just after a large group of women playing a group competition between themselves gave half hour before teeing off behind them but caught up on second tee followed them and having to wait on everyshot.
10 / 10
An excellent venue for my party of 8 Golfers - Staff were very helpful and accommodating - Rooms were very clean and comfortable
10 / 10
Rooms were too hot. unable to open windows further due to window restrictors
8 / 10
Rooms look like have been modernised i thought very nice. Bar and resturant nice also. Only issue found staff didnt bring you things you ordered. Had to ask for drinks 3 times before they came and tbh got bored and stopped asking on last day. Still waiting on a coffee from the last mornings brekfast and a orange juice and lemonade from the night before. Maybe they get to our table soon lol staff were really nice and polite, just never came back with what youd asked for lol

Restricted under Covid but staff did their best
During a heat wave and no air-conditioning in rooms so difficulty in sleeping

Great golf, ok hotel, decent food, very young and somewhat inexperienced staff.
Would go again!
8 / 10
Rooms were fine, as was the restaurant. The food was pretty good throughout. However, the common areas including the bar were all very tired and would benefit from a major update. Some of the staff were excellent, while others were a bit disappointing.

Very good value
8 / 10
The hotel was very busy over the weekend so I ended up in one of the lakeside lodges. This wa a 3 min walk away from the main hotel the room was fine and the bed was comfortable. The hotel put our group in a function room and provided a large screen to watch the Euro cup final. The staff were great we were well looked after. The staff working in the bar area in the afternoon weren’t as efficient and many of our food & drinks orders came late and or wrong. All in all the hotel was ok. I’d come again.

The staff on the reception desk were superb, going above and beyond to help us. The hotel is lovely and, as we arrived early, we were booked into a courtyard room. One preference would have to have a slightly broader choice of the set menu which was part of our dinner package.
6 / 10
In the Mathern (annexe) walls were paper thin and could hear everything from the room next door. Had to speak to them at 12:45 as the noise was preventing us from sleeping. Restaurant was poor, staff seemed to be in training. Had to send my steak back and then waited half an hour for it during which time my husband had finished his meal.

Room was good. Bed comfortable and plenty of space to work or chill out.
8 / 10
Poor service generally given by non managerial staff. Ignorant and unable to converse correctly ‘Do you want?’ instead ‘would you like’. Resort voucher offered not easily obtained and service charge should be removed until dramatic improvement made.
8 / 10
Accommodation as advertised. Ideal for a few nights away. Overall set up works well for golf with everything close at hand
10 / 10
Staff really helpful and friendly. Very welcoming great food . Used spa facilities which were lovely .Golf courses perfect well kept. Covid rules all implemented and followed felt totally safe . Thanks see you next year
8 / 10
Everything was fine, except not enough staff for table service because of Covid
8 / 10
Very nice but a shame that we couldn’t get a drink or anything to eat on arrival and were sent to a garden centre down the road?
8 / 10
A great break, just a little disappointing that we could not upgrade our meals
8 / 10
Not the same as before Covid. To be expected I guess but the staff were just as welcoming and did their best to provide a good service. Food choices were limited and the quality had slipped a little. Safety standards relating to Covid were very good, all staff wearing masks and gloves made you feel safe.
8 / 10
single room all as expected compared to previous visits
no different in these difficult times staff coped surprisingly well in both bar and restaurant no complaints whatsoever
10 / 10
Very welcoming and very comfortable. We would definitely recommend it and will be going back again soon. Good food. First class breakfast.
8 / 10
Obviously difficult during covid times. Staff were friendly but bar area was lacking in atmosphere. Comfortable rooms and overall good value
10 / 10
Under the circumstances I couldn’t fault the hotel or its staff. Apart from the mattresses being too soft, it was a very enjoyable stay.
10 / 10
Room was warm clean and comfortable. We were allowed to check in early which was a nice bonus. We had to change the names of the people who came with us c, couldn't be easier and no charge unlike some hotels.
The food was excellent loads of choice and you weren't hurried. The waiting staff were attentive and very efficient.
8 / 10
Comfortable, ground floor room and well equipped bathroom. Needed prompting to clean and change linen on 3rd day.

