Golf Courses at Delta Hotels by Marriott St. Pierre Country Club

Old Course

St. Pierre's Old Course is one of the best parkland layouts in the country, and is a recognised tournament host, having welcomed the top LPGA professionals for the Solheim Cup in 1996. The course has now matured nicely into a genuine challenge for even the best golfers, with some particularly memorable holes.

A round on the old reaches a crescendo with the superb closing two, where visitors must negotiate the 17th green, almost surrounded by an expansive water hazard, and the final hole's difficult elevated green.

Mathern Course

The neighbouring Mathern Course, although considerably shorter than the Old, is an extremely enjoyable layout. It is parkland in style, but players must also tackle the mature trees that provide obstacles on many holes. Opened in 1975, the Mathern continues to delight visitors with some very good golf, and even better views of the surrounding Monmouthshire countryside.

If you fancy a flutter, the race course at Chepstow has regular meetings, and is within a short drive of the resort.

Excellent place to stay and play golf. The hotel and accommodation is right near the 1st tee, large car park. Bars and restaurants clean, great food and beers (London prices as usual), plenty of room to relax. Spa and other facilities available but we unfortunately didn't have time to use them.

It hasn’t changed much in 25 years! Needs an investment to upgrade it what it was. Golf menu is poor but a la carte is fine. Staff are helpful generally but the bar was having an electronic breakdown!

Horrendous Experience, Plus points… Leisure Facilities pretty good, nice courtyard room, however … Awful food, extremely rowdy, groups of men chanting singing in the restaurant…. Only Sunday Carvery available which was poor at best, staff look like they’ve given up. Into the bar later for more carnage… blokes swearing being extremely loud, which descended into that group throwing pound coins that the wall to see whom could get the closest…… bit like being at nursery school …. Dinner service slow, ate our desserts whilst our main course plates were still on the table…. Ages to wait for a drinks order too…Young chap in pro shop also disinterested (on the Sunday)… Never ever again

Hotel is set beautifully and looks historic. Found the facilities especially for the room lacking. No heating as the heating system wasn't on. Had nowhere to dry off my golf gear after a day on the course in the rain and was playing the next day. Bathroom had no heated towel rail either. Yet another member of my party on the same block had a radiator thatbwas powered by electricity and a towel rail. I visited reception to ask about heating etc they didn't really have an answer. Offered to change my room but by this time all my golf equipment was hanging up in the room and all the clubs were also individually placed in the room. My room had an enjoining door locked that led to another room where at 6 am I could hear those people. The restaurant in the evening was very busy and the service was slow . There was also no gas so some items on the main menu were not available to eat. On day 2 of our round of Golf the clubhouse had set hours for things like bacon baps so after the round at 230 this wasn't available. The lunch menu was limited and didn't offer anything i wanted to eat.

Hotel is ok, beautiful main entrance. Some areas could do with updating but no problems for a golf trip.

We were a party of 18 golfers & enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The staff were welcoming & attentive. Our rooms provided everything we needed. Our only quibble was the bar prices.

Easy check in, clean rooms, comfortable beds, Food, excellent Breakfast choices from cereal, fruit, to a full English with unlimited choice of items. Set evening meal slightly limited and for me still the same set price as our visit in 2019, £25 pp and thus reduced volume and quality.

Good course played at the end of March in lovely weather. A good variety of holes ideal for groups of all abilities. Bearing in mind the time of year the greens were good the grass on the fairways had been left longer but were fine. We hardly had to use winter rules. Very enjoyable.

Has stood up to the dry Summer well. Greens were great but some long trecks from Green to Tee. Could do with a marshal going round to monitor playing speed. Some fabulous, unique, memorable holes.

Tees were dreadful but the rest of the coarse was ok given the harsh Summer. A back and forth parkland course with nothing particularly special.