Couldn't fault the hotel or staff during our stay. In these difficult times everything was superb. Highly recommended.
8 / 10
Very comfortable stay & helpful and friendly staff made the stay really enjoyable.
10 / 10
Very well organised during these covid times. Very clean and the food was fabulous. 8 of us stayed and played and we would definitely would go again.
6 / 10
Many areas of the hotel are quite tired and dated. The room above ours had a very squeaky bed and floorboards, so we were woken when they decided to get up and there was no way of sleeping through the noise.
The room lacked a few basics - no bottles of water and we had to borrow a hairdryer from a neighbouring room.
8 / 10
Very easy to get to from London. Very friendly staff. Good rooms. Only negative was the inclusive dinner menu was the same on both nights.some variation would be nice. But would recommend strongly and will definitely revisit.
8 / 10
Rooms are clean. Staff are friendly and the breakfast is lovely. Good selection to chose from. Hotel is in a great location on the a river Severn.
8 / 10
Ok
8 / 10
The hotel was adequate for the cost. The bar and reception staff were very good but the restaurant staff not so much. The hotel was quite full due to a race meeting at Chepstow and one or two staff around the restaurant didn't seem to mind letting us know that we were an inconvenience.
6 / 10
Rooms adequate but booked 12 months ago as a group would expect to be near each other - not in separate buildings. Not happy. Service and food first evening in Bar/Grill-very poor. Breakfast service non existant- cutlery dumped and told to lay it ourselves. Dinner and service 2nd evening in Restaurant much better.
8 / 10
Reception was excellent and there were good overall facilities. The rooms were not great and were put in the side rooms.
The restaurant and bar areas were not linked making it difficult to work out where best to go.
8 / 10
Room a bit out dated needs furniture upgrade and very hot in rooms fan provided but could do with air con apart from that very comfortable

Very good, nice comfortable feel about the place

The dinners was awful & the drinks very expensive - we were very surprised that they keep the same menu all the year round - difficult when there is so little choice and nothing you like on it, breakfast very good

Our room was awful. Down three flights of stairs without lift. Like being down in a dungeon. As a party of six we expected better.

Hotel is old castle so rooms are abit spread out but Nice views out window overlooking course n good selection on the tv. My room sink didn't drain very well

Set in a lovely location, in its own grounds, with a long history surrounding the old part of the hotel, very welcoming staff. Excellent rooms, serviced each day. Good restaurant the set menu a bit basic and satisfactory. Good facilities pool, sauna, steam room and gym.
An enjoyable 4 nights.
8 / 10
Excellent location of hotel. Clean and helpful staff especially in the bars. The restaurant service was a little slow. As we were asked to pre-order dinner for 8pm. We waited until 8.45 to order drinks this was after asking the staff to serve us. Then dinner arrived after 9. Rooms a little dated but clean and comfortable.
10 / 10
excellent accommodation helped by polite and respectful staff

Interesting
Checked in ok long walk to room and key did not work!!
Walked all the way back with bags and waited to get my key sorted.
Long walk back to room. Opened door to find my room occupied!!!!
Long walk back to reception and waited to get a new room sorted
All in all a total disaster
This happened to 3 of our party
The Hotel gave a £100 bar tab for our trouble which was appreciated.
Other than that a great stay in a great location

The weather was kind to us we had a fantastic round of golf a fabulous meal afterwards and a sound sleep after

THE ACCOMMODATION AND PRESENTATION WERE EXCELLENT BUT THE ONE THING THAT LET IT DOWN WERE FOR ME WAS BEDS WERE LIKE SLEEPING ON CONCRETE.
